- Rosenkrantz 1:
- RosenkrantzGM IT IS THE 41ST MILLENNIUM…
- RosenkrantzGM For a planet of its size, Faith has a fast rotation period, at just 26 standard hours. This may account for the high tidal activity along the equator, and perhaps even the strong, protective magnetic field.
- RosenkrantzGM Unable to adjust, in any case, to his new environment, Lord Wilhelm is reported to have slept for 4 hours and once awake insisted on climbing to the peak of the larger hill to the North-East of the lake, despite protesting from the House Guard that going to the other side of the lake at night could be dangerous.
- RosenkrantzGM The party returned to camp just after dawn, one man short, dragging along the large gutted carcass of a predator of thick orange-gold fur, which he has displayed outside his Pavilion
- =-= RosenkrantzGM has changed the topic to “Planetside”
- RosenkrantzGM The landers have resumed their ship-to-surface runs, and the camp now has a barracks with its own small armory being set up, with an extension meant to function as the Lord-Protector’s and his staff’s quarters.
- RosenkrantzGM Next to this, is Lord Wilhelm’s Pavilion, flanked on the other side by that of House Grandier’s. Directly opposite to this, the Aquila Brethren fly their colors beneath those of House Gillam on the outermost section of the camp in a sort of outpost.
- Baine_Mort moves around the camp
- Varenus_Grandier wakes and leaves his tent with a new fury for adventure, and a strong tingling in his third eye
- Makh_Chomun is still in his cot, sleeping like a grox.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "Just out there, by the platform."
- RosenkrantzGM The Lord-Captain is directing two of his guards, carrying a beautiful square table and two matching low chairs - his regicide set. They place it atop a low wooden platform outside a few meters away from a fire.
- Varenus_Grandier approaches his lord and bows low
- RosenkrantzGM "Varenus, good morning! Did you sleep well?"
- Varenus_Grandier "Indeed I did, the landing and resulting... complications in the lander left me very tired. But I am well now." He smiles, but his black eyes counter the action "My lord, would you like to accompany me on an expedition?"
- Baine_Mort approaches, "Seem you had everything brought down here." Baine says looking at the square table.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "I went on an expedition of my own this morning! This world is full of wonderful species..." his gaze turns to his new trophy.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "Only the bare essentials, Master Mort!" he says with a wink.
- Varenus_Grandier "I'm planning on capturing some of the larger species for examination, and what is this fine specimen?" he indicates towards the trophy
- Baine_Mort gives Wilhelm a smile back
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "This one? Well, it's got a temper, an aggressive predator. Come to think of it, I haven't given it a name."
- Makh_Chomun After some time Makh is finally roused from his sleep by his hunger. With a groan he forces himself up from his cot in the barracks and slips his boots on. He then seeks the closest thing that will provide him with breakfast.
- Baine_Mort walks over tot the fire.
- Varenus_Grandier "My lord! I hope you don't mind if I study this magnificent beast?"
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "By all means, though do take note that its organs are atop the peak of a hill."
- Varenus_Grandier begins examining the creature, taking samples and making a quick scetch
- RosenkrantzGM Its has sharp fangs the length of a man's hand, sharp claws, and a thick fur coat.
- Varenus_Grandier "Where exactly did you find this beautiful animal?"
- Baine_Mort stands a few feet from the fire as he stares at it, watching the flames.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm puts his arm around your shoulder, and slowly turns you to the hill overlooking the North-East corner of the lake. He points to the very top, "On our way to the peak, by a large rocky formation. The creature stalked us in the night. But I, too, can see in the darkness! Unfortunately, an armsman wasn't so lucky."
- Varenus_Grandier attempts to determine the creatures sex.
- Varenus_Grandier gropes the animal heartily, whistling while he does so
- Baine_Mort looks over at the square table, he stands there for a moment before heading off to find Chomun.
- RosenkrantzGM Low in the creature's abdomen, a sheath hides a retractable organ. The creature appears to be male.
