letter home

A letter makes its way from Providence across the sea. No official seals or Imperial branding. It's simple, plain parchment without a header or single insignia. Its destination? Rintlan, the jewel of Kal Azul, and a humble home on a dusty road off of its main mercantile district

Grul:

If I know you, you're probably still living with dad and Vagan in the old house. You always clung so tight to tradition it'd drown you if there was a flood.

I should have written more. Unless the couriers I hire have lied to me, you got the coin and the packages.

Has Vagan started his tour on the Wall? Dad's not gotten any worse off, has he? Is he still alive? I know he was getting up there and wouldn't hear a word we said about him retiring. If he's still going out on militia shifts, please hit him over the head for me. You always knew how to get him to listen. You were always what held us together when it was the worst.

If you haven't used the prosthetics I sent ages ago - please. Please. Don't be too proud. They're not the real thing, I know, but you'll be able to string a bow and sew again. I can't undo what happened, I know that, but this is how I can best fix what I've done wrong.

When I left I said I was going to make it all worth it. I meant every word, no matter what you've been hearing. I'm still me. There's a purpose for everything. I promise. I haven't forgotten you all, and I haven't forgotten our Home. Some day we'll all have the better lives we deserve; we don't have to be content with the hand 'Fate' dealt us.

It hurts being so far away. I hope you'll write back. Tell me about Home. I miss it every day - just like I miss all of you.
