Want to give a big thanks to everyone I saw at RPGLB this year. I got in Wednesday and left Sunday, so it was a pretty short trip for me, but I tried to make the most of it as best I could. It was kinda hard to do that with the pressure of being the closer, since I wanted to devote as much time to practicing as I could, without just cordoning myself off from everyone all week. I don't know if I properly found that balance or not. But to everyone I hung out with this week, thanks for being you. I don't think I had breakfast with the same person even twice that week, there were just so many wonderful people at the event to meet and spend time with. Going to that Mexican restaurant with a few of you, partying in my room and fatmn's room, hanging out in 575, good talks at the lunch tables, sushi with the boys as soon as we landed, and even just shooting the shit in the practice room, this was a great trip. There were so many of you I was excited to finally meet in person, and I'm happy I got the privilege of doing so. RPGLB attracts a lovely crowd of just the right size. Extra shoutouts to DDR and Midboss for driving us around. Extra shoutouts to my hotelmates v0oid and bichphuongballz for being the realest. Extra shoutouts to v0oid (again), Daniel, Tojju, and GhostKumo for holding it down during my run, you guys own. Big ups to the FF4 Free Enterprise community. Y'all came out in huge numbers for my SMRPG run. I joined your discord last year and shitposted harder than I ever have and then suddenly I've got this huge amazing friend group. Love you all. Really happy so many of you showed up to this marathon, watching the race was one of the highlights of the week for me. Shoutouts to god gamer Cattura. Helping you kick Bundt's ass was also one of the highlights of my week. Huge thanks to everyone involved with RPGLB for throwing this amazing event, and for allowing me the honour of bringing us home. Doing the actual finale run was something else. I've never been the closer of a big marathon before. Truth be told, I didn't submit this year with the intention of actually getting into the marathon. I know that sounds stupid, but it's been my dream since I started running MOTS to do it live at a large event, and RPGLB was my ideal choice for that. However, since I had already run any% in 2017, I figured there was not a chance in hell I was getting the same game in again so soon to a once-per-year event that already has to have a small games list due to the nature of most RPG speedruns being quite long. My intent with submitting was to stay on the radar of the games committee and show that I'm serious about that run - I almost didn't submit because I thought it would ultimately be a fruitless endeavour, but bich talked me into it last minute on the final day of submissions. I'm happy he did. MOTS is my favourite category of my favourite game. Actually getting accepted to the marathon this year, let alone being the closer, was not something I ever saw coming. I also had almost no vacation time left, so I kind of freaked out when Invenerable DMed me during family dinner to tell me we both got in, lol. I almost wasn't able to go because the government fucked me over, but to my anonymous friend who funded my plane ticket and saved my skin, seriously, I've already told you this but I really cannot thank you enough. I don't really feel like I deserve people's generosity like that as-is, and I wanted to really put a ton of effort into practicing to make the run worth the money. Thank you so much again. I hope I did well enough. I tried really hard not to be nervous going in. I know that I know SMRPG like the back of my hand. I contributed a lot to the routing of the category, and I know exactly why everything is set up the way it is, so it wasn't like I was at a huge risk of forgetting something major with enough practice. More than anything, I wanted to nail shy guy skip. Once I hit that, I didn't feel so nervous anymore. I was a little worried about super jumps because I was dropping them a lot in practice earlier, but I guess it's different doing it live. Was pretty cool to nail them first attempt at RPGLB a second time. Thank you all for your wonderful donations that you sent in during the run. It was pretty awesome to also hear that some of them came from my IRL friends, family members, and smash crew. The support was really something else. I really tried my best with that run, the entire marathon had been so good it was a tough act to follow. I tried really hard not to cry during the marathon finale. I held it together because I was visible on camera lol. I guess I've gotten sorta good at that. Really I just didn't want to mess up my eyeliner. Anyway, I guess that about does it for me. Unfortunately the night I got home I got a strange feeling in my throat, and woke up unable to keep any food down, swallow, or breathe very easily, so I've been home from work for 2 days. Regardless, I am still going through with my Frame Fatales segments. I commentated for Tetra last night, did my SMRPG tech tutorial showcase, and tonight I'll be doing a randomizer development segment with Tetra and Varin on commentary. I'm also commentating Pako's DKC2 run on Thursday. Pretty exciting stuff. I really never stop, I guess. This Friday I'm running MOTS for Kara's Cure: https://horaro.org/karascure/schedule - Please consider dropping some dollars toward this. Bluntbunny is one of my best friends, and his sister Kara is a wonderful person. I'm offering 4 of the 5 incentives that I did during RPGLB. I'll probably run it in Japanese this time. Saturday, I will be heading down to help run GOML 2019. The 64 TO is unavailable on Saturday, so I'm stepping in to run the singles bracket. It's been a few years since I had to TO for 64, and I'm not familiar with the waterfall format, but I'm hoping to do a good job and it'll be cool to see the 64 crew again. Tuesday I'll run Dr. Mario for v0oidathon. I'm glad I don't need to practice that game. The next weekend is Anime North, and I'll be running the smash room again with my crew. I need to finish prepping for that this week. The following weekend I'm heading down to NASA to hang out with the DKC crew. My commissions backlog is also overflowing again, so I gotta get to that. Then in mid June I'll finally get some rest lol. May-June is always hectic for me. I'm looking forward to getting to settle down and just spend my weekends with sean again.
