Potatoes

Potato tubers are developed in underground stolons and potato tubers are morphologically a modified stem - according to professor (emeritus) Lars Roer at Ås Agricultural College.

Botanically potato planting is perennial, which at the beginning of each vegetation period progresses from underground storage organs.

Potato plants belonging to the nightshade family and has the Latin name Solanum tuberosum.

We have in all practices held the potato tubers outside the vegetable concept, not least because of the extent of the growing and consumption of potatoes.

Potatoes are traditionally used for dinner, and from the last century it is recognized that the dinner plate is divided into three equal parts:

1. Meat / Fish

2. Potatoes (rice)

3. vegetables
