› HOW/WHY DID YOU BECOME A TRAINEE -

although lately there has been more exposure to asian americans in the media in the states, michael was craving the taste of stardom. and that wouldn't happen quick enough in california. his family which consisted of his parents and older brother, already knew that michael was overflowing with talent but wasn't sure about taking the big risk of sending him to korea. by doing so, he would have to restart everything that he had accomplished in a whole new environment. with micahel being a second generation asian american, his parents didn't try to teach him korean, even though his grandparents strongly encouraged it. after weeks of michael begging and trying to convince his parents to let him fly to korea, they finally came to a compromise. he would be able to go to korea if he could prove to his parents that he could live independently without any problems. living independently comes with many traits. responsibility, discipline, and self-sufficiency. after the deal was made, nothing could stop michael. he did chores before they were even assigned, was determined to get good grades on his a.p us history final, he got a c, but his parents could tell that he tried his best, and even took it upon himself to learn korean. michael might not have been the smartest, but his drive for becoming a trainee allowed him to absorb all of the information in his "korean 101" textbook like a sponge. and finally, at the age of fifteen, his parents allowed him to fly over to korea. he had some distant cousins that lived in seoul, and the arrangements were made. in seoul, he continued school and spent his first year there street busking, coincidentally in front of dsp media, which housed big artists such as kara and rainbow. with his extraordinary talents, people walking by always thought that michael was a trainee from dsp and wondered why he hasn't debuted yet. michael took advantage of this and started advertising his performances and gathered large crowds to watch him busk to his heart's content. the constant ruckus outside of the company caused the choi mikyung, the ceo himself came out to see what was disturbing his peace and quiet. sure, min kyung got a taste of all of the michael buzz from the internet, but didn't think much of it and left it alone. but when he stepped out of his company's double doors, he was welcomed by a crowd of at least five hundred people watching michael play. if he signed michael, the exposure to the korean media that michael already had would help boost his popularity once he debuts and signed michael later that day.

› PERSONALITY - ever since he was young, michael was always out and about. he always had to be doing something. sitting still? that was foreign to him. if there was one thing he valued the most, that would be his freedom. unless you were his parents or the police, good luck trying to tell him what to do. at first, his parents worried a lot for him as he was never around at home and thought that he was causing trouble, but as months went by with him never being around, they came to a realization that michael was just escaping confinement, which was the home, and wasn't a trouble maker. the boy spent most of his time in california at the santa monica beach, which was like his backyard, surfing with his bros. in addition to his out and about ways, michael is also a very big foodie.
