-Albrecht von Adlershorst: The eldest son, second child, and heir apparent of the Duke of Greifswald, among the elder members of the court, he is nicknamed Albrecht the younger, referring to his namesake, the Archbishop of Libau, who was knighted for his deeds in saving a village from bandits. Former commander of the Greifswalder section of the crusade. Managed to wed a Mithradian princess, and returned home a rich man. Eleanora von Adlershorst (Maiden name: von Füchsbau): wife and Duchess of Dietrich and, as such, head of the Ducal household. She was born into a family of nobles who live in the east on relatively poor land that is mostly used to herd sheep. Unfortunately for the family, her parents both died before any of her younger brothers were of age, leaving her to manage the land for them. Afterwards, she returned to playing an old hobby of hers, chess. Dietrich met her after narrowly defeating her in a chess match. She was chosen as Dietrich's future bride and was married to him half a year later. She is the mother of all three of his children. Standoffish and overly formal at times, but does care for her family. Queen-dowager of Greifswald.

-Anastasia of Mithras: The youngest daughter of the Emperor Anastasios of Mithras, she met Albrecht while on the run from scheming eunuchs, they eventually fell in love, and were wed in Mithras. She finds the world outside her homeland fascinating. And has an interest in a variety of subjects.

-Brünhilde (informally: Hilde) von Adlershorst: The eldest child of the Duke of Greifswald, as well as his eldest daughter, of a curious disposition. Is married to Ernst Ludwig, heir to the important Landgraviate of Goslaren.


Charlotte (informally: Lotte) is the third child and second daughter of the Duke of Greifswald. Is currently a child.

In-laws 

Reinhard von Füchsbau, the brother-in-law of Dietrich and count of Fuchshügel and Konradsdorf, although he was orphaned at a young age, nevertheless took up his duties without too much hassle. He participated in a tournament held by Dietrich, and although he did not win, he did agree to open negotiations to marry off his sister to Dietrich. Afterwards, his fortunes began to change as, after participating in Dietrich's rebellion, he managed to acquire a new fiefdom, which, in contrast to his native holdings, was full of bountiful soil. He is currently busy investing the profits of his new fief to improve the infrastructure and irrigation systems of Fuchshügel.

Retainers, vassals, and other prominent personages

Philippe de Thrahifrere is a former crusader from Aurilie who chased his treasonous brother across the continent for vengeance. He is noted to be both an excellent jouster and rider, although he suffers from melancholy from feeling he failed his comrades at Macilar.

Georg: Dietrich's former squire, whom he rescued from his half-brother at the tournament, is the bastard son of the baron of Lilienthal. As a bastard, he is not entitled to use the last name of his father. Notable for his notable strength and toughness, a bit withdrawn and quiet. Currently serves as Burgvogt (Castellan) for a royal castle out east.

Crusading Knights
-Ehrenfriend von Issenwald: A former knight-errant and mentor of Albrecht. He has seen much of Argalis in his youth due to his travels abroad, has a disdain for serfdom and slavery.

-Konrad von Heichsgau: A noble from the north of Greifswald, prefer a cautious approach to matters.

-Adelhardt von Hirschkrichen: A son of a vassal of Dietrichs, young and eager, though a bit reckless
The Empire of Mithras

-Eleftherios: A Mithradian scholar of philosophy who taught Albrecht Mithradian and the basics of classical philosophy.

Posthumous characters

-Abrecht von Adlershorst (The elder): A former crusader, knight, and archbishop of Libau who served as first a monk and then a chaplain for the order of the Argent Stars. He fought in the great Northern Crusade, both in Vollingen and in Greifswald. He fell out irrevocably with the leadership of the order sometime after the crusade, which let him begin scheming to replace the order in Greifswald. Not only that, but he eventually succeeded by installing his nephew Dietrich in Grünwald, whom he assisted with financial and ecclesiastical support during the rebellion. He passed away in his sleep in 1244.
-Emperor Anastasios: The former emperor of Mithras, has a reputation for Callousness, Albrecht had to tamper with his testament to save his empire.
-Dietrich von Adlershorst was the second son of a baron in the Margravate of Fluddenmark, in the Empire of Tautenland. He was brought to Greifswald to act as a counterweight to the order of knights that ruled it on behalf of his influential granduncle, Albrecht von Adlershorst. To accomplish this, Albrecht had arranged for Dietrich to become Count of Grünwald, from where he still rules. He has proven himself a capable ruler and military commander, who successfully organised a rebellion against the order. Subsequently, he reorganised the collection of fiefs and statelets into the duchy of Greifswald, with which he is still busy consolidating it so it may continue in the long term, he eventually became King of Greifswald before passing away.
