  1. Question 8 responses (Within reason suggest future game mode gimmicks below. They can be variations of the above, or current modes, or past modes, or completely original. Keep in mind that ridiculous ideas won't happen (modes which massively inflate the economy, modes that require hacking the game mid-match, modes which would require a huge amount of programming). Keep in mind what makes some game modes fun and others boring. Your suggestion will carry more weight if you can explain why it is good.)
  2. :::
  3. Metronome: Pokemon has one random move (or all moves) replaced with Metronome.
  4.
  5. The RNGod is attractive, as it reminded me of the Hackmons Cup format on Pokemon Showdown. Maybe not Defiance as it would actually be fun to play. A Blindfold match type would be fun- PBR is completely covered but you can use sound effects/PRChase. Basically Jedi but w/o the speed. Maybe a variation of Synchronize where each team has 50% of the total influence. If it ever becomes possible in the future, most ability-changing modes like Pinpoint, Lucky, Armor, etc. should be done through game hacks rather than abilities (i.e. hack the game so the crit rate is always 0 rather than replace abilities and potentially ruin sets).
  6.
  7. 1) Everyone inputs: Once you bet a random input is selected for you so that every bettor has an input. This input can then be changed as per normal but inputs cannot be cleared. This will encourage bettors to learn to play, be mindful of throwing or lead and allow for a more chaotic &/or co-operative game (similar to runs). 2) Similar to "Sticky Situation" but with a random damaging item Toxic Orb, Flame Orb, Black Sludge, Life Orb etc. (some obviously benefit from poison heal, facade etc.)
  8.
  9. Reverse! The lower bet, the higher the influence. However, the more you bet, the higher the payout. From 10% for the lowest bet to 500% for the highest bet.
  10.
  11. -- Veteran of Helix -- Two Pokémon from previous runs are randomly selected to be on a team. They are hidden, however, to keep excitement among the viewers and who they'll see again. There are exceptions to this though, I'll show you a notable one. (EX:Flareon from Run #1. It's famous, sure, but not for it's moveset of only Sand Attack and Tackle.)
  12.
  13. Deja Vu : this game mode should be used more rarely than the others Badge Battle : there are lots of problems that need to be resolved for this one (e.g. How the badge betting takes place, what happens if a user without a badge tries to bet, etc.) Proving Grounds : make sure that both teams have a really balanced set (if a team has an obviously better set than the other, everyone would bet on the obviously winning team, and economy inflation will happen) TriHard : I like the mechanics, but not for the name of this mode (I prefer the name Stunned mode) All In : same concern as Proving Grounds
  14.
  15. Metronome mode: Like the token metronome sets, or potentially random. But with a trade off on that metronome token sets are removed to allow for better diversity on token matches, and would likely increase the amount of metronome matches that could occur without bothering anyone about metronome being selected for the hourly token match. All in all, this could please both sides that would like to see more metronome matches, and those who would like to see token matches being used for something else.
  16.
  17. Hidden Talents Mode. Pokemon abilities are randomly generated and revealed when the match begins. ---Basically, movesets and stats stay intact. It's still possible to make a decent strategy that has a good chance of holding up during the match. Most abilities might have little or no effect, but some can absolutely change the game. There might have to be some limitations to prevent total cancer, such as making sure there's no Wonder Guard Spiritomb or something like that. Decisive Mode. All items are replaced with Choice items (Specs, Scarf, Band, etc.). ---There are two variants of this: Switching On and Switching Off. Switching On gives the opportunity for switch wars and mindgames, requiring excellent team coordination to properly switch select moves. ---If you decide to go with Switching Off, this mode closely resembles Commitment but allows you to select a new move after each Pokemon faints. Thus, each side gets to choose up to three moves per game, with plenty of time to coordinate inputs. FAKE Mode. One Pokemon will be replaced by a Ditto or Sudowoodo when the match begins. ---Variation 1: Only one team is bamboozled by the switch. ---Variation 2: Both teams have at least one Pokemon that is switched with a Ditto or Sudowoodo: one team gets Ditto, the other gets Sudowoodo. It is not revealed until the match begins who gets which. ---If a Ditto replaces a Pokemon on your team, it forces players to think react quickly. However, with Switching On, it does create some creative tactical opportunities. ---Sudowoodo might seem like a bizarre choice at first. However, we could create two sets: an underwhelming standard set that appears most of the time, and an Overpowered set that has a low chance of appearing.
  18.
  19. 1. All Pokemon have a copy move (Copycat, Me First, Mimic) 2. All Pokemon moves will recoil damage: Adds risk for either stronger or weaker moves to be used. Increases draws as well. 3. All Pokemon have Counter or Mirror Coat: Teams will have to strategize on what type of moves to use. 4. All Pokemon have the move Pursuit. With Switching Mode On but it puts a risk. 5. The match starts with stage hazards (spikes or Stealth Rock).
  20.
  21. all mons have serene grace or inner focus, moves replaced with trick room trick fling and flinching moves all mons have kings rock or iron ball? something like this
  22.
