  1.
  2. Quincy Pallene opened the door, then paused just inside. "...ah, have you seen my...my father?"
  3.
  4. (Jancis Milburga) Okay! Ten minutes later no worries! There was a mix up in one person signing up and not and tags and etc. But we're all here starting the scene int he infirmary! This is a semi narrative one-shot I think it'll take 3 or so hours but if you have to go we can write it out to something useful.
  5. (Jancis Milburga) I'll plan a little break about halfway through so we can all stand up. ^_^
  6. (Killian De'bayle) I'll have to leave around 11 to raid.
  7. (Killian De'bayle) (Just as a heads up!)
  8. (Jancis Milburga) I do minor rolls for certain things but I'll ask people for strengths and weaknesses to play it by ear! Okay sounds good Killian we can include that at the break time it's good points.
  9. (Jancis Milburga) I'm in voice and we have party for questions.
  10. (Killian De'bayle) I moved to the RP channel because there's so many people in the main chat channel and it got so loud that my husband woke up. >:
  11. (Jancis Milburga) Otherwise I'm a little shakey tonight so any extra patience would be highly grateful for.
  12. (Jancis Milburga) Yeah the voice just exploded.
  13. (Jancis Milburga) Okay here we go ^_^
  14. (Jacline Kerelle) All I ask is you give me a little heads up for any crucial info said in voice chat. I don't really like voice, especially not while RPing, way too distracting for me, lol
  15. (Ulysses Derosiers) ^
  16. Jancis Milburga looks away from the last bed, occupied, and looks up gratefully at everyone. "Keeper's Grace, thank you for gathering. I am beyond my means with this case."
  17. Jancis Milburga ||The infirmary is as clean and pristine as ever with one of the younger squires taking up the last bed for as much peace and privacy as possible.
  18. Jacline Kerelle strolls in behind Cinnabar, hands in her pockets and a crunchy bread stick hanging out of her mouth. "Wuh we hea hur gin?" The breadstick bounces.
  19. Quincy Pallene looks briefly at Jacline in horror -- that's not sanitary breadstick consumption!
  20. Ulysses Derosiers provides a dip of his brow in affirm, "It is the very least that we can do, Madame."
  21. Jancis Milburga pauses awhile, looking apologetically at Jacline. "I did not hear you, forgive me."
  22. Killian De'bayle 's lips twitch downward into a slight frown, but that's the only change that can be seen in his expression thanks to the shaded lenses masking his eyes.
  23. Cinnabar Prentice entered in relative quiet, joining the congregation. Crunch crunch... Much good that did, with the sprigganheaded elezen tailing! "Oh, uhm... Searching, for herbs, I believe... For, an antidote, as it were."
  24. Jacline Kerelle bites off the end of the breadstick and removes it from her maw. Crunch crunch. She points at Cinnabar with the food item and nods.
  25. Cinnabar Prentice smiles at Jacline Kerelle.
  26. Lionnet Blodoint places a hand reassuringly on Quincy's shoulder, lightly yet firmly. There are a lot of people here! It's a small space. Dad instincts kick in.
  27. Jancis Milburga: "Let me explain as best as I can. I know the other staff have been keeping Squire Claude comfortable. But if we do not find the right antidote he will not recover completely or perhaps recover at all. We are buying time from Thal's embrace at this rate."
  28. Quincy Pallene quietly and awkwardly pats his father's hand and gingerly removes it.
  29. Jacline Kerelle is taken aback by you.
  30. Jacline Kerelle: "Sounds dire! Good thing I brought my serious hat." CRUNCH crunchcrunch.
  31.
  32. Jancis Milburga motions back to the squire, "He was kind enough to accompany to Gyr Abania to find some plants, he had not been there before. We were staying the night and getting food."
  33. Jancis Milburga: "We were attacked in Ala Ghiri. Getting a drink and a man pushed Lord Claude here. He stood up and confronted the man, but then three others stood up as well. It looked like a pushing and something of a brawl. It was quelled quickly enough, not before they got quite a few blows on him. I took Claude back to his room to tend to his wounds when I realized someone had a knife. No slashes, but a deep puncture."
  34. Lionnet Blodoint side-eyes Jacline. "This is not a joking matter. Now, Miss Milburga- have you determined the nature of this... poison, I would assume?"
  35. Jacline Kerelle eyeballs Lionnet. She was quite serious!
  36. Jancis Milburga: "A bell later after mending what I could he looked just as bad. Yes. Poisoned. It has been slow process to heal him enough to bring back here. Took me nearly a sennight, but I understand now what it is. It is two venoms. One simple one to mask the other. This toxin goes dormant under aether only to resprout once the surge has passed."
  37. Jancis Milburga nods earnestly with Lionnet. "So we must gather this toxin to create the correct antidote that will, Twelve willing, take out the poison."
  38. Ulysses Derosiers: "A complicated affair. Is this 'Claude' so appealing a target as to attract such a nefarious mixture?"
  39. Jacline Kerelle: "Seems a bit extravagant for a barroom brawl, don't it? Sounds like professional work."
  40. Cinnabar Prentice: "Or.. Mayhap just a professional... And an odd circumstance? E-either way, it changes naught for, Squire Claude's condition..."
  41. Lionnet Blodoint: "Indeed."
  42. Jancis Milburga ||Claude is awake, his voice weak. "That I am." There's a bit of satire.
  43. Jancis Milburga: "It is nothing a brawl should have. Rhalgr would smite such a thing."
  44. Killian De'bayle: "It might be a test of the poison."
  45. Zike Lancean: "Well in any case, it doesn't matter much the reason it was used, we have to stop it's advance."
  46. Cinnabar Prentice scoots up, pace slow to keep the clatter of plates to a mimimum as she approaches the curtain's edge to look upon the bedridden squire, giving him a little nod of head and smile in greeting.
