[0:40]Natalie Mcbeef groans and pushes the glass away from her, cradling her head in her arms on the table, "I don't even want to drink..." she sits up and looks at kayah, "Have you ever done something you didn't want to, because you had to?"
[0:42]C'kayah Tia furrows his brow, leaning across the table. "Nat? What happened?"
[0:43]Natalie Mcbeef: "I finally found Roen"
[0:44]C'kayah Tia cocks his head, his eyes fixed on hers. "Finally? I didn't know she was missing..."
[0:44]Natalie Mcbeef takes her drink and swirls it around, "She was gone for a week, I had to make excuses for her, she even missed her trial with Anelia..."
[0:44]Natalie Mcbeef: "She refused to tell me where she had been and why she was missing..."
[0:44]C'kayah Tia winces. "She did that once before, didn't she?"
[0:45]Natalie Mcbeef nods, taking a sip of her drink, "She did..." she sighs, "So I told her she was out"
[0:45]Natalie Mcbeef loops up at the ceiling, "Gods Kayah, what a waste"
[0:45]C'kayah Tia closes his eyes for a moment and just breathes. "Nat, I'm so sorry. She was your apprentice..."
[0:46]Natalie Mcbeef sighs, "I know... I'm more dissapointed in myself, I should have realized it before"
[0:47]Natalie Mcbeef: "If she left once, she'll probably leave again, that's what they told me but..." she downs the rest of her drink, "I decided to take a chance on her"
[0:47]Natalie Mcbeef looks down at her empty glass, "The last one they'll let me take for a while, seeing what happened"
[0:48]C'kayah Tia: "No, Nat", he says, opening his eyes and looking at her. "I think you were right to take the chance. She deserved it. But you couldn't make her commit - she's the only one who could. Did she at least explain, after you threw her out?"
[0:49]Natalie Mcbeef shakes her head, "She gave some nonesense story"
[0:50]C'kayah Tia purses his lips and considers that. "You sure it was nonsence?"
[0:50]Natalie Mcbeef: "That people were watching her and her family was in danger" she laughs bitterly, "Apparently they had me under surveillance as well"
[0:50]Natalie Mcbeef: "I've heard it all over the years, I at least expected her to come up with a better excuse"
[0:51]Natalie Mcbeef: "Well no matter, she can do as she likes now, and her father has been treated by the medical corps"
[0:51]Natalie Mcbeef stands up and heads to the bar, "You want anything else?"
[0:51]C'kayah Tia takes a drink of brandy, hissing as the liquor burns down his throat. "Nat, what do you mean her father has been treated by the medical corps?"
[0:53]Natalie Mcbeef: "Oh? I never told you? She left the first time because she said her father was ill, she needed to earn money to treat him"
[0:54]Natalie Mcbeef: "I pulled some strings to have one of the royal physicians look at him, thought that would allow her to focus on her training"

[0:54]C'kayah Tia: "Was he? Ill, I mean?"
[0:54]Natalie Mcbeef pours more whiskey from a bottle into her glass, then sets it on the table.

[0:55]Natalie Mcbeef: "She seemed quite excited when she told me, so I don't think it was a lie"
[0:56]C'kayah Tia tilts his glass this way and that, watching the brandy move within it. "Nat, there's no chance that there's anything to what she said, is there?"

[0:58]Natalie Mcbeef: "Who would have the resources, and why?"
[1:00]C'kayah Tia shakes his head and smiles at her. "Nat, she identified one of the zealots guarding the ceruleum we were trying to steal. And we were all double-crossed by The Rose. You don't think there's the slightest chance...?"

[1:01]Natalie Mcbeef: "But Kayah it's not like she's never lied to me before"
[1:01]Natalie Mcbeef: "Our first few conversations were nothing but lies"

[1:03]C'kayah Tia smiles at her, his eyes flickering. "You remember when you were investigating that murder? The Roegadyn? And it turned out all the leads pointed to Suri?"
[1:04]Natalie Mcbeef: "Of course, what about it?"
[1:05]C'kayah Tia holds up his glass. "I told you some pretty wild tales when you were asking me about it. But I turned out to have good reason to, didn't I?"
[1:06]Natalie Mcbeef shakes her head, "But you weren't in training to be one her Grace's sultansworn"
[1:06]C'kayah Tia spreads his hands. "Granted, things would have gone better for everyone if I'd have just trusted you and told you everything, but I didn't know I could trust you with that at the time."
[1:06]C'kayah Tia leans across the table. "Why did you take Roen as an apprentice, Nat?"
[1:06]Natalie Mcbeef: "Because I saw myself in her"
[1:06]C'kayah Tia: "Did you trust her?"
[1:07]Natalie Mcbeef: "I thought her confused and misunderstood, wanting to make a difference, but not sure how"

[1:26]C'kayah Tia washes it down with the rest of his glass of brandy. "And if she is in trouble, at least I can let you know that. I know", he says, holding his hands up palms out, "she'd have to tell you the details. But you'd at least know that the truth was there..."