  23. Environmentalism: Each Pokemon gets a move replaced with Secret Power/Nature Power/Camouflage The game can change greatly based on which Colosseum is selected for these moves. It does add a little uncertainty at betting, but I think they could make almost any match more interesting. Slower pokemon might have to always get Nature Power/Camouflage, as Secret Power relies on going first. The possibility of "Right PogChamp" or "Wrong DansGame" may make for a lot of hype as the match begins. Probably best with switching on.
  24.
  25. Unlimited Power - All pokemon have abilities replaced with either Huge Power or Pure Power, and one of their moves is randomly replaced with Superpower. The move superpower, in addition to keeping with the power convention, ensures that all pokemon may at least have access to physical move with high BP to take advantage of their new ability.
  26.
  27. i like double down because it adds more RNG and it can be very strategic if the right combo is picked, i have been suggesting this for a while now and glad to see this in a survery
  28.
  29. Struggle - Everyone is struggling to survive / All Pokemon have no moves / PP
  30.
  31. Sim is the best friend anyone can have, we whnt to play whith him,or her Kappa
  32.
  33. Nostalgia Teams from runs as match. Ex:Vietnamise Crystal team This can be fun old users and new ones can know more about past runs
  34.
  35. Metronome. All Pokemon have all their moves replaced with Metronome. People have been asking for this in chat for a while now.
  36.
  37. Lose to Win - Whichever team loses would get payout based on their side. Switching off. All mons can have status moves replaced with low BP attack moves: Powder Snow, Twister, Bullet Punch, Fury Cutter. (Optimally just these to prevent cancer from immunities with priority in listed order.)
  38.
  39. 1. Metronome matches with random Pokemon. That way we won't have most token matches be Metronome and people won't get bored by seeing the same 6 Pokemon in every Metronome match. 2. A switching sets mode. Pokemon switch moves/items/abilities randomly before the match starts. Basically Traitor but you still have the Pokemon, but totally different set.
  40.
  41. Coordinated Attack - Each bettor can only input once. It can be at any point during the match, but once you have selected an input your only other option is !-. This makes it very important for teammates to work together and may foster more community involvement because it will likely require whispering strats to teammates before match. Betting time maybe lengthened to allow for extended planning time? Mirror Mode - All inputs are flipped to opposite end of the spectrum. I.E., !a would produce an input of d, !c would produce an input of b. Switching always off in this mode. A great test of mental fortitude and strategy.
  42.
  43. 1. Equality: All Pokemon has the same 4 moves. 2. Locked In: All Pokemon has a Choice item 3. Valentine's Day: All Pokemon's abilities are replaced with Cute Charm
  44.
  45. Role Play mode: the abilities, items and moves of each pokemon are randomly given to one of the other five pokemon in the match. This would be fun and would allow any pokemon to use any move in the game, possibly allowing rare animations to happen.
  46.
  47. Duel Mode should add the profile pics of the Top blue/red better to the top corners of each side.
  48.
  49. Monotype - each team has pokemon with a type in common Metronome - Every move is completely random.
  50.
  51. speed up any defiance mode. make fog a mode instead of random stage hazard. for rainbow mode, increasing the chance of getting the rainbow can also be good and encouraging.
  52.
  53. Shuffle - All abilities, items, and moves are shuffled amongst the Pokemon. (How moves would work - only the move in each slot is shuffled among each Pokemon. For instance, if Flamethrower is in the first slot, it can only be shuffled with another move in the first slot.) I think that it is possible because move swap modes like KAPOW and Boing are legal to the game. I suggest this mode because it's crazy but fun. (Whether the shuffling occurs during or after the betting period is up to you.) Boss - One team is changed to only have one Pokemon. But the catch is, that Pokemon is insanely powerful. (Think shiny sets or overpowered sets without the bad items/stats) I thought of this idea because it has a unique aspect ("What if the teams were uneven but one side had a more powerful mon?") Notes here: You can create sets specific to this mode, or reuse some sets. Full Battle: 6-on-6 matchup. Self-explanatory. The current appearance might have to be changed to accommodate this mode. I had another idea, but forgot it already... BibleThump
  54.
  55. Metronome mode, every mon has every move replaced with metronome. This way there's a reason to remove metronome mons and metronome players are happy anyway.
  56.
  57. A mode where we can only see the Pokémon but not the set or moveset would encourage skill and quick thinking.
  58.
  59. Encouragement Mode. The winning team gets +100 yen added to their total prize payout for each person who bet on the opposing team. This sounds like a fairly gentle way to add money and encourage people to bet without being able to inflate any one person's wallet. (Or some variation on this concept, at least.) Similar idea, a mode where you as an individual get +50 yen if your team wins and you input for over 20 total seconds (must have bet 100 or more yen to get prize). Stuff like that.
  60.
  61. Trap Mode: All Pokémon have one move replaced with a Binding move at Random. (Fire Spin, Magma Storm, Bind, Wrap, Sand Tomb, Whirlpool and Clamp) Thought it could be a cool mode every now and then where you could have a binding move to prevent switching and moves like U-turn while dealing damage and some Pokémon that have weak move sets and stats could benefit greatly as most of them have stall sets so Toxic + Clamp could be devastating in comparison. Ecchi Mode: All Pokémon have their moves replaced with Attract, Charm, Covet and Lick and their ability to be Thick Fat Who does not love Anime? huttsLeo
  62.
