well, that's quite a whirlwind of two dreams.

1.

it begins with me and my former high school classmates in the old dormitory hall in the elementary building. we're all sitting in a dark, dimly lit room full of beds, when an invisible alarm goes off, and i panic, running out, until the teacher tells us to go back, even though i can plainly see the fire behind us in the deeper hall.

i go back. the teacher tells us to get all our possessions, and i realize that's actually a pretty good idea, so i grab my laptop and backpack. THEN we're allowed to run out of the room, into the hall, where i feel the fire and smoke getting closer. everybody else's already outside, except for us and the principal who's urging us out.

we run and run outdoors, until we come to a variety of stair cases - which appear familiar to me from a previous dream at an airport - that we suddenly separate into groups, and i'm with a bunch of funny little creatures. i think they were potatoes? let's go with sentient potatoes. i follow them up and down and everywhere, until they urge me to climb somewhere to get to a spot, which i do nervously.

we arrive at this huge floor of pools. i settle down until i see my little potato friends arguing about something - feeding someone? stopping an ancient, malvolent entity from reemerging? wait, yeah, that was it. they were told by their leader - who looked like not too much a fighter - to chant something or to eat each other. i can't remember what exactly they did, but once they did it, the shrine to the entity hissed, and stopped glowing.

then i leave my table and jump into the pool, but something goes awry... i can't remember what exactly again. i swam in a circle, and then i discover that i slept in the pool for hours. maybe.


2.

i've been walking for hours. i don't know how i got to this point, but i'm holding a plastic, 3D map in an oval shape of this place. it's in the middle of nowhere, sunny, plentiful farmland all around me besides the dirt road i've been walking on. my destination is the end of this map, where it cuts off, where there's supposed to be this great, awesome farmer's market with all sorts of cool foods.

i have these internal thoughts and fears. how did i even get here? where's my dad and mom? weren't we supposed to be on this road trip together? how do i get back?

i put them aside as i reach what i think is the end of the map. a man spots me, and i see him too as he draws his gun, aiming at me. i raise my arms, dropping my map, trying to show that i mean no harm. he puts his gun back into his belt and takes me to the family household.

once we're inside, i see a simplistic interior, kind of what you'd expect from a big family on a farm, and the man is a father with a wife. they have about five children in the dining room. i have a conversation - but in sign language! while the adults don't know much sign, the children do, and a little girl talks to me in broken ASL.

then i walk outside, where they have berry trees, with the branches just a bit too high for me to reach, but where delicious fruit like blackberries, grapefruit, and more fall constantly. half a perfectly cut grapefruit falls into my hand, and i taste it, and it's the most amazing fruit i've ever tasted. but someone snatches it out of my hand.

i'm harassed by this asshole that i knew from school. i run and run away from the farm, where its matriarch follows me, into my gated community, where everything is my family's. my dad is here. i'm home. it's not even the home that i know, it's a new home.

but they invade and invade under the pretense of helping. we try to stop them, but... they ruin everything.
