Kind of in residents - there are three modes of housing
To clarify for you, standard residential, AKA student housing, is the normal dormitory system
there are also nearby, college-alligned apartment buildings(edited)
What I am in is the third, which my campus offers along with a scholarship program, called the LLC, or Living Learning Community
basically it's just a place where the other people in the dorm are a similar year to you and you can discuss classes and help each other
