DoT/HoT Tests -- Solo test -- Using 1 DoT on 5 Training Dummies, all 5 DoTs ticked at the same time. Using 2 different DoTs, alternating, across 5 Training Dummies, all 5 DoTs ticked at the same time. Using 2 different DoTs, alternating, across 4 Training Dummies then a Circle (Flame Arrow) on the 5th Dummy, 4 DoTs ticked together, Circle ticked separately. Conclusion: DoTs use the same timer, Circle uses own timer. -- Duo test -- Person 2 using 1 DoT on 5 Training Dummies, all 5 DoTs ticked at the same time. Person 2 using 1 DoT on 5 Training Dummies, then Person 1 using a different DoT on 5 Training Dummies. All DoTs ticked at the same time. Marked two pairs of Dummies, Person 2 hardcast Circle (Shadowflare) on target A, Person 1, roughly a second after Person 2 cast completed, Swiftcast Circle on target B. Both ticked at separate timers. 1 DoT cast, also ticked at different timer. 3 Timers essentially existed at this point. Conclusion: DoTs use the same timer, each Circle uses own timer. ---- Changed area; Person 1 and 2 cast Regen on selves. Both ticked separately. Person 1 cast Regen on both 1 and 2, both ticked separately. Person 1 cast Medica 2 on both 1 and 2, both ticked separately. Person 1 cast Medica 2 on both, then Regen on self. Both people ticked separately, but Regen and Medica 2 on Person 1 merged together. Person 1 cast Medica 2, person 2 put DoTs on 2 Training Dummies. Both dummies ticked together, both players ticked separately, so 3 timers existed. Conclusion: DoTs use the same timer, HoTs on targets use separate. -- 4 Person Test -- 4 entered a dungeon together. All 4 cast Regen stagged on selves. All ticked at same time. Person 1 cast Medica 2 on all. All ticked at the same time. Conclusion: You all tick at the same rate when you enter together. -- Duo Test -- Person 1 stood outside house. Person 2 entered house. Person 2 exited house, timer started as soon as person 2 appeared in party list. At 5 seconds after person 2 appeared, person 1 cast regen on them. On the 6th second, Regen ticked. Conclusion: When a player enters a zone, there own person timer is created. ---- Found an area with many enemies. DoT'd all the enemies. All ticked at different rates. Killed all enemies with Holy spam. Died at the same time, within 200 ms. All enemies spawned together (within 200 ms). DoT'd all enemies. All DoT's ticked together (within 200 ms). Conclusion: When an object, player or otherwise is created in a zone, it gains its own timer. ---- Found an enemy with a DoT. Hit Player 2 with the DoT, then Regen. Regen and DoT ticked together (Not merged, separate numbers). Conclusion: All DoTs and HoTs apply at the same time. ----- Person 1 cast Regen on Person 2. Person 2 summoned Pet. Person 1 cast Regen on Pet. Both person 2 and pet ticked separately. Pet was 3 seconds from creation. Conclusion: Confirmation of all the above. ---- Person 1 casts Regen (Eos Whispering Dawn) on self, then uses a Shadowflare. Shadowflare and Regen tick together. Person 2 uses Flaming arrow on dummy. Person 1 uses Regen on Person 2 after a Flame tick. Flaming Arrow and Regen tick together. Conclsuion: AoE Circles go by the uses pulse timer. ---- Person 1 casts Regen (Eos Whispering Dawn) on self, then uses a Sacred Soil away from them. Run into soil just after a regen tick. Soil doesn't apply for upwards of 3 seconds (next regen tick). Conclusion: Soil applies the buff based on the casters pulse. ---- Overall conclusion; When an instance of an object is created in a zone, it starts its own pulse, this triggers every 3 seconds. At the pulse point, all DoTs and HoTs are applied. All objects will have their own pulse because of this, this is not a server based timing, but a per object timing. This counts for Characters, Enemies, and other targetable objects. Circles apply damage based on their users pulse. It applies the hit to all targets at the same time based on the users pulse, not the targets pulse. Sacred Soil follows the rule as above. It applies the shield buff on every pulse, meaning if you get in just after a pulse you will have to wait up to 3 seconds to receive the buff. Since training dummies exist since forever, then their timers line up. As players enter normal zones at different times, they tick differently. This also applies to enemies being killed at different times. When you enter a dungeon, you are all put in the instance at the same time, although you may load at different speeds, your pulses are in sync. Further testing; *Enter a Dungeon with 4 WHMs, Medica 2, all will be in sync, then DoT an enemy. If all are in sync (DoT and 4 HoTs) then instances are created, or at least populated on demand. If DoTs is at a different time then instances are either created regularly, or are created person needed (Instances are reserved acording to Duty Finder messages) so they are most likely created regularly then players are put in them. If it is created at the same time as you enter though, it means your pulse will sync with the enemies. *Enter a Dungeon, have one person die, Raise them, then see if you are all still in sync. Deaths may or may not reset your pulse? *Enter a Dungeon, have one person disconnect/shutdown, then log back in, see if you are all still in sync. Most likely you are removed from the instance so your pulse will start when you enter back into the instance.