- Varenus_Grandier "Now I wonder if it was protecting a den, maybe a mate..." he questions thoughtfully
- Makh_Chomun Some time later Makh is enjoying a double serving of what is being served this morning in camp. It seems to be a mixture of sort of sausage, hash, eggs, with a hefty amount of recaff.
- Baine_Mort approaches Chomun an takes a seat next to him, "Morning Makh."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "In any case, I would be delighted to go on another expedition. I wish to discover what wonders this planet has to offer."
- Makh_Chomun Makh greets Baine, though it's difficult to discern the greeting as his mouth is full.
- Baine_Mort waits for Chomun to finish eating.
- Varenus_Grandier "Well if you give me a moment to get prepared I would be happy to explore the wildlife of this world with you, my lord."
- Makh_Chomun After swallowing another mouthful Makh queries Baine. "You should eat Baine, you're looking more pale than usual." He finishes that with a bark of laughter.
- Baine_Mort smiles, "Yea your most likely right, though I came here to ask you to play a game of Regicide as our lord captain has brought down his set."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "I will have Lord Chomun arrange an escort," he nods.
- Varenus_Grandier nods and runs to his tent, quickly strapping on his armor and gathering his pack
- Makh_Chomun "Perhaps later, I don't think the Lord-Captain would appreciate us using his set. That thing from what I heard is worth half a planet." Makh smiles. "One of my officers has a well used set we could use the next time we're ship-side."
- Baine_Mort "I will hold you to that then for now i will get some food," Baine stands and goes to grabs some food. A moment later he returns to the table with a plate full of food and sits down to eat.
- Makh_Chomun "Not too bad," Makh comments as he's chewing his food. "Seems the Lord-Captain really unlocked the food stores this time."
- Varenus_Grandier returns to Wilhelm, geared up "Have you called an escort My Lord?"
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm, who is examining his regicide pieces looks up at you, a bit startled.
- Baine_Mort nods in agreement, "Could use a bit more flavoring, but other wise its good for the moment."
- RosenkrantzGM "Ah, Varenus! No... no, I have not. Come, let's find Makh," he place the pieces down, and invites you to follow him with a quick hand gesture.
- Varenus_Grandier quickly does, he comes up beside Wilhelm "Would you be interested in a game later?"
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm smiles, turning his head slightly to you, "It would be my pleasure." He walks to the barracks, past the men setting up the adjacent armory.
- RosenkrantzGM Once inside the mess hall, everyone inside rises from their seats at the sight of their Lord-Captain and the ship's Navigator.
- Varenus_Grandier gives them all a nod and a bow
- Makh_Chomun stands as well, though he brings his plate with him. His hunger is voracious, I'm sure his lord understands. Takes a lot of calories to get the Savage going.
- Baine_Mort stands
- Baine_Mort follows Chomun over to Wilhelm and Varenus.
- RosenkrantzGM "Lord Chomun! The good lord Grandier and I wish to continue cataloging the natural wonders on Faith. Arrange an escort, if you will. And do join us!"
- Makh_Chomun "At your command, m'lord." Makh then inhales his food, tosses the dishes back to the orderlies and quickly makes his way to his things.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "Master Mort, will you give us the pleasure of your company on this expedition?"
- Makh_Chomun While acquiring and equipping his armor and weapons Makh organizes an escort of Armsmen using his comm-bead.
- Varenus_Grandier stores away some sausage, in case they might need some bait
- Baine_Mort "Yes my Lord Captain." Baine finished his food and returnes the plate to the orderline and ready to head out.
- Makh_Chomun Armored and armed to the teeth, Makh makes his way to join Wilhelm and his expedition.
- Baine_Mort Baine quickly returns to Wilhem armed with his power sword, boltpistol and lasgun.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm waits by the central pyre, apparently talking to his recently-arrived Raven, resting on his forearm.
