>She ever so gentle lowers the bouquet with lavenders onto the ground before the monument, before -HIS- monument. >She proceeds to sit there in solitude, just as every night before. >You hear her softly weeping, as she usually does. >Even as the skies grow darker and rain threatens, she remains seated. >The creeping chill of the comming night makes no difference either. >Before long, a minor downpour sweeps across the scenery. >As always, she doesn't waver. >She simply sits there, crying. >You pace impatiently on the spot, hidden away in the shadows of some nearby trees. >You had anticipated this kind of behaviour, of course, but this is getting ridiculous. >It's been almost a month now and she's still at it, every day without rest. >You could almost swear that the only reason she's been keeping up this silly act for so long is to vex you. >Because vex you it does, and greatly so. >You're getting tired of this charade. >You've waited long enough, it's time to take action. >It's time to claim your just prize. >When she's done here for the evening, you'll go for her. >You smile for yourself as you stand in the trees watching the mare you crave. >After some time, when the landscape around you has fallen dark, she gets up to leave. >As per usual she trudges forward painfully slow, lost in deeply brooding thoughts. >At the gate of the cemetery, she stops to take one last look over at his grave before continuing on her way. >You stalk after her, using the cover of nightfall you do your best to stay out of sight. >You doubt that she's terribly aware of her surroundings, but you don't want to take any chances. >You'd hate to think what she'd make of it if she caught you following her like this. >Comming up on The Carousel Boutique, you make haste. >You run towards the eastern road, in order to circle around her, making it appears as if though you were comming from an other direction. >As she closes in on the boutique, you just "happen" bump into her. >She staggers back in surprise, apparently she hadn't even heard you comming. >You take a step back as well, feigning shock. "Woah, sorry there Rarity." >"Oh Anon, it's only you." >"You gave me quite a startle." "Yeaaah, I'm sorry about that. I should have been watching where I was going." >"No no, it's quite alright darling, I'm part to blame as well." >An uncomfortable silence falls over the two of you. >How perplexing... Rarity is usually such an avid talker. >You feel yourself prompted to speak up before you lose her interest. "What are you doing out in the rain at this late hour anyway?" >She looks up at the sky, as if she hadn't until now been aware of the rain. >"Oh... I was just... I..." >Her gaze falls to the ground. >"I was visiting Spike." "I see." >You go down on one knee infront of her, bringing you face to face with her. "Rarity, you know it's been almost a month now?" >Her eyes rise from the muddy ground to face you. "And I don't want to sound insensitive, but isn't it about time you started to move on?" "I mean, you have to start living your old life again at some point, right?" >She glares at you with cold eyes. >"How can you say that?" >"It's time for me to 'move on'?!" >"Do you expect me to just forget about Spike? >"Am I to act as if he never even existed and as if he wasn't the greatest thing to ever happen to me?" >"Tell me Anon, what did our love mean if I were to cast it away as soon as he was gone?" >Ill prepared for her heated emotions, your mind races to think of a good response "But Rarity, love is for the living." "What point is there in wasting your love like this?" >Her angry brow is softened and all her fervor seems to dissipate. >She gets a distant look in her eyes, as if she's staring of at at something only she can see, a distant dream. >"He was going to ask me to marry him, did you know?" >"He had everything planned out; a train ride to Canterlot, two tickets to the opera, reservations a fancy restaurant..." >"Twilight even pulled some string for him, and we were going to spend the weekend living in the guest quarters at the Canterlot Castle." >"It was going to be perfect, he had made sure." >"Of coruse..." >"I only found out about this after he was... Gone." >Her eyes, tears escaping them, finally return to meet yours. >"I've been thinking about it a lot over the last few weeks," >"And I know for sure now, that if things had turned out differently," >"I would have said yes." >"And I would have been happy." >"Happier than ever before." >"I could have been happy..." >She pauses as her voice breaks and tears roll down her cheeks. >This is it. >This is the moment you've worked for, the moment you've dreamed of. >It's make-or-break now, Anon; choose your words with care. "Rarity." "I understand that losing Spike was hard for you." "But I also know that sometimes, when we're feeling abandoned or deprived of someone we love, it can help to have someone else by your side." >Her sad eyes look at you with hope, as if she's wondering where you're going with this. "You don't have to be alone in this, Rarity. I'm here for you." "In time, maybe I can help you put this sorrow behind you and make you happy again." >You move in to protectively wrap your arms around her, but she shies off as her face warps into what you can only describe as a mixture of disgust and disappointment. >"Y-you want to -help- me by making me forget about Spike?" >She lowers her head and sighs. >"You know Anon..." >"A part of me pitties you." >"You have obviously never experienced love." >What is she saying? >-YOU- don't know love? >Hah, if only she knew. >"And yet..." >She stares off into the distance, down the path she came from. >"Another part of me envies you." >"Because you never felt the pain of love." >She pauses a moment to let her words sink in. >"Good-night, Anon." >As she turns to open the door to the boutique, you realize that this is your final chance to act. >You can't let all your work go to waste. >You -MUST- have her. "Rarity wait!" >Your sudden outburst grants you her attention once more. "You're wrong when you say I don't know love." "I... I love you." "I love you, Rarity." >She just stares at you blankly. "I've loved you from the moment I came to this world." "I just want to be with you so badly that it hurts!" >"You don't love me, Anon." >"You hardly even know me." >You are utterly dumbfounded. >How could she mock your feelings like this? >After all you've done? >A torrent of anger wells up inside you. >Without even thinking about it, you've closed the distance between the two of you and pinned Rarity to the door. "HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT?!" >Spit sprays as you shout with uncontrollable rage. "HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT I DON'T LOVE YOU?!" >Shoving her hard against the door once more you scream with all the power of your burning lungs: "I KILLED FOR YOU!" >Realizing what you just said, you manage to restrain yourself somewhat and you let go of Rarity. >Sloping down against the door, she stares at you with the horror of realization. >"Y-you... I..." >She's speechless, but the look on her face says it all. >Never before have you seen such hatred and such revulsion in someone's eyes. >You feel your heart shatter. >She will never be yours. >You stagger away from her. >A solitary tear rolls down your cheek. "Rarity, I didn't mean to..." "I j-just didn't know what else to do." "I did this for you, Rartiy!" "He didn't deserve you!" "Why can't you see how much I love you?" >Rarity simply watches you with a stoic face. >Dropping to your knees in the muddy road you let out a wail of agony. >As you sit there in the mud and rain, crying for forgiveness, she shows no emotions. >"I pity you, poor creature." she whispers to herself before turning away from you >She opens the door to her boutique and disappears.
