@EnhancedUnmend Except the reason it's an issue for GNB is it forces out other oGCDs that might keep you alive like defensive mits or being able to walk away from the boss. SAM has neither of these issues.

@Redwynne I don't need it to be good at SAM, it's about the feel of the class. An Iaijutsu is a two step action. Sheathe, Draw. The Kaiten was the Sheathe, the Iaijutsu was the Draw. It made the mechanics match the aesthetic of the class.

@notmistral the SAM changes aren't bad imo. they're removing a button that let's skills do more damage and changing it to those skills being an automatic crit

Removing Kaiten makes sense; a skill you always use before other skills is just bloat. Better to just adjust the skills you use it for and then remove the pointless extra button.

Sam plays like a tank now, there is nohting to manage
it was default you always use kaiten for iaijutsu but it brought an element of kenki management to the job

@BritBout with respect, I main a samurai and that is the only job I love playing. I just don't like playing any other jobs. And I have play tested the gameplay before changes are out WITHOUT kaiten. Tell me what other kenki spenders do we have that increases our DPS? There's only one.
Kaiten being gone makes it so you just spam Shinten all the time or pool Kenki when 2min buffs are gonna be up. Kenki gauge management absolutely gone.

@Blue23345 again, i don't disagree that there were better things to get rid of first. but at the end of the day it was just a filler ability to spend kenki, as is shinten, just spam that more and you'll be rid of your kenki gauge woes, getting rid of filler abilities is a step in the right direction to keep hotbars from getting so bloateded

With all respect to square enix devs, but I ignore the flaw with the removal of kaiten with respect to other jobs having similar abilties like dragoon and machinist with life surge and reassemble being essentially enhacing abilties for big attacks. If button bloast was an issue i would say dragoon and machinist are far more busier jobs than samurai yet they did not scrap life surge and reassmble as opposed to kaiten......

honestly, with kaiten removal, i wanna ask: what even is the point of kenki now. guren/senei has a long cd, ikishoten is really used mostly for ogi namikiri (sure, useful on lower levels), dash is a rare occurence and kyuten is for dungeon use and shinten is just an ogcd dps filler.

I main neither Sam, nor Ninja, but can see the fears of losing their flavor of playstyle, Kaiten felt nice in combos, and Ninja's mudra juggling was always fun part, the fact their raid buff is just a single button now with no mudra input is like losing part of their job style of executing special moves.

Doton pre-pull removal is pretty wonderful, and Kaiten will be sorely missed. But at least SAM is getting a bit more streamlined without completely changing its flow.