- Varenus_Grandier "Are we ready to head out?" He smiles and looks around the group
- Makh_Chomun looks around at the arranged Armsmen, and then back towards the Navigator. "I believe so, Professor, we await the Lord-Captain is all."
- RosenkrantzGM The Raven calls, and takes off, flying high.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "Look at how he spreads his wings!," his eyes tracking the dark corvid, "He loves these natural wind currents! Come, gentlemen, let's go."
- Baine_Mort nods and follows Whilhelm
- Makh_Chomun yells for the escort to move out. As he follows Makh looks over his bolt-pistols.
- Varenus_Grandier begins the hike up to the hill
- Varenus_Grandier actively searches around for any life forms, taking note of anything he sees
- Makh_Chomun watches the Raven soar from above. "Perhaps I should have brought Griff with me." Makh curses mentally for not thinking to bring his grapplehawk.
- RosenkrantzGM You travel parallel to a creek, for several hours you encounter a number of insect life, and small easily-spooked mammalians. Aveans become more plentiful as you enter a lightly wooded area. Birds of immense variety of calls, colored feathers, and even sizes.
- Varenus_Grandier attempts to copy their calls by whistling, laughing as he does so
- Makh_Chomun looks on in awe, never quite seeing so many animals of such diversity.
- Makh_Chomun "Are all worlds like this? My memories of Oblast never had such interesting looking wildlife."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm suddenly stops, and raises a fist.
- Baine_Mort halts next to Wilhelm.
- Varenus_Grandier "This is so wonderful, and think of all the knowledge I could extract." He turns to Makh "I do believe there are countless worlds like this my dear friend, but not all are like this."
- RosenkrantzGM "Do you see that?" he says, almost in a whisper.
- Baine_Mort "Yes my Lord, I do."
- Varenus_Grandier "What is it?"
- Makh_Chomun "Nothing but trees." Makh says with a whisper.
- RosenkrantzGM At the base of two tall, ancient trees, just beyond the high grass, there is a creature with beautiful ornate horns lying under the cool shade.
- Baine_Mort eye lock on the creature.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm slowly approaches.
- Baine_Mort holds his position, keeping an eye out for anything else.
- Varenus_Grandier stays close behind Wilhem, careful not to make sound
- Makh_Chomun stands stock-still, watching the Lord-Captain approach the beast. He hovers his hands over his bolt-pistol holsters, ready to draw in case anything goes wrong.
- RosenkrantzGM You can now hear low intermittent growls.
- RosenkrantzGM As you close the distance, something becomes apparent.
- RosenkrantzGM The creature is not resting. Your sense of smell tells you it has been dead for a few days.
- RosenkrantzGM Eppur si muove...
- RosenkrantzGM Small jolts move the carcass.
- Varenus_Grandier draws his gun and put a hand on the lord commanders shoulder
- Varenus_Grandier "Could be dangerous." he says quietly
- RosenkrantzGM "Interesting..." Wilhelm comments.
- RosenkrantzGM A snap from a branch on the floor, suddenly halts all movement or sound coming from the dead animal.
- Varenus_Grandier slowly takes out the sausage from his pack
- RosenkrantzGM From the opening on the animal's abdomen, you see the small dark nose of whatever is feeding, poke out and smell the air outside.
- Makh_Chomun silently pulls free one of this bolt-pistols, slowly moving towards Wilhelm at a crouched walk.
- Varenus_Grandier moves forward, keeping the food extended forward in his hand
- Baine_Mort pulls out his bolt-pistol as well quietly and moves toward Wilhelm as well.
- RosenkrantzGM The creature's clawed paw then emerges, slowly. Then the other.
- Varenus_Grandier holds up a hand, indicating you to wait
- RosenkrantzGM It then freezes in place... it's nose still scanning its surroundings.
- Varenus_Grandier stops a little distance away from the animal
- RosenkrantzGM In what must be a fraction of a second, the creature jolts out of the carcass, and jumps up, snatching the Navigator's offered food, and quickly makes its way up the tree, resting to eat on a branch.
