  1. During the red war many guardians sought answers from The Light and The Traveller. As a freshly risen guardian still forming their ideas about the power of the light, Eru thought along different lines. She came to believe that the Light is a conduit; it can be shaped into Arc and Void and Solar, but unshaped its only power is the creation of Guardians. Therefore, she thought, surely there must be a way to achieve the elemental powers of the light without ever touching it. She spent her free time during the war chasing this idea, but had little success; witnesses to her meditations on the Void reported seeing tiny wisps of the element drifting from her body, and her understanding of its nature deepened, but she remained unable to manifest any of her former abilities.
  2. Eru was deep in one of these meditations when The Traveller, focussed entirely on where her light had been. As the wave of the travellers light passed over her, she experienced a vision; a great Dark shadow encroaching upon the system extinguishing many twinkling lights as it closed in around earth. But even as she despaired, flickers of flame began to appear around the system, banishing the darkness wherever their Light shone. Few at first, but gradually they began to spread and multiply. Wherever their light overlapped it shone brighter than ever, and Eru watched as the shadow was pushed out entirely, leaving only the golden flames and their Light.
  3. Waking from her vision, she was surprised to be hit in the face with a bucketful of water. Disoriented, she looked around at the smouldering remains of her tent; a glance down showed a golden hammer held loosely in her hand.