  47. Jancis Milburga ||Claude's name might not be on the top of anyone's head, but he's a recognizable face of a passing through squire learning outside of Ishgard and part of the house. A quick glance at him would make him usually a spry elezen of Ishgard.
  48. Jancis Milburga ||Claude looks like a wreck even in clean clothes and washed hair. He looks frail, unnaturally pale, eyes sunken, and weak.
  49. Ulysses Derosiers: "Do we have any leads on an antidote?"
  50. Jancis Milburga frowns thoughtfully, "I have worked with toxins and venoms many Turns. Young even. For how potent and quick it was, I dare think it would not store well. It must be from Gyr Abania."
  51. Jacline Kerelle nods in Killian's direction. "Could be. I heard of them types doin' worse. Assassins are right pricks, most times. Anyone asked at the Alchemist's Guild in Ul'dah?"
  52. Jancis Milburga: "That is a horrible means to test. And a malicious group. To get such a thing."
  53. Zike Lancean: "I assume if it's a simple measure to get an antidote, we wouldn't all be here."
  54. Lionnet Blodoint: "If it was a test, they would want to see the results, I would think."
  55. Jancis Milburga nods to Jacline, looking at her gratefully for the good idea, "Alas, they had the same conclusion. And with the Heavensturn they had no such antidote."
  56. Jancis Milburga: "They did give me another note that usually such toxins are found in water snakes, actually."
  57. Jacline Kerelle gazes upon you in deep reflection.
  58. Cinnabar Prentice , in the interim, stepped in along the curtain aside Claude's bed. PErhaps for no other reason than to help him feel integral with his would-be saviours, rather than an exhibit.
  59. (Ulysses Derosiers) BRB! ))
  60. Quincy Pallene looks very thoughtful, but has remained quiet.
  61.
  62. Killian De'bayle: "Water snakes in Gyr Abania?"
  63. Killian De'bayle: "Does that limit our search? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Gyr Abanian flora and fauna."
  64. Zike Lancean: "I wouldn't think water snakes would mix well with Gyr Abania's climate."
  65. Cinnabar Prentice: "Or, mayhap gazellehawks... or spiders... it, could be several creatures..."
  66. Quincy Pallene: "...I have a few books that might help."
  67. Jancis Milburga ||Claude raises his head up and tries to get on his elbows, giving Cinnabar a weak crook of the mouth, before settling back down.
  68. Jacline Kerelle: "I never even heard of no poison like that..."
  69. Jancis Milburga nods, "I have not seen one, either. I was hoping perhaps some people who live there would have a better idea to search for."
  70. Jacline Kerelle crunches thoughtfully. crunch crunchcrunch
  71. Quincy Pallene looks at Claude. Is this elezen squire about the same age as he is? Older, younger?
  72. Jancis Milburga: "I know it is a large task. All the more reason I need help for it."
  73. (Jancis Milburga) How old is Quincy?
  74. (Quincy Pallene) 16
  75. Quincy Pallene: "I
  76. Jancis Milburga ||Claude, usually in the daily routine, doesn't look any older than Quincy, but right now he does from the strain by a few years.
  77. Quincy Pallene: "I do hope we can help."
  78. (Jancis Milburga) I made up a NPC squire to be our little toxic victim so you know if you want to make up something about him please feel free.
  79. (Jancis Milburga) Good ol' Claude
  80. Lionnet Blodoint: "We will. Do not worry."
  81. Jancis Milburga: "Lord Quincy, I know you can. Very much so! Shall all think up something I would not."
  82. Killian De'bayle smiles a little apologetically. "I can stay here with Mister Claude if ye'd like someone to tend to him while ye're gone. Searching for things isn't really my strongest skill. I dunno how useful I'll be."
  83. Jacline Kerelle: "Don't sell yourself short! Every set of eyes helps!" Jacline gives Killian an enthusiastic thumbsup!
  84. Jancis Milburga: "I was not going to leave him alone. I-"
  85. Your eyes grow wide with awe upon seeing Jacline Kerelle.
  86. Jacline Kerelle: "You know. Figuratively."
  87. Jancis Milburga: "She is quite right! You can notice things that go dismissed usually."
  88. Jancis Milburga adds, "You are also an excellent voice of reason, Killian."
  89. (Ulysses Derosiers) Back, sorry! ))
  90. Quincy Pallene: "I've no field experience and look about the same age. I might be able to stay with him if such a thing is necessary. Um. And I'm...not a Lord, thank you."
  91. Zike Lancean: "I just hope between all of us we can find a lead better than randomly hunting for snakes across the desert."
  92. You gaze upon Quincy Pallene in deep reflection.
  93. Killian De'bayle 's brows furrow together in response to Jacline's comment, but he turns his attention back to Jancis when she speaks again. "A good voice of reason? I think...that's the first time anyone's told me as much. But if ye think I'll be of more use to ye there, then I will come."
  94. Ulysses Derosiers: "It can't be that difficult."
  95. Jancis Milburga: "I do not question your skill at continuing to heal. I do not want Claude to go through more than he already does if I can avoid it."
  96. Jacline Kerelle: "Think Jancis got the right idea. Ask the locals. Everywhere's got healers and such. Like my dad always used to say, 'Go ask someone who knows, nitwit!"
  97. Lionnet Blodoint: "When we had been called in, I thought this could pose a good learning experience for you, Quincy. But if it proves dangerous..."
  98. Ulysses Derosiers: "We have a wealth of brawn in the case of things becoming dangerous."
  99. Quincy Pallene: "You know, I've seen my fair share of danger, father. I just don't want to get in the way."
  100.
  101. Jancis Milburga peers at Killian, regardless, "Most curious. I do, though. And you have a great amount of experience in that landscape."
  102. Jancis Milburga looks at Ulysses and doesn't disagree.
  103. Zike Lancean: "Indeed. My skillset is far better served to protecting the weaker of us rather than hunting for antidotes."
  104. Jancis Milburga: "I think that is all I can offer you all. Pray find the beast that has this toxin and bring it back."