- Varenus_Grandier smiles and examines the creature
- RosenkrantzGM It has thick dark fur, a bushy tail, and a long body on short limbs. It has sharp claws and fangs.
- Baine_Mort looks up at the creature.
- RosenkrantzGM It chews heartily on the strange yet delicious food.
- Varenus_Grandier begins to sketch the creature
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm approaches the tree.
- RosenkrantzGM "What a curious creature..."
- Varenus_Grandier "scavenger I assume."
- RosenkrantzGM +Master Chomun, this is Master-of-Etherics Olga. The Lord-Captain's vox-operator reports he is not with Lord Wilhelm...+
- RosenkrantzGM +Furthermore, he appears to have destroyed his comm-bead.+
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "No doubt... and what appetite!"
- Baine_Mort "It is a strange looking creature."
- Varenus_Grandier "do you happen to have any more food on you?"
- Makh_Chomun +Must have been when he went exploring last night. I'm with him now, is there something he that needs to be brought to his attention?+
- Baine_Mort "Nope."
- RosenkrantzGM +The Enginseer Prime wishes to speak with him+
- Makh_Chomun +One moment.+
- Makh_Chomun Makh approaches the Lord-Captain, "m'lord. Enginseer Ziel wishes to speak with you." Makh then profers his comm-bead to Wilhelm.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm stares at you for a few seconds.
- RosenkrantzGM "I... would rather you relay the message, Makh."
- Makh_Chomun Makh looks a tad embarrassed and gives a sheepish apology before telling Ziel to go ahead.
- RosenkrantzGM Neue-Ziel: +Chomun, I have news for Lord-Captain Wilhelm.+
- Makh_Chomun +Illuminate me then, m'lord wishes me to relay it to him+
- Varenus_Grandier finishes his sketch and slowly approaches the tree
- RosenkrantzGM The creature finishes eating the sausage, and looks down at the navigator, his nose busily at work.
- RosenkrantzGM Neue-Ziel +Very well. We have recalled half of the transport Landers and reduced departure times for the remaining ones. They require regular maintenance and rites. Otherwise, the machine spirits are overworked and will become furious.+
- Makh_Chomun +And what does that mean for us, then?+
- Varenus_Grandier slowly reaches towards the creature
- RosenkrantzGM It pulls its head back, and begins to climb up in reverse, stopping at a comfortable distance, yet remaining observant of the navigator.
- RosenkrantzGM "A curious one..." Wilhelm observes.
- Varenus_Grandier moves over to the carcass and cuts off a piece of meat, then moves back to the tree and extends it towards the creature
- Varenus_Grandier "Maybe I can get it to come closer."
- RosenkrantzGM Neue-Ziel +There will be reduced supplies and an irregular delivery schedule.+
- RosenkrantzGM It climbs a few slow steps down the tree, ever cautious.
- Makh_Chomun Makh visibly tenses and inhales sharply. He then replies in a low tone, +Wilhelm is not going to like that, Ziel.+
- Baine_Mort watches as Varenus tries to get closer to the creature
- RosenkrantzGM It climbs all the way down, and approaches the navigator. It stops a short distance away.
- Varenus_Grandier "Incredible."
- RosenkrantzGM It stands on its hind legs, and outstretches its arms.
- Makh_Chomun "Lord Captain, may I speak to you privately, for a moment?"
- Varenus_Grandier gives the creature the meat
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm snaps out his curious observation of the creature, and turns to you.
- RosenkrantzGM "Ah... yes?"
- RosenkrantzGM Neue-Ziel: +I'm well aware. The Lord-Captain will be merciful towards his new minor lord. As for me... well remember when I had to live in the Aquila for about two weeks?+
- Makh_Chomun "Ziel has informed me that the landers are being overworked, and that they need constant maintenance...which means reduced supplies from the ship and an irregular flight schedule."
