  1. >Sterling Robotics rolled out these proto designs a year ago. Weslie understood this. A random lottery of only the most trusted employee’s with a high enough quality standard of living to take care of these “Little Ones” they would need alot of love and care and those who were entered in the Lottery were considered model candidates...and they would also receive a bonus in their check to take care of them.
  2.
  3. >Weslie rubbed her brow, looking outside her window as “SX-0011” ran around her yard, looking for “samples” to return to her ship, which just so happened to be the silver can that a man picked up once a week, every week. Looking at her child didn’t help her train of thought, rather it just reminded her that she needs to place the recycle bin out before it gets too late.
  4.
  5. >Where was she? Oh yeah, she remembered….”But what aren’t they telling me?” The Blond women put on her glasses as she examined the paper she got a year ago from the companies higher ups
  6.
  7. >It told her that “SX-0011 was expected to be a bit of a handful, but she would be under control in no time as long as she had 0011 a firm but guiding hand. Like most children, expect her to talk back on occasion and have a fondness to be “eccentric. Oh, and to “not be alarmed” if she had a hobby that dominated her interests. For Tilly, it ended up becoming Space, anything related to space really.
  8.
  9. >How lucky for her then, she too happened to have a fondness for the final frontier as well, and how convenient it was that this topic had allowed the two of them many good little loving moments together.
  10.
  11. >Like the time-.
  12. >Oh shit, Tilly ran head forward into the trash can again.
  13. >Weslie jumped from her cozy spot on the window sill, and pressed her face against the glass, shouting out her adopted child’s name.
  14. >“TILLY?!”
  15. >The little robot hopped right back up and smiled, waving to her mother with her oversized blue coat. She wore a cardboard helmet that had some old TV antenna on top, luckily it looks like it took most of the damage of the impact once again, seemingly having another few dents inward.
  16. >Tilly’s face was undamaged, save for the gap in her teeth. This would be some cause for Alarm, had Tilly not already knocked out her teeth some time ago. 7 months ago to be precise.
  17.
  18. >”I’m Okey!” Tilly let out with a bit of spit, her gap made saying some words more challenging for herself and she ended up spitting her words out alot
  19.
  20. >Weslie sighed in relief and smiled at the little one. Her child returned the smile, and then went back to her expedition on her lawn.
  21.
  22. >7 Months ago Weslie thought some higher up would have her job when she had to report back that Tilly lost her synthetic front tooth. But when she submitted her monthly report and got the follow up response...not so much as a peep. Not a care. Just the typical diatrid of what they want to her to do with Tilly the following month.
  23.
  24. >To some extent, it provided some ounce of relief, letting her know that these little kids can take some bruisings. Still her motherly instincts always kicked into overdrive whenever she was in trouble or danger.
  25.
  26. >Checking her fancy wrist watch, that she shameless bought using some of the excess cash she had from one of the bonuses in her paycheck, she knew dinner would be ready in about five minutes. Right now seemed like a good time for Tilly to wrap up her playtime.
  27.
  28. >On the other side of the glass, Tilly was in a completely different world
  29.
  30. >She grabbed some more grass from the dirt and mouthed the sounds of the microphones that those astronauts make whenever they talked back forth in space.
  31.
  32. “Krrth! Spath Control to Land Controll, we’re gonna needth more Green Crythtal Thamples!”
  33. “Psthhh, Rother that, I will re-thurn with more Green Crthals ASAP!” Her robotic fingers ripped apart the seamless landscape she crawled upon, tucking them into her special hazardous environment suit that was made to withstand this planets strange landscape.
  34.
  35. “I donth get it tho! Spath Control! The predicthons from tha boyths in tha Lab said that TOI 700B wath ment to have a Rock Surthace! But, I keep seething alot off enviormenths that rethemble those of Planet Earth!”
  36.
  37. >Out from the East, Tilly picked up another voice on her cardboard monitors, her helmet display told her a tall women was fast approaching the ground control team and her rocket, with seemingly another large rocket of her own, but unlike her’s, this rocket had a blue exterior and the Alien approached Tilly even faster. Now in her vision, she identified the Alien was a mammal, perhaps even human. It wore a long green shirt with a turtleneck, brown pants, and white button up shirt that currently wasn’t buttoned.
  38.
  39. >“Well if you keep at it, soon it will look like TOI, if you keep tearing up my lawn.” said the women, placing the recycle bin next to her bent and broken up trash can. Tilly identified the dumb ape’s gobble-dee-gook as English, it WAS human! And that it could only be ONE Human, one that was very close to her tiny robot heart.
  40.
  41. >“Mama!” Tilly ran up and took off her helmet. Wrapping her arms around her, though it was a bit hard, as Tilly’s oversized blue jean sweater was clearly too big for her, her arms didn’t even reach the end of the sleeves .
  42.
  43. >“So… tell me. What kinda trouble are you running into on this little expedition of your’s?” Weslie asked with a smile. Kneeling down to look face to face
  44.
  45. >“Tha whole area hath been atthacked by a unknown creature!” She flapped her arms in alarm
  46.
  47. >“Really? Can you tell me what it looks like?” Weslie spoke, her voice holding concern, coming closer to Tilly’s face
  48.
  49. >“Ith must be a horned quandrthoped! It muth used ith’ horns and clawths to tear up the ground to mark ith’s territory, it could be really cloth!” Tilly spoke with authority and certainty, as this worlds little explorer, she was certified and knew she had to be right about all of her statements, even if she hadn’t seen a thing crawl around on all floors and eat grass.
  50.
  51. >Her caretaker leaned in close, sheer terror on her face, her mouth wide open, eyes lost in their thousand yard stare, a stare that pierced Tilly’s fiber optics.
  52.
  53. >“Tilly I think I know where the monster is.” She whispered real close, tightening the air around Tilly.
  54.
  55. >“W...w-where?”
  56. >Weslie leaned into her ear piece, and said four words
  57. >“I think it’s you.” She said chillingly, her words so smooth and sharp.
  58. With one swift motion, Wesie lips smooched onto Tillie’s cheek hard, her arms wrapping fully around her, and lifting her into the sky like a rocket leaving the Earth.
  59.
  60. >“THOP! HAHAHAHA! MAMA THOP!” The childs voice rocked back and forth between laughter and a joyfull words.
  61.
  62. >“Not yet!” Weslie had too much fun doing this. Why stop when she could do one or two more kisses on her cheek? Or even start rubbing her cheek on that cute little face? Tilly’s cheek parts hummed a healthy Red.
  63.
  64. >Weslie’s game continued for about a minute, until she finally gave her little robot the freedom she wanted.
  65.
  66.
  67. >Tilly left her caretakers’ arms, with her new found liberty she picked up her helmet and looked back to Weslie, seeing she extended her hand
  68.
  69. >“Come on kiddo, its time for dinner.”
  70. >“Okay!” Tilly reached out and grabbed her hand, as she was led back into their house, the smell of something in the oven spread throughout the house. Tily remembered what they taught her at school, in order to grow up big and strong, she had to eat whatever her parents gave them for dinner. They would provide a healthy diet of vegetables, grains, and fruits that were essential for healthy living. Eating whatever Weslie would put on her plate tonight was just one more step on her road to being the first robot to land on the moon, and then colonize the stars.
  71.
  72.
  73. >And yet…
  74.
  75. “Can I-”
  76. “No Tilly, your gonna eat the Meatloaf, I’m not giving you Dinosaur nuggies again.”
