Spyro: Year of the Dragon Any% - Information (by jeremythompson) All information included in this note is updated through July 25th, 2018. All listed times were played on a PSTV (Disc Load Speed - Fast, version 1.0, no save block created) unless otherwise specified. In order to finish the game, the end of level eggs for the primary levels in Sunrise Spring, Midday Gardens, and Evening Lake as well as the boss eggs for those homeworlds must be collected. Then, the Sorceress must be defeated. Sunrise Spring - Required Eggs 1. Sunny Villa ........... Rescue the mayor. 2. Seashell Shore ........ Free the seals. 3. Molten Crater ......... Get to the tiki lodge. 4. Cloud Spires .......... Turn on the cloud generator. 5. Sheila's Alp .......... Help Bobby get home. Buzz's Dungeon ..... Defeat Buzz. Midday Gardens - Required Eggs 1. Sgt. Byrd's Base ...... Clear the building. * 2. Spooky Swamp .......... Find Shiny the firefly. 3. Bamboo Terrace ........ Clear the pandas' path. 4. Enchanted Towers ...... Destroy the sorceress statue. 5. Icy Peak .............. Find Doug the polar bear. Spike's Arena ...... Defeat Spike. Evening Lake - Required Eggs 1. Bentley's Outpost ..... Help Bartholomew home. 2. Frozen Altars ......... Melt the snowmen. 3. Fireworks Factory ..... Destwoy the wocket! 4. Lost Fleet ............ Find Crazy Ed's treasure. 5. Charmed Ridge ......... Rescue the Fairy Princess. Scorch's Pit ....... Defeat Scorch. * Note - Although, the egg "Clear the caves." (Sgt. Byrd's Base) is not one that is checked during the evaluation of Midday Gardens completion, it seems to be a necessary prerequisite for collecting the "Clear the building." egg (Sgt. Byrd's Base). In my opinion, the minimum reasonable time for this category is something between 23:45 and 24:05. In other words, I believe that this range is accurately representative of my present skill level. For reference, my total sum of best segments is 22:44.27 (https://pastebin.com/SCuDvdAU). Truthfully, about 10 seconds should be added to this based on which strategies I currently use in runs. Personal Leaderboard 1st ...... 23:58 2nd ...... 24:03 3rd ...... 24:03 4th ...... 24:06 5th ...... 24:08 6th ...... 24:08 7th ...... 24:12 8th ...... 24:12 9th ...... 24:12 10th ..... 24:18 PB Video - https://youtu.be/XWrGUHPSq44 [NEEDS EDIT - NOT UPDATED] Sunrise Spring ........ Sum of Best Segments - 06:20.50 ..... Fastest Pace - 06:28.30 Midday Gardens ........ Sum of Best Segments - 13:10.99 ..... Fastest Pace - 13:36.10 Charmed Ridge * ....... Sum of Best Segments - 19:32.32 ..... Fastest Pace - 20:13.10 Midnight Mountain ..... Sum of Best Segments - 22:44.31 ..... Fastest Pace - 24:03.24 "Net Difference" = "Fastest Pace" - "Sum of Best Segments" "Potential Pace" = "Total Sum of Best Segments" + "Net Difference" [NEEDS EDIT - NOT UPDATED] Sunrise Spring ........ Net Difference - [+0:07.80] ..... Potential Pace - 22:52.11 Midday Gardens ........ Net Difference - [+0:25.77] ..... Potential Pace - 23:10.08 Charmed Ridge * ....... Net Difference - [+0:41.75] ..... Potential Pace - 23:26.06 Midnight Mountain ..... Net Difference - [+1:18.98] ..... Potential Pace - 24:03.29 * Note - I included "Charmed Ridge" instead of "Scorch's Pit" because it's a more accurate measure of skill-based pace, which is the more relevant statistic. For reference, my best pace through Scorch's Pit is 21:43.77. World Record Progression In order to enter the Sorceress's Lair normally, the 100 egg door requirement must be completed (along with a brief conversation with Bianca). In November 2013, a skip was discovered for this requirement door and what was formerly Spyro: Year of the Dragon Any% was separated into a legacy category referred to as 100 Egg. Naturally, the route change was substantial. Instead of 100 required eggs, there were only 19. At the time, the 100 Egg record was 59:36 by SSBMstuff. The first run of the new Any% category was 45:06 (again, by SSBMstuff). Although, most of the world record runs were documented, there are sections of November/December 2013 without conclusive documentation. I'm hesitant to include information that could be inaccurate, so I'll begin this progression from the point I began speedrunning Spyro (June 2014). April 2014 ........ 30:30 ..... Touval August 2014 ....... 30:22 ..... Touval August 2014 ....... 30:22 ..... breakingu * August 2014 ....... 29:02 ..... breakingu January 2015 ...... 29:00 ..... jeremythompson February 2015 ..... 28:51 ..... jeremythompson February 2015 ..... 28:36 ..... jeremythompson March 2015 ........ 27:17 ..... jeremythompson July 2015 ......... 27:16 ..... jeremythompson August 2015 ....... 27:09 ..... jeremythompson --------------------------------------------- * October 2015 ...... 26:11 ..... breakingu November 2015 ..... 26:05 ..... jeremythompson January 2016 ...... 26:03 ..... jeremythompson January 2016 ...... 25:39 ..... jeremythompson May 2016 .......... 25:23 ..... jeremythompson July 2016 ......... 24:57 ..... jeremythompson March 2017 ........ 24:53 ..... jeremythompson March 2017 ........ 24:52 ..... jeremythompson March 2017 ........ 24:47 ..... jeremythompson May 2017 .......... 24:47 ..... jeremythompson May 2017 .......... 24:32 ..... jeremythompson May 2017 .......... 24:28 ..... jeremythompson July 2017 ......... 24:21 ..... jeremythompson December 2017 ..... 24:12 ..... jeremythompson March 2018 ........ 24:08 ..... jeremythompson May 2018 .......... 24:06 ..... jeremythompson July 2018 ......... 24:03 ..... jeremythompson December 2018 ..... 24:03 ..... jeremythompson February 2019 ..... 23:58 ..... jeremythompson * Note - I'm unsure whether or not breakingu's 30:22 was faster than Touval's 30:22, so, while it may have been the record at the time, it was not necessarily so. * Note - All times before the noted line used PS2 (Disc Load Speed - Standard, version 1.1, no save block created). All times after the noted line used PSTV (Disc Load Speed - Fast, version 1.0, no save block created).