- RosenkrantzGM The expression of delight in Wilhelm's face disappears completely.
- RosenkrantzGM "Do they not see the importance of making our presence known in this planet? Lord Chomun, this is unacceptable."
- RosenkrantzGM The creature overcomes its fears, and takes the piece of meat from Varenus. Instead of running off, however, it begins to eat it where it stands, shooting up the occasional glance up at the explorators.
- Varenus_Grandier slowly reaches his hand near the creatures snout
- Makh_Chomun holds his hands up to calm the Lord-Captain. "My lord, I'm sure Enginseer Ziel would not allow this to happen without good cause. He understands perfectly well what is at stake here. But if what he says is true, the transports could break down and leave us stranded if not seen to properly."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "He and I will have to have a word on this matter..."
- RosenkrantzGM The creature stops eating, and pins his meal under his claws. It looks up at the approaching hand, and lunges forward to bite it.
- Makh_Chomun "Of course my lord...." Makh thinks for a moment. "Would we be able to procure more smaller transports from Port Wander you think? Perhaps it would help speed up our efforts?"
- Varenus_Grandier quickly pulls his hand away in time before it is bitten
- RosenkrantzGM "No doubt we will need to make several journeys to and fro. The /Aurorae/ is not equipped to carry out an operation like that which will be required here on Faith. But our immediate concern is to impose our will upon the native populace. How am I to do this without the adequate supplies?"
- RosenkrantzGM Once finished eating the meat, the scavenger looks around for a moment, and quickly rushes up the tree, out of sight.
- Varenus_Grandier cuts of another piece of meat and whistles up at the tree
- RosenkrantzGM Some distance away, you hear the cracking of the primitive weapons.
- RosenkrantzGM The sound echoes through the area.
- Varenus_Grandier quickly pulls his hotshot and looks around
- Baine_Mort readies his boltpistol and looks around.
- Makh_Chomun "Form up!"
- RosenkrantzGM Fire is exchanged between two distinct groups.
- Baine_Mort forms up near Wilhelm and Chomun
- Varenus_Grandier quickly glaces towards the tree, then moves to the group
- RosenkrantzGM "Our natives?" Wilhelm inquires, taking a few steps in the direction of the sound.
- Varenus_Grandier Let's investigate."
- Baine_Mort follows
- RosenkrantzGM "They are war-like... potentially useful."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "How organized were they, Lord Chomun, in the conflict you observed?"
- Varenus_Grandier "Turn them against the enemies of the Imperium, and House Rosenkrantz."
- Makh_Chomun "I remember a phrase that Lt. Iyetsev said once, that comes to mind, 'To war is human?'"
- Makh_Chomun "They are organized enough to form rank in massive mobs. Rather orderly, and given their current level of tech, it's the only useful way for them to effectively use their weapons."
- Makh_Chomun "If you recall the group we ran into yesterday, imagine that, but much larger."
- RosenkrantzGM "Basic drills? I think you will have a good time turning them into an effective fighting force. Come, let's go. I wish to see for myself," Wilhelm says making for the clearing of the forest ahead.
- Baine_Mort follows with his bolt-pistol at the ready
- Makh_Chomun "In essence, yes my lord. Though their weaponry is...much to be desired, as you know.
- Varenus_Grandier follows behind, hellpistol ready
- RosenkrantzGM As the group advances, you realize that the scavenger trials behind you, leaving a safe distance between you.
- Baine_Mort "That's if Makh they do end up joining us."
- Makh_Chomun "They'll join...one way or another, Baine." Makh says darkly.
- Varenus_Grandier "What a fascinating creature."
- Baine_Mort "They will join us, or they will die by our hands,"
- RosenkrantzGM The fighting ceases several minutes before you are able to reach the clearance.
- RosenkrantzGM What you see is the scene of a deadly skirmish. Several bodies lay dead on either side of the field.
