- [18:03] The Triumvir stepped forward, surveying the crowd as it was. A decent amount of non-magi, though the magi attendees seemed a little scarce. Hopefully she could help fix that. In any case, it was time for her address.
- "People of Osrona! Its good ta see ya all, and thank ya for attending this address. I'll not take up all ya time, so first I got some stuff ta say, then I'll take questions if ya inclined."
- Her eyes flickered over the grouping, gauging interest, before she began.
- "Firstly, thank ya all who voted, for me or for either of tha other candidates. The right to have a say in ya lives and how ya city is governed is tha cornerstone of a democracy, even if ya don't agree with me specifically. For those who do, thank ya too. I'mma strive to be the Triumvir ya need. But, I reckon ya here because ya wanna hear what tha future holds. There are a few things, but I'll start with immediate plans..."
- Alright, time for a kind-of-manifesto.
- "I will be seekin' the implementation of as many of my reforms as I can! It is my ultimate goal to, as the sun rises on the last day of my term, have forged Osrona into a true democracy, something unseen in its history! For now, however, I can announce a coupl'a things."
- "It is my intention to form an Osronan Research and Development Collective, and should my reforms go through nominate it as a state sanctioned guild, with the right of citizenship for those of its members who meet the criteria. This guild will focus around improving our fair city, but also serve as a state guild for all Runeworkers, Blacksmiths, Alchemists and even chefs! In this way, far more people can involved themselves in the city, rather than needed ta be pious or punchy. Additionally, any guild that wants their people ta get a say in Osrona, and are willing ta work in Osrona's interest, I'm more than happy ta speak ta ya about state sanction, so long as my reforms get through, so put out the word! More to come on that in the near future, eh?"
- "I've also plans to help expand our trading network. We've been raided by privateers and pirates along the naval trade route for years, I reckon its time we fix that, yeah? Again, more to come on that matter in the near future."
- "Finally, Nysea. The Royalist remnant ain't willin' ta come to the table. Given recent events regarding who is actually accountable for good Yersin's death, I'm open ta givin' 'em one last chance, in light'a the new government, ta come ta the table. But even if they don't, I ain't gonna march without the support a' the people. Soon, if the Royalists refuse further negotiation, the Triumvirate will convene on whether war with Nysea is the way. My vote, however, will be reflective on whether tha people want it! Show ya support either way, right now, and give me an indication of ya thoughts, yeah?"
- She paused a few moments to await any particularly loud responses, then nodded softly.
- "Right, reckon thats it. I'll now take any questions ya got, whether its about what I've just been talkin' bout or something else. Ask away."
- (Malia Arsali)
- "Congratulations lady! Good luck, you can do this!"
- "No more war," sounding grieved. "Do literally anything else--."
- "What are your stances on the Witches, Demons, Occultists and Criminal groups that inhabit, stalk, or lay siege to Osrona from each corner?"
- "My opinion is a simple one.. They're the reason things are as bad as they are, their negligence, and Alexander's unwillingness to accept his fate and punishment for his people, as a true King would. For as long as Nysea and those crumbs remain, they'll always have their sights set here on us, and giving them time only lets them recover further. We can focus on cleaning up the mess he played a heavy part in making during and especially after.. but I think it's time we got rid of the one who knocked over the glass."
- "Finish'em off before more FILTHY KNIGHTS come at our 'ome!"
- "And what if the war happens to reach the city here? The walls aren't even finished being repaired. Focus on improving things internally and economically before you go forward with any war plans, that's what I think you should be trying to do."
- "So no more monarchy but a true democracy. Do you believe there be a problem with corruption through indirect interference such as purchasing votes in the future? And if I may ask, will there be a tax for those who work on the territory of Osrona as merchants occupying in the local stands with no affiliation with any guild whatshoever?"
- (Various comments and questions from the crowd!)
- [18:32] Plenty of opinions, and plenty of questions. Just what she wanted. Jack Kelsey's yell is unexpected but draws a small smirk from the woman.
- "It was a good race, Jack!"
- Even if he was somewhat pro-Royalist in his rhetoric she could still be a graceful victor. The voice of the child was heard, and she offered a soft smile.
- "Child, I might be Rhoynish, but I ain't want war. I've seen the aftermath'a it. But if the Royalists are unwilling ta show they will go the distance for peace, we ain't ever gonna be safe from 'em. I'm buildin' a democracy that'll last centuries, not twenty years only ta see a return ta the cursed Monarchy which so harmed the city in these past decades."
- Her attention shifted next to Hooper, who'd called out the first question.
- "The Witches must be purged from tha world, ever remnant erased. Demons are little better, and given tha harm they'vecaused in past, I reckon they can go the same way. Occultists are trickier. I ain't ever gonna encourage learning occultic magic, but neither do I have plans to push it to be made illegal, given Aschea's faith -which has become part of tha Church'a Three- reckons its important for there ta be balance in all things. Those who've proven themselves unrepentantly dangerous though? They'll face the same fate as all those who would seek to harm Osrona's people; death!"