  105. Killian De'bayle: "I'll..." Killian grimaces. "I'll need...to share a chocobo...with someone..."
  106. Lionnet Blodoint crosses his arms and frowns, clearly not liking the idea of danger anywhere. "You are not wrong. It is up to you to choose your course of action, then."
  107. Jancis Milburga: "We stayed in Ala Ghiri, but none of the locals there knew the men. I thought to go back to Ala Gannha and ask there, but I dare not leave Claude's side for so long."
  108. (Quincy Pallene) Aha, I have discovered why I absolutely must stay here ICly.
  109. Quincy Pallene: "I'll assist, then."
  110. (Quincy Pallene) I have not started SB quests on Quincy. -sagenod-
  111. (Jacline Kerelle) Got the runs?
  112. (Jancis Milburga) Oh.
  113. (Jacline Kerelle) Oh
  114. (Jacline Kerelle) That's a good reason too
  115. (Cinnabar Prentice) LMAO.
  116. (Jancis Milburga) I'm sorry I didn't realize. I should have mentioned that in the discord. -_-
  117. (Jancis Milburga) I swear I've DM'ed things before. ////
  118. Jacline Kerelle tries to comfort you.
  119. Lionnet Blodoint smiles wryly. "Perhaps when we return you and Claude will have become the best of friends."
  120. Jancis Milburga: "I will be happy to show you what I can and watch your work. Claude is most likely tired of my attentions."
  121. (Quincy Pallene) It's alright. XD
  122. Jancis Milburga ||Claude pretends to sleep.
  123. Quincy Pallene: "...I would rather let him rest. I'm not that interesting."
  124. Ulysses Derosiers: "Knight-Captain, where do you think we should begin our search in earnest?"
  125. Killian De'bayle: "Quincy...if ye're staying..." Killian turns his head somewhat toward Jacline for the briefest of moments. "Would ye mind sweeping up the floors if ye have time? I'll mop them up later..."
  126. (Jancis Milburga) I'm really sorry.
  127. (Quincy Pallene) All good. :D I'll get some experience!
  128. Zike Lancean tapped his chin. "I'm not too familiar with the terrain of gyr abania. However, from what we've heard, we should probably ask around somewhere near water. If the source is a water snake."
  129. Lionnet Blodoint: "Gyr Abania is not my forte either, I'm afraid."
  130. Killian De'bayle: "Or Ala Gannha. That's where Lady Milburga had intended to visit, aye?"
  131. Quincy Pallene: "...Hello, Lord Claude. I'm Quincy. Please feel free to ask me for whatever you might require."
  132. Cinnabar Prentice: "I'm, no expert to the land, though I've traveled a mite there'bout... And, watersnakes are wont to keep to the water and, shade. Aye."
  133. Quincy Pallene: "...Well, Ala Gannha -is- near water, according to the map in one of my atlases."
  134. Killian De'bayle: "Ah...I wouldn't know."
  135. Quincy Pallene: "There's a lot of water in that place, actually, which is strange because all the paintings I've seen of it seem rather...brown."
  136. Ulysses Derosiers taps his chin, "We could enlist the help of a local, once we arrive in Ala Gannha, then?"
  137. Jancis Milburga ||Claude opens an eye, glancing at the others, then looks comfortable enough to just talk. "Just Claude, please. I keep asking her to not add the lord part."
  138.
  139.
  140. Killian De'bayle: "Well, regardless, we should get going. I'll see if I can find Nogelle if no one will share a chocobo...would rather avoid riding a chocobo, anyway..."
  141. Lionnet Blodoint: "Have any of you a contact or acquiantance in Gyr Abania you could ask for advice?"
  142. Zike Lancean: "That's the idea. I'm thinking find a local that can lead us to the habitat of some water snakes. So Ala Gannha is our best bet it seems. Prepare for a swim. It might be neccesary."
  143. Quincy Pallene: "Ah, she did that to me, as well."
  144. Jancis Milburga squeezes her hands together. "Pray be safe. Keeper be with you all."
  145. Ulysses Derosiers: "Mmm. I hope my youth spent catching reptiles will come in handy, shall we be off then?"
  146. Quincy Pallene: "Come back whole, father. Travel safely, everyone."
  147. Zike Lancean: "Baron De'Bayle. I know you don't enjoy the thought, but the back seat of my draught bird is empty if you require."
  148. Lionnet Blodoint: "I would hope we all come back whole, yes. We shall return with an antidote soon, then."
  149. >> Quincy Pallene: I hadn't planned on splitting the party. I'm really sorry I didn't take that into consideration.
  150. Killian De'bayle: "Ahh...aye...very well, Ser Lancean. Thank ye." Killian tries a genuine smile, though his distaste for chocobos is evident enough.
  151. Quincy Pallene >> ((I really don't mind, I can work on my book. XD))
  152. >> Quincy Pallene: Another time! Or some mini scene here! I really appreciate it.
  153. Zike Lancean: "I will endeavour to make it as smooth a ride as possible, as always. But with that, are we ready to mount up?"
  154. Killian De'bayle: "Aye. Let's be on our way."
  155. (Jancis Milburga) Okay! Onward! To... Ala Gannha!
  156. (Jacline Kerelle) Woosh!
  157. (Jancis Milburga) Also IOU Quincy another scene we can cure Claude or something in the near future.
  158. (Jancis Milburga) If this is successful!!
  159. (Jancis Milburga) Or we can bury Claude together it'll be fun either way.
  160. (Quincy Pallene) oh my gosh.
  161. (Lionnet Blodoint) D:
  162. (Quincy Pallene) Quincy is going to sit here and politely read a book and let the poor boy rest. XD
  163. (Killian De'bayle) Please sweep the floor after Jacline undoubtedly got crumbs everywhere. >:
  164. Jacline Kerelle had changed into something a bit less sweltering before traveling to the desert. But she kept the hat.