  63. Serene Grace mode, every ability is replaced with Serene Grace. Cause everyone loves Serena Grace VoHiYo ! Randomizer mode. All moves in the match (the 24 on the screen) are randomized between the 6 Pokemon after betting period is over. A variation of Secrecy, where only the moves are visible and people have to make bets based off movesets and not just the Pokemon using them. Metronome Mode where 1 move is replaced with Metronome, cause everyone seems to love Metronome.
  64.
  65. Inverted type chart (if technically possible)
  66.

  69. _______________________
  70. Question 9 responses (Are there any gimmick ideas you are very against or have concerns about? For example: I don't like socialism (an old game mode) because everyone would throw and no one would bet high.)
  71.
  72. Any gimmick idea that discourages people from betting high (Fragile, Secrecy and Traitor come to mind).
  73.
  74. Modes that replace moves/abilities are beginning to seem like filler/unnecessary (Rainbow, Armor, Natural Disasters to name a few that are boring). More focus should be put on unique ways to change gameplay/strategy.
  75.
  76. I think Lottery multipliers should be kept low, 3x maximum. Anything more would have problematic ramifications for the season's standings. Any game mode in which there is something is hidden (traitor, legendary, random order, secrecy etc.) naturally discourages betting. I believe very few people would bother with Jedi mode and it could be misinterpreted as a technical problem.
  77.
  78. I honestly don't have a problem with a lot of gimmicks.
  79.
  80. I'm against Synchronize (commands from both teams combine to form a single input) because it makes the rich even richer (a rich better can bet really high on one team to influence the whole game)
  81.
  82. Gimmick ideas that artificially modifies the payout percentage would potentially disrupt the player based ecomony, quickly giving the top betters an even more unfair unreachable advantage over others, and the idea that only 100/500 clubbers or new betters can introduce new amounts of money into the economy.
  83.
  84. The Democracy mode will either make the Top Inputters in complete control which will result in predictable matches. On the other hand, it can give throwers who bet big to have complete control enabling alt transfers.
  85.
  86. i dont like gimmicks which could possibly be abused for easy money or manipulated for match fixing. please consider this when making new modes
  87.
  88. a game mode should be something easy to understand. i dont like game modes that involve payout modifiers, tokens or badges.
  89.
  90. It's not that I hate it, but I have a feeling vandalism would be too hard for most people to follow. I doubt it would work Democracy and Dueling seems like it would get old, since most people who want to play won't get to. However, it might be nice to have a few modes where people stop bitching about throwers for a change.
  91.
  92. Bluff seems like a reason for someone to get rich and then begin trolling. I see no good coming from that. We already have that problem. I am also not in favor of any games that cause people to swap teams because that can be messy and lead to sabotage.
  93.
  94. i play PBR for fun so any gamemode is fine with me
  95.
  96. For the sweet love of helix, murder shield dust.
  97.
  98. I hate speed, it is a money vacumm
  99.
  100. I'm concerned about Duel because if the highest bettor doesn't make any movements, they can leave the game as a Defiance match. Also, because it would make it easy for the top bettor to potentially throw.
  101.
  102. I don't like ability modes (all have Shield Dust, Skill Link, etc) because they usually don't add anything interesting to the match and we could be having a fun mode at that time instead.
  103.
  104. Traitor and Secrecy seem to get no bets and if they do they're not very big ones. Same thing for random order
  105.
  106. Badge battle would encourage 1$ bets and very quickly lower the rarity of every gen 1-4 badge, bully would be too one-sided.
  107.
  108. Not really. Maybe I'm concerned about the fact people bet high on Metronome or Defiance mode games, but that's about it.
  109.
  110. I'm only against switching on, because switchfests are the reason i quit smogon. Pokemon battles shouldn't be switchfests, they are not like that in anime or manga either.
  111.
  112. a lot of the suggested modes (like top bettors only inputting) risk becoming throw modes for a way of top bettors to earn tokens and do balance transfers. If a person makes a mistake, chat salt will inevitably ensue and the mode seems to have so many obvious flaws. Also any mode with fixed odds can be abused
  113.
  114. I think Jedi would be more playable if at normal speed vs high speed AND blackout. There's also a concern that it could roll during a commentary block. If these are addressed, my vote changes from "OK" to "Prioritise"
  115.
  116. I don't like gamemodes which can be easily thrown. I like matches where there is a lot of drama and entertainment value. Whatever happens, any new gamemode would help keep things interesting.
  117.
  118. The other money-related ideas in this future idea list seem very slippery slope to me. This was a good survey! - TaviTurnip
  119.
  120. I dont like the idea of Tokens being introduced more into the modes as it might encourage throwing but if that wont be any issue Im all for it.
  121. i want less random order it is cancer
  122.
  123. Modes that are boring, don't change much. I would rather modes like this get replaced by meaningful modes.