- RosenkrantzGM One group uniformed in the same colors as those flying over the bridge, the same green and gold. The other group apparently a civilian militia.
- Varenus_Grandier "On our side?"
- RosenkrantzGM "Educate me, Lord Chomun. Who are we looking at?"
- Baine_Mort "One of the group's is wearing the colors of the group we took out yesterday, not sure about the other." Baine says to Varenus
- Makh_Chomun "Militia of some sort, and men of the Dukedom. Hopefully they have been informed of our prescence, unlike the last group.
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "This in-fighting will not do... will not do at all... They must be pacified and made to unite."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm's Raven descends on the field, landing on the body of one of the uniformed soldiers.
- RosenkrantzGM From behind your position, the Navigator's scavenger races forward, directly towards the resting black bird.
- RosenkrantzGM At the last possible moment, it opens its wings and takes flight, the mammalian barely missing it.
- Makh_Chomun "Aye, the Duke seemed to bend the knee quickly, though his reasons were interesting from what I hear."
- Varenus_Grandier watches the scavenger with increasing interest
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "I fear the Lord-Confessor's efforts will not be enough. A display of force is the most efficient way to pacify and unite the warring primitives.
- Makh_Chomun "Forgive me for my incredulous thought, but have you experience in doing so, my lord?"
- Varenus_Grandier "Level a mountain with the /Praeliator Aurorae/." he says calmly
- Baine_Mort "That could be a possibility."
- Makh_Chomun gapes at that suggestion.
- Baine_Mort "Though that may be harder then you think Varenus."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm grins at the Navigator's opinion, "No, thankfully not. Sophen is a civilized world. My displays of force have been more political than militant in quelling factions 'warring' in other ways than open conflict."
- Varenus_Grandier "Shall we confront those men?"
- RosenkrantzGM "I will wish to meet with this 'duke', yes. He and whomever else claims sovereignty over these lands."
- Makh_Chomun "That will require a transport, as it's some distance away, Lord-Captain."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "I don't mean right this instant, of course. But it will be a necessary measure."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "Varenus, it appears your friend is not just a scavenger, but an opportunistic hunter, too. What will you name the curious species?"
- Varenus_Grandier "I think /Melis Mustela/ is appropriate."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "Yes, how scholarly. In common Gothic, however..."
- Varenus_Grandier "How about a binge, it seems to eat enough."
- RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm: "The Common Binge," he appears to think it over a bit. "I like it. You appear to have the makings of a naturalist, Mr. Grandier."
- Varenus_Grandier "I cherish information gathering of all kinds, but nature has a special calling to me." he says with a smile and a bow
- Rosenkrantz 2:
- Neue-Ziel recording his research of the 'servitor' on his data-slate.
- Neue-Ziel is feverly checking the Adeptus Mechanicus tomes looking for answers.
- Lucrezia is probably somewhere convenient on the ship.
- Caerwyn_Beraht is holed up in the ship's cathedral, discussing the finer points of the Creed Imperialis with the lay preachers who ensure the ratings remain strong in their faith.
- Lucrezia decides to go to the ship's cathedral, wondering what it is like.
- Caerwyn_Beraht "...said unto him thus: 'I walked in the shadow of the serpent, turgid with fear, but I did not succomb to loginess. I did not falter, or break, for I walked with the God-Emperor and his strength is humanity's and thus mine own. Ave Imperator." Caerwyn is standing near the shrine, barely clearing the lectern with his height as he addresses the attending lay preachers, a hard scrabble
- Caerwyn_Beraht bunch whose faith far exceeds their intelligence...or hygiene. With great sweeps of his arms, Caerwyn continues reading from the first tract of Interlocutus.
- Lucrezia quietly enters into the cathedral and finds herself a seat. She intently listens to the sermon, curious.