  165. (Jancis Milburga) Sure he's had enough books from Jancis reading to him.
  166. Killian De'bayle: "Are we here?" Killian asks in a strained tone.
  167. Jancis Milburga ||The desert-y canyons are cry and airy. This town more cleaned up than during the war, but still sparse. A few locals are about and more buildings are tidied up, with some stalls for the few travelers that come this way instead of heading the higher way on to the Lochs.
  168. Zike Lancean: "Indeed, Baron. We've arrived. Though now we have the daunting task of finding someone who knows about the local wildlife."
  169. Lionnet Blodoint frowns. Severely. At everything.
  170. Cinnabar Prentice: ||: A chocobo on a chocobo. It was an odd arrangement, but one that might have been necessary, assuming flight was a necessity! Along with the duo of Jacline and Cinnabar, a fledgling chocobo of vibrant, red plumage accompanied, standing no higher than some three fulm or so tall!
  171. Killian De'bayle: "Can I get off now?"
  172. Jancis Milburga ||Locals aren't really walking around. Most are sticking to the shade for the noon time rest and to avoid the worse of the sun.
  173. Zike Lancean: "Let me assist you off the saddle before you try to jump, my lord."
  174. Killian De'bayle: "If ye insist."
  175. (Quincy Pallene) Don't worry, Ian, obsessively cleaning is one of Quincy's strong suits
  176. Zike Lancean hopped off his chocobo with relative ease, lifting up a hand and half helping, half hauling Killian out of the saddle and gracelessly down to the ground.
  177.
  178. (Quincy Pallene) Quincy isn't SHARING the books. He's just casually reading like three. By himself.
  179. Wosi Dan waves.
  180. Ulysses Derosiers swings his own hips about, dismounting with a huff. Almost instantly, his chocobo goes to make a bee-line for some scraggly-looking greens just as Ulysses grabs his reins. "Behave," He chides.
  181. Killian De'bayle grunts as he's hauled off the large bird, but seems far happier to have his feet on the ground and automatically takes a few steps away from Zike's chocobo. "Ahh...thank ye, Ser Lancean," he says as he pulls his cane from its harness at his back.
  182. (Jancis Milburga) o_o super read
  183. (Killian De'bayle) As long as Quincy knows not to move his stuff around, or to put everything back exactly where he got it, and makes notes of any supplies he used to clean, Killian won't care how much cleaning is done, lol
  184. Zike Lancean: "Of course, baron. Anytime. Now perhaps we should ask one of these merchants about the area."
  185. Ulysses Derosiers: "Shall we spread out?"
  186. Wosi Dan: So exciting to see an adventuring party here!
  187. Cinnabar Prentice: "Alright, Jac... Lemme just, help you get Graf off, then--" And without a syllable more, the chocobo climbs from Jacline's lap and hops off, stretching his legs and wings with a pleasant ``Kweeh~`` in the warm desert climes. "... Ah, well..."
  188. Lionnet Blodoint: "I feel that would be wise- but not individually. In groups of two, perhaps?"
  189. Jacline Kerelle gently pats the black chocobo chick.
  190. Zike Lancean: "Aye, groups of two sounds like a wise idea."
  191. Killian De'bayle: "An adventuring party? Aye...I suppose we are, at that. I'll have to be in a group of two, regardless," Killian says in response to Lionnet. "I've no idea where we are, except that it's wide and open."
  192. Jancis Milburga ||Locals do notice a dressed group in armor and definitely foriegn clothing. Nothing this town hasn't seen in the recent past, though.
  193. Jacline Kerelle: "If you get lost, just look for the landmarks!"
  194. Lionnet Blodoint: "Also, I do hope you've all brought water with you someplace- it is awfully dry here and we would not like to bring back another one ill."
  195. Wosi Dan bids farewell.
  196. Ulysses Derosiers: "I brought a waterskin with me. And plus, if we'll be near the water... that's plenty to drink as well."
  197. Cinnabar Prentice: "Aye... Much the same, for it."
  198. Jacline Kerelle: "I hear its got snakes in it."
  199. Ulysses Derosiers: "Knight-Captain, care to split us up?"
  200. >> Jacline Kerelle: From a reliable source!))
  201. Jacline Kerelle >> XD
  202. (Quincy Pallene) In braille, of course.
  203. Lionnet Blodoint: "It also may have more than just snakes- this was formerly Imperial territory. Who knows what chemicals have been dumped in these waters."
  204. (Cinnabar Prentice) Bump. Bump. Two bumps. Bump. Four bumps in a square.
  205. Lionnet Blodoint also doesn't trust Ala Mhigans to keep their water clean, but he doesn't say that.
  206. Zike Lancean reaches back into the saddlebag on his chocobo, pulling out a pack with a waterskin and a few other supplies. "Right. We should probably have the two doctors in seperate parties. Baron, if you'd care to accompany me. And Lionnet, you'll be with Ulysses. Ser Prentice and Jacline seem well fit as a team as well."
  207. (Killian De'bayle) There should be a bunch of books on one of the shelves on his desk, those are his logistical records for his stock! And they are written in braille, although IIRC Jancis made a copy in ink?
  208. Killian De'bayle: "Aye, I will follow ye, Ser Lancean."
  209. (Jancis Milburga) Yes yes! That was the plan at least to have the two coincide.
  210. Ulysses Derosiers: "Yes, Captain." Ulysses cuts his gaze to Lionnet, "Shall we, then?"
  211. Lionnet Blodoint turns to Ulysses, bowing stiffly and formally. "I do not believe we have been properly introduced, Ser Ulysses- well met."
  212. (Jancis Milburga) Random roll, please
  213.
  214. Ulysses Derosiers produces an elaborate bow, "Ulysses de Rosier. Though, I am only a squire as of yet. No 'ser' is required."
