  1. Ludum Dare Theme Ideas:
  2.
  3. Floating Islands [I predict this will win, no promises😉] (+1)
  4. - For sure a platformer, very physics and possibly puzzle based
  5. - Abuse moving platforms.
  6. - Possible idea to move around the platforms with the mouse
  7. - This uses energy (or whatever) and you can collect more energy by platforming
  8. - Includes undo and reset key
  9. - Grid with snapping while moving platforms so there aren’t any crazy bugs.
  10. - Possibly try 2d low poly artstyle?
  11. - Huge varieties in areas. Similar to MO
  12.
  13. The more you have, the worse it is (+1)
  14. - More is less
  15. - Speed Challenge Platformer where you must avoid the collectables?
  16. - The more you collect, the heavier and slower you get
  17. - Huge varieties in areas. Similar to MO
  18. - Include some sort of leaderboard and ranking system
  19. - Rank is based on your speed
  20.
  21. A single resource (-1)
  22. -
  23.
  24. Limited space (0)
  25. - Can use similar ideas to “expanding”
  26.
  27. Expanding (+1)
  28. - A wave based arena game where as the waves progress, you get more items to expand the level to get EVEN more things
  29.
  30. You are not the main character (+1)
  31. - This theme makes it to the final round in almost every ludum dare. Similar to how inconvenient superpowers always makes it to rounds 1-3.
  32. - Similar to later MvD games where you must edit the level while a robotic character moves for you.
  33.
  34. Tiny Machines (+1)
  35. - Can use similar ideas to “you are not the main character”
  36. - Go crazy with the art
  37.
  38. Only 3 colors (-1)
  39. - This isn’t Gameboy jam.
  40. - I would try and bend the rules with this theme. While it is ‘only 3 colors’. That could refer to my main mechanic rather than entire game!
  41. - Keep the pallet simple.
  42. - Mechanics similar to icaruga (however you say it), and Recore.
  43.
  44. Broken World (-1)
  45. - The world is literally broken in pieces
  46. -travel through the cracks (upside-down) to get around (platforming sections?)
  47.
  48. Start with nothing (+1)
  49. - Originally gave this a (-1) but I think this theme as a lot of potential.
  50. - The exact opposite of “The more you have, the worse it is”.
  51. - Collectables can increase your stats including speed, jump-height,
  52.
  53. You control the scenario, not the character (+1)
  54. - Can use similar ideas to “you are not the main character”
  55.
  56. One level but constantly changing (+1)
  57. - Can use similar ideas to “expanding”
  58.
  59. Death is useful (+1)
  60. - Once saw a similar idea in an SMW romhack where you would have to find a way to die to beat the level.
  61. - A puzzle platformer game where you must use switches to open doors to hopefully find a way to kill you.
  62. - I also suck at puzzles.
  63.
  64. One minute (-1)
  65. - This is very similar to last year’s theme (running out of power) where I had a great first day but lost all of my ideas on the second which caused me to fail
  66.
  67. Into the unknown (-1)
  68. - Possible procedural generation, Spelunky like game.
  69.
  70. Everything is connected (-1)
  71. - pls no
