  3. Prologue: We Are Rockin’ Star!
  4.
  5. We open with Riina and co. acting out the breakup of a band, much to Chiyo’s confusion. We then have a flashback to the group arriving at their new training camp, with P explaining that their next Live will be rock themed. Ranko comments on how P won’t be joining them for the whole duration, and Kyoko assures her that he’ll be back on the last day. P also leaves the group a video camera for them to record all their activities. Back in their training camp’s form, the group discusses what they should record. Riina suggests recording everything they do, be it lessons or just daily life. While Chiyo feels her daily life is mundane and unnecessary for the recording, she goes along with it.

  8.
  9. Day 2 of training. Kyoko and Chiyo work together on breakfast while Syoko watches in awe. Ranko walks in half-asleep, unaware that Riina already has the camera rolling. Later in the studio, the group members assume their roles: Riina on guitar, Kyoko on bass, Ranko as the “player of the mystic keys”, Chiyo on drums, and Syoko as the vocalist. After a practice session, the group begins to review. Syoko is a bit concerned that, despite being the vocalist, everyone still sings. Riina assures her that Syoko will be carrying the group, vocals-wise. Kyoko and Riina reflect on the symmetry they all have as a unit, and feel they’re off to a strong start.

  11. Chapter 2: Signs of Success
  12.
  13. Taking the camera with her, Syoko goes out for a walk with Chiyo and Kyoko. Kyoko plans to make a hot pot for dinner later, and has Syoko and Chiyo assist her by gathering mushrooms. Chiyo doesn’t quite understand why she was brought along, and Kyoko explains that there’s more to the training camp than just practicing; they can bond and become closer as a group, which can help them improve during practice as well. Feeling that isn’t her style Chiyo explains that she doesn’t need to bond with the group and instead just be the supporter in the same manner as with Chitose. Syoko admires Chiyo, comparing her to a mushroom: never doing anything particularly brilliant, but still supporting the food.
  14. Later, after another lesson, Riina feels that the group hasn’t made as much progress compared to previous sessions. Both she and Syoko comment on how they all feel scattered and muting each other. Chiyo steps up, suggesting they approach it like an orchestra and designate a conductor. The group decides to time their roles with Syoko, who can signal each member with eye contact, and prepare to make their mushroom hot pot. Ranko has a slight hiccup.

  16. Chapter 3: Thin String
  17.
  18. Kyoko and Riina find Ranko practicing early. Ranko doesn’t feel that she’s doing her best, and wants to work harder. Riina and Kyoko assuage her anxiety by comparing the keyboard to styling her hair, and how she’ll be amazing if she gives it time. It takes Ranko a moment to realize the camera was rolling during the entire exchange, and she requests a do-over in order to maintain her dark image for the camera. Later on, the group prepares for another lesson, following Syoko’s lead. The session gets more intense than usual, and Ranko falls over. As she stands up, Ranko notices that she bumped Riina’s guitar and broke the strings.

  20. Chapter 4: Discord
  21.
  22. Ranko is feeling down after breaking Riina’s guitar. Kyoko and Riina try to cheer her up by downplaying the accident, followed by Riina trying to get Ranko to do cool poses for the camera in the hopes that it might help. Suddenly, Chiyo interrupts the three and asks them to drop the act. She explains that the camera is the root of the problem, and it forced Ranko to maintain her chuuni mannerisms for longer than normal because it was always rolling. This left her rather restless, and led to the accident. Chiyo determines that it’s better to break the camera, much to Syoko’s protest. Riina understands what Chiyo is saying, and agrees that the camera left her feeling like she had to prove she could be a rock idol for the Live’s theme. Ranko confirms Chiyo’s speculation, that the stress from having camera trained on her prevented her from being at her best. Kyoko agrees that the camera should be shut off, and that everyone should forget about the documentary and the band. They all need to get their feelings out, without any pressure.

  24. Chapter 5: Reliable Heartbeat
  25.
  26. The group takes some time outside, with Riina turning the camera back on. Riina brings up how beautiful the scenery is and that they should at least catch it on camera. The group takes notice as well, with Ranko commenting that she never got a chance to see it due to practicing. She believes they’ll be able to truly perform at their best now that they’re conveying their feelings. Riina and Syoko scream into the night, their hearts feeling full and content. Later that night, the girls meet up with P once more. Each of them expresses how fulfilled they feel, and decide to show P the results of their training before they leave.

  28. Epilogue: Everlasting Starlight
  29.
  30. We begin with P and the band watching the documentary, followed by Chiyo wondering why P had the camera with him in the first place. She exclaims that it ended up causing trouble and expresses how it put a great deal of pressure for Ranko. P explains how it was all for the sake of “letting rock build up in their hearts”, and give them a rebellious spirit. While Chiyo reprimands him for his actions, Kyoko and Syoko feel somewhat grateful for the experience, as the band would never have become as united without the drama. Riina suggests that they all hang out some more after the Live ends, to which the rest of her group members all agree. P wishes them good luck, as Ranko leads the others to prepare for their performance.