  215. Lionnet Blodoint raised his eyebrows at that. "You certainly look the part. Fooled me."
  216. Jancis Milburga ||A little girl comes up to and offers Cinnabar to sell a group of desert flowers, looking up with big shining eyes.
  217. Zike Lancean reached to set a tentative palm on Killian's shoulder. Completely clueless as to how much guidance the baron needed, he gave a subtle tug off in the direction of one of the merchant tents.
  218. Ulysses Derosiers: "One dresses for the position they seek, I suppose."
  219. Killian De'bayle twitches away automatically from the unexpected contact with a quickly-murmured, "Ah--it--that's--I can hear yer steps, Ser Lancean, and me cane will feel any pitfalls or ridges in front of me."
  220. Jancis Milburga: ||"Hello. I. Um. Would you like to buy some flowers please miss?"
  221. Zike Lancean: "Ah, very well then. My apologies, Baron. Let's get moving then. There's a stall selling supplies at your ten o'clock."
  222. (Jancis Milburga) Pwease, even.
  223. (Ulysses Derosiers) OWO
  224. Killian De'bayle: "My...what?" Killian follows Zike, regardless.
  225. Lionnet Blodoint: "Indeed." He turns and surveys the area. "Now, where shall we begin? I wonder if there is any medical practitioner within this town- I am sure that when it comes to local poisons and how to cure them, they would be the one to ask."
  226. Jacline Kerelle || Kwehgraf ambles over to the little girl, eyeing the flowers with one big eye. He gingerly extends his neck, beak cracking open to nip a the flowers.
  227. Cinnabar Prentice: "Ah..." Cinnabar blinks down, looking at the girl. She smiles, lips pursed in thought. "Hello~ I... Don't believe, we're in much a way for flowers just yet, but..."
  228. Ulysses Derosiers: "I wonder if this waif would have any idea as to the whereabouts of the settlement's doctor."
  229. Jancis Milburga ||The little girl looks interested and then gets shy and pulls away from the fluffy chocobo. "My flower!"
  230. Killian De'bayle: "A clock has hands?"
  231. Jacline Kerelle || Kwehgraf shuffles a little closer, non-threateningly. `Kwee...?`
  232. (Jancis Milburga) We'll have to use party as I am too far away.))
  233. Cinnabar Prentice: "K-Kwehgraf! Don't..." The roegadyn reaches out to barrier her gaunted hand between the flower and the bird's beak. "S-sorry... Sorry! He, he... really does enjoy flowers, you see... Ah... H-here... I'll gladly buy your flowers. Aye? Will, that do?"
  234. Jancis Milburga ||The little girl hides behind Cinnabar and then looks more comfortable, curious but also shy of the red feathered friend. She agrees. "'kay!" She holds out the flowers!
  235. (Jancis Milburga) Or maybe I'm not too far away))
  236. (Lionnet Blodoint) I suppose we'll just stay here but rp as moving outward and searching, to keep in range))
  237. Killian De'bayle struggles to imagine this as he follows behind Zike. "Clocks have faces?" he asks at length.
  238. Ulysses Derosiers: "Hrm. Regardless. Perhaps we can nose about over yonder?" Ulysses begins wandering out towards the mountain-carved stalls at his fore!
  239. Jacline Kerelle || Kwehgraf nib-nibbles the offered flower, then chomp-chomps, eating them out of the girl's hands with glee!
  240. (Ulysses Derosiers) That might be best! ))
  241. (Jancis Milburga) That works!))
  242. Jacline Kerelle smiles at the black chocobo chick.
  243. Lionnet Blodoint follows along, surveying the area. He's looking for anyone who seems... intelligent.
  244. Zike Lancean: "The face of the clock is just the circular disk that one sees to read it. So there's twelve at the north most position, three at the eastward position, six at the southward position, and nine at the westward position."
  245. Cinnabar Prentice sighs with relief. "His, name is Kwehgraf... He's, naught more than a few moons of age. He's harmless, truly..." she reassures as she lifts her surcoat, fishing for her coin pouch... and some coin! She'd go on to divine the price, and offer the proepr coin- and a bit extra.
  246. (Cinnabar Prentice) It's funny because Kwehgraf's INT score is 2.
  247. (Ulysses Derosiers) Ulysses too.
  248.
  249. Jancis Milburga ||Eyes half-closed, the girl lets go near the end and pulls her hands back really far! "Kweegaf" She takes the coin with a lot of gusto, amazed by the amount and turns around to run off with the coin, turning to say "Thank you miss!" halfway.
  250. (Jancis Milburga) Oi!!!
  251. Killian De'bayle: "Hm...I never knew time was kept that way. It sounds strange."
  252. Cinnabar Prentice: "And, thank you~... Ah! Before you leave, little miss? Uhm..."
  253. Zike Lancean: "I can tell you more about it at length when we get back home. But for now, let's see if this man can tell us anything."
  254. Cinnabar Prentice looks baco thward the others. "Does, anyone have any questions? She, may know where to point us, in our search...?"
  255. Jancis Milburga ||The girl stays put, hiding the coins behind her back.
  256. Cinnabar Prentice: (Baco thward... Back toward)
  257. (Ulysses Derosiers) We're all just standing here for the sake of emoting, everybody else is gone.
  258. Killian De'bayle: "Aye, alright. A merchant here?" Killian wonders.
  259. Jacline Kerelle: "Who's the medicine man, 'round here?" Jacline asks the girl. "Who you go to when you get sick?"
  260. (Cinnabar Prentice) LOL. So it's just Cinna and Jac with the girl?)
  261. (Jancis Milburga) She's about there.
  262. (Zike Lancean) Zike Approaches a vendor who seems to be selling desert supplies. "Excuse me sir, perhaps you can help us out. We're looking for a specific type of wildlife. Might you be able to help us with that? I will of course compensate you for any help."
  263. (Ulysses Derosiers) Ulysses leans over the counter on yonder, providing the clerk with a swarthy grin. "Where are all the snakes around here?" He inquires.
