My issue I chose to present is funding the police and why it’s important. 

Around a year ago, talk on the left started circulating of the idea of defunding the police. Unironically, this was the same time that many left-wing extremists started causing riots in thousands of cities around the US. Major cities have seen thousands of homicides due to BLM and Antifa riots. Many innocent civilians have been murdered by these rioters. There have been many videos and photos captured showing BLM and Antifa rioters committing the illegal acts of arson, looting, destruction, and violence. All this destruction has been predicted to cost insurance agencies $1 - $2 billion hurting the economy more during the Coronavirus. 

So how does the media report this? Many media outlets like CNN and MSNBC promoted these riots as acceptable. There are quote on quote “objective journalists” like Don Lemon saying stuff like “When do protests need to be peaceful?” and many articles published by the media declare many protests are “peaceful” even if they turn violent. The left has tried to make George Floyd the good guy throughout all of this, calling his name “synonymous with justice” and getting support from the media. This couldn’t be more from the truth as he has been in jail 9 times over 10 years and charged with many different crimes which include “delivery of a controlled substance (1997), two separate charges of theft (1998), failure to identify (2001), possession of a controlled substance (2002), trespassing (2003), another charge of delivery of a controlled substance (2004), possession with intent to manufacture or distribute (2005), and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon (2007)," which included him breaking into a pregnant woman’s house and holding a gun to her stomach as her own toddler watched. As we know now at the time of his attempted arrest Floyd had fentanyl and Methamphetamine in his system which is why he wouldn’t get into the car multiple times saying that he was claustrophobic. The media refuses to show that part on any television program. We also know that a week prior to his attempted arrest he had an overdose. 

George Floyd is the excuse that BLM uses whenever they hear a politician say something that disagrees with their world view or when a non left-wing politician wins office to go and riot around the country. Their real goal is to punish any person that disagrees with them by either rioting or demanding certain requests and then rioting even if they’re met. Recently, the group stated new demands concerning the former president and his supporters about wanting him to be permanently banned from social media, making sure he can never run again by being convicted in the senate, and to expel any representative that went against the certification of the electoral votes from being in office or running for another office. 

So, where do the 2 candidates for the 2020 election stand on the issue of Antifa? During a presidential debate Biden finally commented on the organization after ignoring their violent riots for months and said, “Antifa is just an idea, not an organization,” to which Trump replied back, “When a bat hits you over the head, that’s not an idea.” The reason Joe Biden can’t condemn these groups is as for months before he tried to blame Trump for the extreme left-wing violence like when in a speech he made in August of 2020 he said, “Fires are burning and we have a president who fans the flames, rather than fighting the flames,” ignoring the fact that many riots have rioters attacking innocent civilian Republicans or anyone who disagrees with them. Biden also won’t condemn because of his claim of systematic racism towards the police. If he condemns these groups then he’ll have to acknowledge the fact that the police don’t have a systematically racist system put in place. If you look at the Washington Post, they reported back in 2019 that in the whole year only 14 unarmed black citizens were fatally shot which is 63% of a decrease since 2015 of unarmed black citizens fatally shot which disapproves of Biden’s theory. Trump commented on BLM back in August of 2020 saying, “So, all of a sudden it’s taken on this air of great respectability. Well, how does it start there? It’s a Marxist group that is not looking for good things for our country.” What Trump is referring to when he says, “Marxist group” is the BLM founder Patrisse Cullors as she stated, “We are trained Marxists,” when discussing her organization. 

There is a very simple solution to stop this terrorism, simply allocate more money to police all over the country. Now is the time more than ever to allow police to do their jobs properly. More funding will lead to more and better equipment and the ability to hire more police. Both of those factors will help take on these protestors head on and prevent them before they can start. Once police departments get the money they need, America will see a significant decrease in riots and a lot of people in major cities can start walking around without worrying about BLM and Antifa coming out of the corner of their eye to attack and rob them.