- Makenna and Misha's words were met with a nod of acknowledgement, though given she'd already stated her thoughts on the war there was little reason to answer them directly. Next came the Rhoynish priest.
- "We've come a long way in tha rebuildin' of Osrona. Rest assured we ain't gonna risk that unless we see no way forward otherwise."
- Nyke had some very good questions, and she hoped her answer would be satisfactory.
- "Corruption is always gonna be a risk, yeah. I ain't gonna lie and say everyone that gets elected is gonna be perfect, or that the voting system itself is. Big difference, though, is that in a Monarchy ya ain't really got the means ta address that, 'specially with the moronic concept of a divine right. We Triumvirs serve at tha will'a the people! My reforms, if passed, will go a long way to preventing tyrants from ruling Osrona."
- "As for a merchantile tax, we've no immediate plans, but I reckon it ain't a bad idea. Perhaps that'll be the first bill tha people vote on, yeah?"
- (Malia Arsali)
- "When war starts... won't you be mad at me, if I... you know, get a safe spot somewhere? I am not good for fighting, you know it..."
- "Other than that.. Things need to be discussed with Walter at some point, organized patrols need to be sent whenever they can be."
- (Various Commentators)
- [18:47] Jack's words draw a snort from her.
- "If ya ain't wanna fight, no-one's gonna force ya. Ya not a member of the Watch, so no hard feelings, yeah?"
- Makenna's words drew response this time.
- "I'll bring that up if ya don't get ta it first. The Demons are getting a bit more bold, from what I hear. Hell, might think about posting a bounty on demon heads, if I can source tha coin."
- That might encourage some bounty hunters to solve their problem for them. Would certainly be better than risking their own people. Still, it seemed few had further questions, so she made to draw things to a close.
- "Ya elected me as a representative of the people, and its my aim to remain such. If ya have questions, concerns, or just wanna say 'Hi', I'll still be around, yeah? Don't feel intimidated."
- She turned to the Stellus.
- "Stellus, ya wanna say a few words before we wrap up?"
- (Malia Arsali)
- [18:55] For the duration of the address, the Stellus had been silent, standing atop the announcement stage. The pair of gold and blue eyes were cast outwards, looking over the faces of the people, occasionally giving a smile and a nod. It is not until he was called to speak by the Elected that he would speak up.
- "First, again, congratulations on become Elected. Aside from that?"
- "I would want to give an assurance. This system will be more difficult to corrupt. This is a democracy, even at the highest level of government, so even if one person were to be corrupt, the rest of the Triumvirate would be able to stop such."
- "Aside from that? I do not believe that the war would reach our walls, if it does happen. The Ultimate choice for it will be a vote made between all members of the triumvirate. If Alexander decides to stand trial, however, the rest of the reparations should be easily fulfilled. I would prefer there be no war, but I do not think there will be that luxury if Nysea refuses to pay reparations."
- "That said? Osrona has already taken out one of the Dopplegangers, the leaders of the Coven. Those that stand against or wish ill upon our nation, and the Coalition are more then likely to fall."
- His hands would once more rest behind his back, giving a smile to the citizens around.
- "That is all I have to say. Back to you, Elected."
- (Romani cos Montclaire)
- "What people are in Triumvirate? Just curious, you know..."
- (???)
- [19:04] Bringing a brief answer to the question asked;
- "The Osronan triumvirate is made up of the Elected, the Stellus, and the Commander. We vote even at the highest level." He explained.
- (Romani cos Montclaire)
- ??? asks, "Can I be apart of the Triumvirate?"
- [19:08] Romani cos Montclaire says, "If you are selected to be the Elected, Stellus, or Commander of the Vigilant."
- [19:09] Romani cos Montclaire asks, "There is a chance that if the third guild Malia has proposed takes off, of crafters and medics, they may also get a member on the council."
- [19:09] ??? asks, "Do you require to keep the demon bodies for the bounty to be paid out?"
- [19:10] Romani cos Montclaire says, "Malia would handle that, but I believe that would be best. The body or head, proof of action."
- [19:16] "Thanks, Stellus."
- "Currently, I believe three is the best number. There can be no ties with three people, and each member of the Triumvirate covers a specific role. The Stellus is the head of our religion, the Commander the head of our military, and the Elected Triumvir the voice of tha people. All three key aspects of Osronan life are held in this; Faith, Security, and Democracy."
- Huh, that was actually kind of a cool slogan.
- "The bounty is still a conceptual thing, but yes, we would require proof of death. The head would be sufficient, I don't really care what ya do with the rest, yeah?"
- That said, she took a brief account of the attendees.
- "Right. I reckon that concludes things. Feel free to disperse at ya will, and thanks for attending. Again, my proverbial door is always upon if ya got questions, concerns, or ideas."
- (Malia Arsali)
