  9. The forest looked as if it were almost ancient. The trees thick and old, roots that were twisted. It might once have been filled with bird-song and animals that roamed. But now it was aged past its former glory. Its canopy was so dense that you could only see the occasional streak of sunlight that rarely touched the forest floor. Even its thick vines were slowly taking away the last remnants of the temple that stood in the center.

  11. Regardless, Ogun dashed through the woods, leaping over thin winding creaks and the slippery rocks. He dodged and zipped past rotting oak trees and under lowered and snapped branches, until coming across an unexpected twisted creek which was mirrored the deep greens of the trees, and decided to set up camp there. As he was washing himself off in the water, against the mottled grey and green of a nearby rock, a frog stood, almost as invisible as a seahorse on coral, albeit in more somber hues. It was almost as large as a toad but with smooth skin and eyes the color of stagnant pond water. It was motionless, as if it had been deprived of all life and motion, and gazed at Ogun, occasionally blinking for what seemed like a year. Ogun shuddered a bit, as he looked back in profound confusion, disturbed but somewhat curious. After a few moments of experiencing an intense awkward atmosphere, he snapped back into reality and motioned towards his clothes to prepare for the impending night. Even though he had his back turned towards it, he could still feel its intensive stare, as if it were trying to pierce his very being with its eyes.

  13. And as such, times generally pass as things continued on like this. Despite anything that he tried, he just couldn't get the frog to waver its gaze off of him. One day, as Ogun was roasting small but filling fish he had managed to catch in the creek's steam, he heard a distinct voice say "Hello". It was said in a high pitch frequency, and sounded coarse like a fragmented rock in a hessian sack, moving and grinding against each other. Immediately, Ogun darted up startled, and moved his head in every direction, to see who exactly was calling out; but no one seemed to be within the area. "Hello", the mysterious voice said again, except this time, Ogun had managed to get the general direction of where it came from, and abruptly turned his head in said direction, only to be met with nothing but the creek and the abundance of thick greenery surrounding it. "Down here buddy", the voice continued on to say. Ogun squinted his eyes, as his forehead starts to fade into a blue color as he slowly lowered his eyes downward, and was met with the same frog who had been antagonizing him for all this time! His eye twitched, unable to fully process what he thought to be was going on. A talking frog? Could frogs even talk? If not, then was this frog special? Ogun got on his knees and motioned closer to it, and closer, and closer, until it spoke again, telling him to back off a bit! Though he already had a vague idea of what was happening, it was still surprising to have his suspicions of talking from being confirmed before his very eyes, thus causing him to stagger back into the steam, soaking his clothes.

  15. As Ogun's clothes were drying by a fire he has created, he sat near the frog, and began to converse with it; something he had never thought he'd be doing on this supposed journey. He questioned it, asking it why it was just sitting and observing for all this time in a disturbing silence, to which it responded for two reasons: It wanted to see what kind of person he was like, having never interacted with a being like Ogun before, combined with the fact that he was shy, so it took him the time to muster up the courage, then proceeded to question Ogunin return, asking him where he was from and what brought him to these parts. And so, without realizing it, the two conversed throughout the night, all the way until dawn.
