  1. It starts with a box of chocolates that Kirari opens while taking tea. Sayaka makes sure to take a good look at it-- not because she wants any, no! She'd never think to ask for the President's food--but because she wants to make sure that it isn't anything diabolical. Kirari's reputation has only grown since the gamble that passed control of Hakkuyou Academy--and Sayaka's heart--into Kirari's hands. The housepet system has upset many, and Sayaka wouldn't put it past a disgruntled student to send poisoned chocolates under the guise of goodwill.
  2.
  3. The box's logo isn't one that Sayaka recognizes. Is that a good thing? The heirs of several food conglomerates attend the school, but this chocolate isn't one of their products. Not to mention that Sayaka doesn't think any of them are pets at the moment. Though not being a housepet doesn't necessarily preclude wanting to hurt Kirari. Perhaps she should check...
  4.
  5. "Sayaka." Her president's voice, cool but soft, cuts through the silence of the office. Sayaka jumps, hands tightening around the folder she keeps clutched to her chest.
  6.
  7. "I--! Yes, President?"
  8.
  9. Kirari smiles at her. She's usually smiling, but the way she is now, with her hand cupping her cheek and her gaze light and easy, makes Sayaka's face burn and sweat dampen her palms. "Come here."
  10.
  11. Sayaka obeys, of course. Kirari stretches out of her lazy sprawl, then plucks a chocolate from the box with blue, manicured nails. Sayaka's eyes widen when Kirari holds it out to her.
  12.
  13. "P-President?" The chocolate approaches. Sayaka leans back, thoroughly confused. "What are you doing?"
  14.
  15. "Waiting for you to open your mouth, of course." Kirari's smile hasn't changed, but there's a gleam in her eyes that makes her look almost mischievous. "You're not making this very easy," she notes when Sayaka squeezes her eyes shut.
  16.
  17. "But that's your chocolate! I shouldn't--" No, more than that, she... "I don't understand."
  18.
  19. "Hmm. Does the fact that it's mine bother you so much? If it's mine, then I get to do as I please with it, don't I?" Kirari's tone is so sly that Sayaka has to peek. Kirari is tapping the chocolate against her lips, pressing its--are those gold flakes? What kind of chocolate is this!?--gilded surface against her smile. Sayaka gulps. "And it would please me if you'd eat this. Even just one bite."
  20.
  21. "President..."
  22.
  23. "Come now, Sayaka." Kirari holds the chocolate out again. "You were staring at it so intently. Why not try some for me?"
  24.
  25. There's a bit of gold stuck to Kirari's lipstick. Sayaka eyes it, flushes, and adjusts her glasses. Her president's gaze is knowing, as if she already knows the outcome of this situation. Sayaka supposes that it's not hard to guess: in the three months since Kirari recruited her to the student council, Sayaka hasn't once refused a request.
  26.
  27. Her thoughts are noisy. Kirari's smile is warm. Sayaka opens her mouth, but when Kirari makes no move to pop the chocolate in for her, Sayaka has no choice but to lean forward and take it herself.
  28.
  29. "Good girl," Kirari says, swiping at the corner of her lips. Sayaka's face feels like it's aflame. Somehow, she doubts that there really had been anything to wipe away.
