  1. **Prompt**
  2. The year is 1822, and in the city of Nyxa, Britain, the streets are filled with factories, and those who walk the world are no more than headgear, clothing, and souls. The factories create both the world's weapons, and the shards that bind a soul to its form, known as a "binding shard". For the average person, the world seems to be a safe place where they will never die, but underneath the surface, secretive organizations run everything; from who the rulers are, to who is exempt from what laws, and, to an extent, who lives and who dies. While those in these organizations are typically self-centered, for the most part, the organizations have usually kept a sense of order so the common folks can live peacefully.
  3. Until recently. Recently, a few organizations have been almost randomly targeting civilians, and killing, torturing, and/or maiming them. Those executed for these acts have all exuded a thick, black fog upon death, which seemed to rot their binding shards.
  4. **Info**
  5. In this campaign, you will play as a member of one of these organizations, the Searing Justice, which seeks to burn away this fog from the hearts and minds of those corrupted by it, and restore order to Nyxa. In this world, as well as the regular medieval weapons and magic, guns exist, and are more commonly used than medieval weaponry, however it is, of course, more suspicious to be carrying around a large tommygun compared to something like a tiny dagger. Also, racial traits still do exist; your binding shard carries the traits of your race, both physical (like Savage Attacks) and mental (like Dwarvish Weapon Training). Your race is only useless for the purpose of determining your appearances, as that is determined by your own personal tastes.
  6. **Themes**
  7. This campaign will contain a large amount of mystery, drama, and politics. While combat is, of course, going to happen, you will be devaluing yourself if you pick a class or build that would be useless in a social situation; for example, most barbarians will not do the greatest here, unless they take specific feats and/or proficiencies to compensate for the class not providing them with many social skills. Also, while this will, of course, depend on how the group decides to handle most situations, it is highly likely that stealth, espionage, and deception will all be valuable skills to have. Finally, expect a very grim and dark tone; there will be comedic moments, like everything I write and DM, but the majority of the campaign is going to have a serious, moody atmosphere. The dice will decide if you live or die; for once, I will not interfere to keep you alive. You all have one another's backs, so if someone in the party is going to die, it's up to you to save them, not me.
  8. **Creating a Character & New Rules**
  9. Your character will be starting off at 3rd level, and will have one free feat of your choice (or two if you go human, **vallug**). Like always, most of the content in existence will be accepted provided you check with me and I deem it balanced (or balance it out myself), so feel free to try something strange and new. I expect your characters to reach roughly 12th-13th level before the campaign ends.
  10. I will also be trying out a "Charms" system based on Hollow Knight and/or Bloodborne, which will basically be like some magic items with exclusive attunement slots (as in, not affecting number of attuned magic items) that you can swap out for one another. You will find many of them for sale in the shops of Nyxa, but there will also be some dropped by foes or found out in the world.
  11. We will be using Vecna's firearm rules, though some guns should be reflavored to fit the setting. Revolvers were invented in Britain, so yes, they fit here.
  12. Finally, if you want to have a character that, for some reason, isn't made from a binding shard, DM me about it. I'll tell you about how that'd impact your character, if it's plausible (it will vary based on race), and in the end, if I'm fine with it. You know me, I'm pretty allowing, so I'll probably let you do as you wish.
