In the late 22nd Century, humanity was faced with the threat of utter annihilation. A cosmic figure of immense, incalculable size, one that could only be described as an eldritch god, collided with the sun, causing flares and manner of debris to crash into the earth. Though billions perished in what would later be called the Heavenfall Incident, humanity survived in the stars.

The centuries following would be spent awaiting the day that Earth would once again be habitable by humans. In that interim, humanity exceeded what was physically possible, and harnessed arcane forces to their whim, constructing great structures in geosynchronous orbit. And after many, many years, the day for mankind’s homecoming finally came… only to find that what was waiting for them there was less than receptive to humanity’s return.

It is now the year 1607 MSE of the Imperial Reclamation Calendar.

You are all students of St. Yggdrasil’s Academy for the Arcane, one of seven research institutions aligned with the Imperial Atheneum. You have been studying and training for your entire lives for this singular mission: the liberation of Earth from those who would deign to call it their own.