  264. (Jancis Milburga) ||Zike approaches a savvy lady with a big smile and a big tan on her already dark skin. "Well welcome h're, Sunshine. You've come to th' right place. Got lotion for th't delicate skin of yours and your friend, too. Compensate ya say? I know quite 'bit 'bout th' area."
  265. (Killian De'bayle) "What about the local fauna?"
  266. (Jancis Milburga) ||The little girl looks way up at Jacline's question, and points over to the top of the hill. "My mommy. But sometimes a man comes in. He lives out past the mountains we're not allowed to go that far. He says there's monsters."
  267. Cinnabar Prentice: ||: Cinna, in the interim occupies the young 'bo, sniffing and admiring the flowers before taking one that was nibbled, and playing a little game of keep-away. The reward for winning: a chomp at the blossom... Naturally, he wins after a couple misses. Mnchmnchmnch... :||
  268. (Lionnet Blodoint) Lio had been sort of idly following Ulysses- but at that, he frowns, moves away, and finds his own vendor to talk to. He performs his usual bow, perfect posture, way too stiff and formal. "Excuse me. I am looking for the local apothecary. Would you be able to point me in that direction, perchance?"
  269. (Zike Lancean) Zike blushes bright red at that, thankful that the only person with him was blind. Swallowing his embarassment, he nodded. "Indeed, yes. We're hunting a specific kind of water snake. Though any information about the local snakes could be helpful."
  270. Jacline Kerelle: "Thanks, missy!" Jacline says with a tip of her spriggan hat. "Ready for a climb, then, Cinna?"
  271. (Jancis Milburga) ||Ulysses sees a clerk who is old and proud. Giving the elezen a regarding look for that grin, "What? Look if you're lookin' to sell snake oil 'round here, might as well move along."
  272. (Ulysses Derosiers) Ulysses brushes away the old man's concerns, "No, no. I'm looking for a real snake. A water-snake to be precise." He assures with a sort of 'calm-down' gesture.
  273. (Jancis Milburga) ||Killian gets a good look from the savvy merchant lady, "Fauna? Shoot Firecracker look at you and th'se big words. We're simple folk h're. I'm local fauna, shoot!" She belts out a laugh.
  274. Jancis Milburga The little girl runs off with her new fortune.
  275. Cinnabar Prentice dips her head toward Jacline, tucking the bundle of flowers into a loop on her rucksack for safe keeping. "Mh! I am..." She looks to the girl again, giving her a gracious bow with hands folded. "Thank you again, little miss..." The rosy'bo gives a little ``Kweeeh~`` in her regard as well.
  276.
  277. (Killian De'bayle) "Um." Killian looks a little confused by the odd string of words coming from the lady. It takes a moment for him to puzzle out their meaning. "Animals. Water snakes, as Ser Lancean says."
  278. Cinnabar Prentice: "Ah-- Have, you a name, little miss? And, your mother? That we may know better, whom we address?"
  279. (Jancis Milburga) ||Lionnet finds a young mother, getting some wash out to dry. "Apothecary? Some medics come through. Shamans and stuff? Are you sick? Please stay away if you are. I don't have anything."
  280. (Jancis Milburga) ||Ulysses' man scoffs and looks skeptical, "There ain't no snakes around these parts in the water. Look in bushes or in the sandy parts of the dirt. Kind of question you askin', boy?"
  281. (Ulysses Derosiers) Ulysses pauses at that, stroking his bearded chin. "It's for medicine." The Dravanian answers honestly, his attitude sobering mildly. "If one were looking to find water-snakes, where would the closest region be that one might look?"
  282. (Lionnet Blodoint) "No, no- I am not ill. Do not worry. I am simply looking to study the medical practices of this area and inquire about local cures and the like."
  283. (Jancis Milburga) ||Zike and Killian's answer is another long charismatic, "Water snake?! Shoot! Ain't nothing around h're like one of those. Unless th'ir shedding th'ir skin. I've got some of th'se skins in stock! Good quality."
  284. (Killian De'bayle) "Ah...actually...we're hoping to extract venom from them...to make an antidote for someone who's very ill. They come here to shed their skins? Where do they come from?"
  285. (Jancis Milburga) Ulysses' old man grumbles, not even bothering to crane his head to look up anymore. "Medicine. Snake oils I still say! Some kind o' love potion? Boy, you barkin' up the wrong tree. If it's in the water, then look there. I'm busy." He's not busy.
  286. (Jancis Milburga) ||Lionnet's lady eases and thinks a minute. "Well, there's, um, there is a new guy nearby. Been using the stream down south. I don't know why, though. It's downstream from the falls."
  287. (Lionnet Blodoint) Lio nods, pointing in the direction she indicated to confirm. "That way?"
  288. (Ulysses Derosiers) Ulysses is a hard man to dislodge typically, but he doesn't want to raise a huff. He disengages from the ruffled old man and returns to the plaza around the aetheryte. "No luck." He proclaims.
  289. (Jancis Milburga) ||Zike & Killian's lady nods and comments, "Oh th'ts terrible. Poor th'ng." "Mhm" "Right" "Well th'se snakes are from the rocks and dirts. Just use the water t' shed. Why don't ya tell me what th's is all about, Sunshine."
  290. (Jancis Milburga) Lionnet's lady nods, "Past the Wash. I don't go down there. Gets more dangerous that way."
  291. (Zike Lancean) "Perhaps knowing the reason would help. We're trying to find an antidote for a certain poison. Our friend was poisoned in this area, and we think the cause is from a wtaer snake in this region. But as you can see, we don't know the place well enough."
  292. Jancis Milburga ||The girl backtracks and says it, "I'm Lily! Mom's name is Mom."
  293. Cinnabar Prentice: "Heh... Heheh~... Thank you, Miss Lily~..."
  294. Jacline Kerelle || Plot twist - her name really is Mom!
  295. (Jancis Milburga) ||Or it is... Your Mother!!
