Seki character information sheet

>Name:  赤 "Seki" (meaning:  red)

99-year old vengeful spirit that has turned into something resembling a youkai.  he was once human.  because he's technically still a vengeful spirit, possession won't cause him to be reborn as the evil spirit, and he's technically neither male nor female.

>Personality:
Deep down, he is so filled with rage, that if he were to embrace that, he would immediately start to kill everyone he saw, with few or no exceptions.
However, he has a level of self-control that makes this almost totally optional.  Although he never abandoned this anger, he makes it useful to him when he has sufficient reason to kill for example.  Most of the time he conducts himself in a fairly reasonable manner.  He needed to develop this level of self-control not only to make himself stronger but also to give others less reason to kill him.
While he actually has powerful self-confidence and self-esteem, when it comes to how he normally conducts himself he will appear to have fairly low self-confidence and self-esteem.  This particular part of how he carries himself is mostly a game he's playing for fun, rather than trying to take advantage of others with dishonesty.  However, there is some real basis to it as well, because he still chooses to see the world as unfair and not let go of his rage.  But he doesn't play the game around oni without telling them exactly what he's doing first, since otherwise it will make them mad.
Because of his level of self-control, he can form a fairly normal variety of genuine positive feelings toward people and be genuinely friendly and kind, which can be combined with the charisma he usually chooses not to display too much of.  However, when he embraces his deep anger, the only positive feelings that would retain any hold over his heart at that time would be something like a strong love.  He doesn't have anything like that at present.  But when he returns to his usual state, many positive feelings will be able to resurface.

"Once upon a time, I was born as a human named Hineno Tomosada.  I wasn't all that different from your average human.  I worked hard to survive and get places in the world, and I achieved a degree of success.  I wasn't rich.  But I had more than most people in Japan.  Of course, I wanted more!

But one day...  One fateful day..."  He grinds his teeth.  "I was captured, beaten, robbed, and thrown in a little jail cell.  In fact, I was beaten every day and given what didn't even qualify as food.  By now, you can imagine what I did.  I cursed them and the unfairness of the world with every fiber of my being!"  His emotions flared up a little as he said that, though only enough for you to tell that he means it.  "Know what I did after that?  I died just like that, in the cell.  Well that was the icing on the old cake!  I turned into a vengeful spirit that wanted to curse everything and everyone to death, so *consumed* by anger I was."

"I vaguely remember that it didn't take much to drive my captors to insanity and ruin," he said daintily.  "I don't know when it was, but a miko came to get rid of me, dominated me with her will, and sealed me down here, underground.  Of course, I resented this deeply.  What I also did was calm down a little.  Being dominated by her will brought back some of my reason.  Then it was 10 years of extreme difficulty before I learned to control myself, but I have to, see, because I was the weakling on the block down here.

Once I reached a certain point, I learned to use my anger to my advantage, and I got stronger fast."  You can tell that he's proud of this.  "I became a youkai, or whatever this is.  If you can use this kind of anger to your advantage, you've got it made, let me tell you.  Eventually, I realized that this didn't mean I was happy though.  These days I take it a bit more easy, and smell some roses for once.  Living underground reminds me of my resentment at being sealed even though I broke the seal, and everything reminds me of my resentment at being captured and robbed and dying even though I'm doing pretty well now.  There's no escaping it unless I finally let it go, but I've achieved a measure of happiness already."

>Abilities & Skills & Tools/Weapons:
1.  can go into an altered state of consciousness out of anger alone, and can retain a degree of sanity in this state which would drive most to insanity, having trained himself to use this to his advantage.  this state can also be used to overcome many psychic attacks that he normally couldn't.
2.  manipulation of anger.  if someone is too weak-minded or already has enough anger to let him overcome their discipline, this will be effective, although the extent varies.  he can also make people angry at a specific target, although this has a lower yet still very significant level of effectiveness (it is kinda like a tank's taunt skill in an MMORPG except this can potentially direct them toward any target).  he can use this ability on thousands of people at the same time if he really wanted.
3.  all of his capabilities can rise the more angry and focused he is and the more he embraces his anger.  this includes physical capabilities, magical and spiritual capabilities, and even luck.  his anger actually is what is keeping him alive as the sort of being he is now.  without it he will not only return to being just a vengeful spirit, but also lose the "vengeful" part.  by now he's strong enough that he wouldn't just become an average sort of spirit, though.
4.  a measure of skill at manipulating qi.  this is self-learned, which means that it is quite different from Meiling's formal training.  controlling his anger and using it to his advantage made him much more able to discover and manipulate it intuitively, and when he gets angry and focused enough, he can produce a very large amount of qi.  in practice though, he mainly just uses this ability to strengthen his ability to attack and take hits.  these days, he also uses this to calm people down.

>Relationships:  By now he knows various people underground, but I'm not setting any specific relationships.
>Appearance:  Pitch black skin, short white hair, two small horns, irises are red, 5 feet tall.  When he's angry he can make his toes and fingers become clawed and teeth fanged.  He wears a white shirt and pastel blue shorts and some sandals, like he's out on holiday.  Wears a straw hat that has a white fabric (instead of the black fabric in the image I'll post).
