- HP T610 Thin Client 4GB, 16 GB SSD, Windows XP SP3 installation notes
- ========================
- - Connected T610 to HDMI monitor via DVI-to-HDMI adapter
- - Installed Windows XP SP3 from CD using an external USB DVD-Burner. I just couldn't get the bootable USB stick to boot correctly, but booting from CD-Rom worked fine.
- - Ran the full 21 GB Snappy Drivertool installation from USB stick, and installed all recommended drivers (several reboots required)
- - Snappy doesn't install the Catalyst control panel, so I found and installed working Catalyst Driver for XP: 14-4-xp32-64-dd-ccc-pack2.exe
- - Adjusted over/underscan setting in Catalyst to remove the annoying black screen borders
- - Installed TweakUI (TweakUIPowertoySetup.exe, XP version) and used it to disable automatic hard disk optimization
- Optional:
- - Installed DirectX 9.0c. Re-installed Catalyst after DirectX 9.0c installation, because DirectX overwrote the display driver with a generic one.
- - Installed my licensed copy of Directory Opus 12, Windows XP version, for advanced file management with zip handling.
- - Installed Winrar (wrar600.exe) for rar handling.
- - Bought 500 GB external Samsung SSD, connected as D:\ drive, and installed many games from gog.com to it. Gog.com games work on XP. Select the option to "Download Offline Backup Game Installers" on gog.com to get standalone installers. Then run the installers directly on the Thin Client to install the games. The target drive can be selected in the installer.