  296. (Killian De'bayle) "Aye - or at least, that the poison came from water snakes. If ye could send us in the right direction towards the area they tend to live - or do they nest in rocks and dirt in general around here?"
  297. (Jacline Kerelle) Yeur Muthur. It's Turkish
  298. Cinnabar Prentice: "Lily and Mom... Lily and Mom... Well, we've a lead, for our own. Mmhm~..."
  299. (Cinnabar Prentice) ((MIND YOUR BRACKETS!))
  300. (Jacline Kerelle) (( I DO WHAT I WANT
  301. Jacline Kerelle: "Lily's mom. Simple enough."
  302. (Jancis Milburga) ||Zike's merchant looks more serious. "Poisoned. Ain't th' first we've heard of th't. Had another group come thr'gh and lose someone. I've never seen a water snake, but th' group th't also got poisoned headed down th' river. Most people don't head th't way. Other poisonous stuff t' look out for."
  303. (Cinnabar Prentice) >> Cinnabar's voice cracks in over the linkshell. "Ah, Cinnabar here... We've, found a person who may be of import. The flower girl, Lily; her mother's a woman of medicine. She'd be worth seeking, I'd wager." <<
  304. Jacline Kerelle treks up the hill, asking random passersby about "Lily's mum the apofercary or healer or somesuch like that."
  305.
  306. (Killian De'bayle) Killian frowns. "I'm sorry to hear that. I'll speak with our healers when we've found what we need, to have antidotes sent here in case any of your folk have need, or you meet any others who do."
  307. (Zike Lancean) "Ah, well that does give us a jumping off point for looking. Thank you very much. Let's see here... a few silver pieces for your time and knowledge." Zike pulls out a small coinpurse from his satchel, handing it over to the merchant woman.
  308. >> Jacline Kerelle: It's pretty easy to find someone who knows Lily and her mother. The man assures that she's not medicine woman. Get the impression that Lily takes all her booboos to her mom.
  309. (Jancis Milburga) ||Killian and Zike's merchant nods, "I'd appreciate it, Firecracker. Travellers gotta be careful. Why th'nk you, Sunshine!" She beams brightly at Zike, "You come back sometime. Try out my lotions. See th't ray of sunshine coming back real soon."
  310. (Jacline Kerelle) Jacline finds her way back to Cinnabar with new information! "Forget it, dead end. They sayin' Lily's mum ain't no healer. Think maybe that's just who Lily goes to when she's sick. Heh." Headshake.
  311. Zike Lancean: "Alright Baron, let's get a hold of the others and inform them of what we've found. Maybe with everyone's information combined we can have a narrowed window to search."
  312. (Jancis Milburga) ||"Bye, Sunshine"
  313. (Killian De'bayle) Killian smiles sort of vaguely toward the woman, and lifts a hand up to his linkpearl to respond to Cinnabar. <"We have some information, as well."> To Zike, he grunts his agreement. "Aye. Let's go."
  314. (Cinnabar Prentice) Cinnabar listens for a time... ere shrugs and looks back to Jacline. "Well, should--" She holds, and closes her mouth. "... Oh... Uhm... But... She's, not in charge of an, apothecary, or...?"
  315. (Jancis Milburga) ||"You too, Firecracker. ... fauna.. shoot."
  316. (Lionnet Blodoint) sorry, got caught up in something))
  317. (Jacline Kerelle) Jacline can only shrug! "Makes sense for a little kid, I guess."
  318. Cinnabar Prentice gives a weak smile. "Well... I thought, mayhap, since she had flowers... There, may've been something to it. Flora, and the like..."
  319. Killian De'bayle: "She's not a medicine woman?"
  320. Jacline Kerelle: "We can find her and ask anyway, if you want. Guy I talked to said she ain't no medicine woman or nothin', though."
  321. Cinnabar Prentice: "Ah, hello again Ian~ Mayhap not, for what Jacline found. The, girl said that was whom she, went to, for healing... So..."
  322. Killian De'bayle smiles a little at this. "That's alright. Ser Lancean and I found information that might be helpful."
  323. Zike Lancean: "Indeed we did. Apparently there was another group that passed through with a similar affliction."
  324. Killian De'bayle: "Aye, and they went downriver, possibly to see if they could come up with their own antivenom. The snakes only come to water to shed their skins - elsewise, they live under rocks and dirt. I might be able to sense them if we get close enough."
  325. Killian De'bayle: "She said there's other poisonous things in that direction, though."
  326. Jacline Kerelle edges away from the nearest rock with a suspicious stare.
  327. (Jancis Milburga) Jacline roll please
  328. Zike Lancean: "Which means it's good I brought my armor. Never seen a snake that can bite through steel."
  329. Cinnabar Prentice: "Wwwwell, we've no shortage for rocks..."
  330. Jancis Milburga ||That rock is definitely a rock.
  331. Ulysses Derosiers: "I'm sure we'll be fine, as long as nobody eats anything suspect."
  332. Killian De'bayle: "I'd suggest going downriver, if that's where the other group thought they'd find them. If we find any - I have experience with milking snakes of their venom, and the supplies to do as much."
  333. >> Jacline Kerelle: There's too much foot traffic and the ground is so solid here, it seems pretty safe to not habor more than a stink bug. But gross nontheless!
  334. Jacline Kerelle >> Gross!
  335. Jacline Kerelle: "Well, that's handy. I didn't even know snakes had nipples."
  336. Zike Lancean: "Oh yeah you can milk anything if you have the right touch."
  337. Killian De'bayle: "It's not--it comes from their mouths. Venom glands."
  338. Jacline Kerelle: "Oh. Y-yeah, that makes more sense. I knew that."
  339.
  340. Cinnabar Prentice opens her mouth and doubletakes to Jacline. Even Kwehgraf manages to cock his head and aim a curious eye at her, after aiming one at Killian. Seems he's just mimicing, to those mroe insightful. "Aye... From, the fangs..."
