Ryan Background

Ryan was raised in a small apartment complex in downtown Mountainview City, born some years prior to the release of the Monsters. He lived relatively quietly with both parents actively participating in his life, having few close friends that drifted away as he grew up. Despite his parents both working hard and long hours, they struggled to put food on the table, let alone keep the apartment they lived in. This put him on track to an unfulfilled lifestyle, which contributed to a Depressed stage in his life. By 16, he managed to graduate high school (or secondary school, whatever the standard is) though, due to his parents' lack of funds, never attended college. Instead, he focused on getting a job and helping provide. Despite his helpfulness, his parents nonetheless die by Age 40, only two years following his graduation. He kept this lifestyle up until he started missing consecutive rent payments, eventually ending with his eviction from the apartment at Age 23. Having nowhere to go and little to live for, Ryan contemplated his entire life before attempting to drown himself in the Moonlight Ocean. Slowly sinking beneath the waves of the sea, he was met by the newly-arrived SJ, who came in search of, what he believed, was one of his soul fragments. SJ offered Ryan an ultimatum: Die alone, having suffered endlessly, or help SJ potentially spread his influence and gain a following "just for the fun of it all".

SJ: "Prima in tenebras, et renasci meus fidelis acolytus. Desperato, non" (Into the Primal Darkness, be reborn my faithful acolyte. Hopeless, no longer.)

Ryan's SOUL was changed and his body as well. He swore fealty and his entire faith to his new "God", the Primordial known as SJ. He went on to work hard, having bought a, relatively intact, church building within the ruins near Newer Home, serving to those who follow the "Dark Primordis" religion, created to help SJ gain influence. He often preaches in King's Park.
