- Tzara, Luna, and Mira found themselves in the Chamber of Contemplation, awaiting their trial.
- Lydia, the maiden confessor, watched over them as they prepared.
- They got introduced, and all three ate the food prepared. Tzara meditated at the altar, and burnt the incense provided.
- Lydia led them to the axis square, where the Adjudicator and several braves awaited them. Before them was a font of moonlight, representatives from their house, and the shaman-officiant, Kaliero.
- After a brief pep talk from Hophthalimos and Gavrinna, Mira, Tzara, and Luna approached one at a time for their augury. The Adjudicator looked aghast by what he divined in the moonlight, in roughly equal measure for each of them. He beckoned Kaliero close for each pronouncement and Kaliero too, paled and appeared deeply troubled.
- During the final augury, the Adjudicator implored Kaliero to 'protect them, they are the Archons..." and promptly died. Simultaneously, the veil between worlds thinned, and filled the axis square with fog. Kaliero stayed behind to attend to the Adjudicator, and told Luna, Tzara, and Mira to get themselves to safety.
- Almost immediately, they were faced with Aurings, carnivorous goat-men from the beyond. They vanquished their foes with some difficulty. Kaliero came to assist them after the commotion and hurried them to the infirmary in the Cathedral of Isha.
- There, he revealed to them their vocation. Before the Adjudicator perished, he pronounced them as 'Archons'. This name is mentioned in the Chronicle of Galthan, an ancient apocryphal tome penned by Galthan himself. It mentions an 'age of calamity' in which the fate of Rennisilon and humanity will be irrevocably perverted, if it is not for four who will be called to the vocation of Archon.
- Kaliero confirmed it is indeed they, who were chosen, along with one other. He tasked them with retrieving the relics of past Archons, one of which is deep below the Founder's Runestone. After they have completed this task, they may return to the Viszudar for further direction, council, and aid. He retrieved a chest of supplies while they rested and proffered it to the party.
- Mira checked in with her family in the morning, because Kaliero would not permit her to leave during the night, while the streets were dangerous. They were well defended, and entirely unscathed. Her grandfather seemed to consider it a dangerous honor to be selected as an archon, and had at least an inkling of what the task would entail.
- Returning to the group, Mira, Tzara, and Luna were lowered down the lift by Kaliero. He instructed them to take the mountain pass to avoid banditry in the area.
- They followed his advice and took the trail. When they were resting, they heard someone approach. Scouting ahead, they found a hobgoblin cultist with two Aurings in tow approaching the party. They quickly dispatched him and questioned him.
- The questioning did not reveal anything of immense import. It was revealed there is an enclave of hobgoblin cultists of Tarmyra stationed to the west, in the lost hills. Tarmyra is the 'queen of madness', whom this hobgoblin seems to think set these events in motion.
- Luna slew him.
