  1. Joe Manchin loves to talk about 'bipartisanship', but there's only one kind of compromise he's into these days - compromising what West Virginians want with what Washington wants.
  2.
  3. He'll make a good show of standing up to the EPA, because he knows that's what West Virginians want. He'll write bills reigning them in (as long as he knows they can't pass), vote on resolutions of disaproval, talk on his twitter about how much he applauds this or that, but when it comes to something that matters? On June 20 he had the chance to cut the EPA's budget in a recission bill. If he had voted yes, it would have passed. He didn't, so it failed.
  4.
  5. He knows West Virginians want tariffs to protect American workers and American businesses against cheating foreign competition - so he puts out a grand statement on his website announcing his support for President Trump's trade action to hold China accountable. But when the issue comes to the Senate floor, like it did on July 11, he voted AGAINST the tariffs. Bipartisan? Sure! He sided with the bipartisan establishment which doesn't care if America's industrial base gets gutted and shipped overseas so long as their checks keep coming in.
  6.
  7. Since Manchin loves to play both sides of the aisle and talk out of both sides of his mouth with his 'bipartisanship', big money knows that his vote is always up for grabs if the price is right. And he's done very well for himself over the years - his net worth is nearly $6 million, making him the 19th-richest senator, even though he's been in politics since 1982 and has never worked a real job in his life.
  8.
  9. There is ONE West Virginian who can always count on his vote - well, if she didn't live in Pennsylvania these days - and that's his pharmaceutical CEO daughter. Her company has donated more than $180,000 to daddy.
  10.
  11. Politics has always been a dirty business, and kicking Joe Manchin out won't end that on its own. But West Virginia already has one Senator who does what she says she's going to do with Shelly Moore Capito, who DID vote to cut the EPA's funding and DID vote to support the tariffs. There's no reason we can't make it two, and voters are gonna have the choice to do exactly that on November 6.