  341. Jacline Kerelle shrugs at Cinnabar Prentice.
  342. Zike Lancean: "Well at any rate, we should get moving. Time is not a luxury we have."
  343. Killian De'bayle: "Aye. Let's go."
  344. Cinnabar Prentice: "Mh! Aye."
  345. Jacline Kerelle: "C'mon, Graf! Watch out for snakes!"
  346. (Lionnet Blodoint) back!))
  347. (Lionnet Blodoint) ack))
  348. Cinnabar Prentice: (Just in time!)
  349. (Jancis Milburga) Right on time))
  350. Ulysses Derosiers is glad he's wearing his thigh-highs!
  351. Killian De'bayle: "I can hear it," Killian says with an amused smile. His cane goes in first to test its depth before he steps in.
  352. Lionnet Blodoint: "I heard tell there was some sort of medicine man who could be seen down here, as well. Keep a close eye out."
  353. (Jancis Milburga) ||The river is surprisingly cold! The water coming down from the mountains in the wintertime.
  354. Zike Lancean: "There's a few rocks here, any feeling of them Baron?"
  355. Jacline Kerelle picks Kwehgraf up out of the water. He's gonna get washed away!
  356. (Ulysses Derosiers) brb again ))
  357. Cinnabar Prentice: ||: The resident Dalmascan seems to be having entirely too much fun- or just about the right amount- flapping his wings and skipping through the water. Splish splash splash! ``Kwrrr~!`` At least, until Jacline picks him up. He flails and whines in protest!
  358. Jacline Kerelle puts him back!
  359. Jacline Kerelle: "Alright, alright! But don't come whinin' to me if you get waterlogged!"
  360. Killian De'bayle comes to a stop with a tilt of his head, brows furrowed as he focuses. "Mmh...no...no snakes, I don't think. Other things, though."
  361. Jacline Kerelle gently pats the black chocobo chick.
  362. Cinnabar Prentice: ``Wrrrr~`` And resumes bouncing about in the shallow flow!
  363. Jacline Kerelle: "He'll be alright."
  364. Jacline Kerelle winks at Cinnabar Prentice.
  365. Lionnet Blodoint: "Other things?"
  366. Zike Lancean: "Then I suppose the only thing to do is head further south. Unless anyone has a better idea."
  367. Lionnet Blodoint: "Do keep a close eye on that chocobo, then, please."
  368. Killian De'bayle spends another moment focusing, then turns to his nine and gestures out vaguely toward the shore, where a large beetle can be seen. "Aye."
  369. Cinnabar Prentice nods to Lionnet Blodoint.
  370. (Jancis Milburga) Random please
  371. (Jancis Milburga) Roll, I mean. ///
  372. (Ulysses Derosiers) Bak again! ))
  373. (Jancis Milburga) Everyone please
  374. Cinnabar Prentice: "Graf- come come..." The chocobo, heeding the command, comes close between the roe and elezen, but still nips at the surface.
  375. >> Jacline Kerelle: There's jack and squat here. South is the best bet.
  376. (Lionnet Blodoint) this music keeps making me think my phone is vibrating
  377. >> Zike Lancean: That's a solid suggestion.
  378. Jacline Kerelle looks around.
  379. Jacline Kerelle: "Ain't nothin' out here but Jack and Shit. And Jack left town. Bit further south, maybe?"
  380.
  381. >> Ulysses Derosiers: Your knowledge of wildlands it's very doubtful anything would be out here in the sun and shallows, especially now. South near those mountains looks like a far better place for anything to stay safe and not lose their hard earned toxins.
  382. Zike Lancean: "Right then, let's keep up the pace southward!"
  383. Ulysses Derosiers: "Nothing is going to be baking out here in the sun. We'd best check further southward."
  384. Cinnabar Prentice shrugs.
  385. (Jancis Milburga) This is probably the best point for us to take a nice 15 minute break.
  386. (Jancis Milburga) And also to let Killian prep for Raid!
  387. (Jacline Kerelle) (( I might have to bail out, I'm turning into a bicycle. Two-tired
  388. (Lionnet Blodoint) i wasn't afk that time...! i just had my camera angled awkwardly and didn't realize everyone went southwards lol))
  389.
  390. (Jancis Milburga) Well if Jacline and Killian want to go look for the other medicine man that lives in the mountains that isn't Lily's mom?
  391. (Jacline Kerelle) Either that, or Cinnabar can steer Jacline!
  392. (Killian De'bayle) Does Lio know how to milk snake venom?
  393. (Cinnabar Prentice) (I'll need to zoot off at about 30 after, if I wanna get some decent sleep. So Cinna could join them, if that's the case?)
  394. (Jancis Milburga) There's someone like a shaman who doesn't live in town but lives outside of it in the eastern mountains. That works!))
  395. (Jancis Milburga) The shaman knows the answer they seek, but he doesn't have the toxin they need.))
  396. (Lionnet Blodoint) Lio knows how, probably- but only because he's researched how, not because he's actually done it lol))
  397. (Killian De'bayle) Hmmm.
  398. (Lionnet Blodoint) He saw it in a book once! It's fine!))
  399. (Ulysses Derosiers) Ulysses knows how to handle snakes. ))
  400. (Jacline Kerelle) (( eyebrow waggle
  401. (Jancis Milburga) We can pause here away from spawns and continue in about 15 minutes if that works for eveyrone else.
  402. (Jacline Kerelle) (( I'm imagining Jacline somehow got assigned to milking a snake for venom, and she's just holding it up with one hand and trying to milk it like a long cow teat with the other into a bucket
  403. (Cinnabar Prentice) (PAUSE!.... Jancis time~♪)
  404. (Killian De'bayle) Could it be captured for milking later by someone who's done it before? I feel like Killian would be leery of allowing Lio to try to milk a deadly snake for the first time in a situation that isn't very ideal for safe milking.)