- Caerwyn_Beraht "The doubters continued to repudiate the wisdom of INTERLOCUTUS, the rational man, the godly man. They said unto him: 'But what of the serpent's corrupting influences? If you were not rended by its fangs, how did thee escape the venome of its rhetoric? Praytell, how could you stand before us now and deny the tacit truth of thine own ignorance? You could be under the sway of the serpent
- Caerwyn_Beraht now!"
- Caerwyn_Beraht "INTERLOCUTUS balked, for his faith in the GOD-EMPEROR quivered in the face of such scandalous accusations. But like the rock that breaketh the waves, INTERLOCUTS spake unto them: 'You speak of ignorance but ignore the obvious. The godly man, the rational man, the HUMAN, has been gifted with sentience by the GOD-EMPEROR. He knows in his own heart the lies of the serpent, and denies them
- Caerwyn_Beraht thus. As proven by thine existence, however, not all men are in possession of such facilities. The godly man, the rational man, the heavenly man, is the only one who can countenance the foullness of the serpent and shield his peers from it.' Defeated by his peerless logic, the doubters threw themselves before INTERLOCUTUS and proclaimed him their master. Ave Imperator"
- RosenkrantzGM "Ave Imperator", they reply in unison.
- Lucrezia "Ave Imperator."
- Neue-Ziel pacing in his office and says [Tech] "This is not possible. Omnissiah gives Life, Emperor protects..."
- Caerwyn_Beraht As the assembled lay preachers echo their master, gently rocking in religious fervor, their ecclesiarchal descends from the lectern and begins to annoint each with a dash of holy water. He then spies Lucrezia and a smile tickles his face, and his demenour immediately becomes much warmer. He strides over and annoints the seneschal, pressing his thumb against her forehead. "You came a tad
- Caerwyn_Beraht too late, ma'am. I think you would have enjoyed the first sermon."
- Neue-Ziel "01001000 01100101 01110010 01100101 01110011 01111001 00101110 00101110 00101110 "
- Lucrezia "Better late than never." She replies with a small smile.
- Caerwyn_Beraht catches the attention of his preachers and shoo them out of the cathedral with a limp wave of his arms. "We shall resume our studies on the morrow, mea frateris. Go go, go please." Caerwyn leans against a nearby pew, smiling and shaking the hands of his little helpers until they vacate the cathedral.
- RosenkrantzGM The preachers group up, and take their leave, though not without muttering a few words among themselves.
- Lucrezia smiles at every single preacher as they leave before refocusing on Caerwyn. "Figured I'd attend. Trying to get closer to the faith and all."
- Caerwyn_Beraht sighs wistfully as the last of the preachers leave. "Those lot are bereft of even the faintest glimmer of intelligence but God Emperor bless their little hearts. They try so earnestly." He settles down next to Lucrezia, starign at the impressive shrine to the God Emperor. "It warms my heart to hear you say that, Lucrezia. Faithlessness seems to be a bit of an issue aboard this
- Caerwyn_Beraht ship."
- RosenkrantzGM +Master Ziel, if we could get your attention in the Lighter Bay...+
- Neue-Ziel +Understood.+
- Neue-Ziel +Leader Magos Enginarium Katherine, report.+
- RosenkrantzGM +Reporting, Master Ziel+
- Lucrezia looks up towards the shrine. "I wouldn't say faithlessness. And well, maybe you should establish like an education program with a small curriculum?"
- Neue-Ziel +I require a Guard posted at my office. Make sure no one interfaces with our work.+
- (RosenkrantzGM +What am I, your fucking secretary? Use the comm-bead to arrange this shit yourself, you fat fuck+) NIGHTMARE
- RosenkrantzGM +Certainly, Master Ziel+
- Caerwyn_Beraht shadows her to the shrine, chuckling softly with every step. "Unless this curriculum involves strong drink and women, I doubt I'd have many takers among the likes of Wilhelm and his subordinates. A pity, really. They will face a wrothful emperor when their time comes."
- Neue-Ziel leaves for the Lighter Bay.
- Lucrezia "I meant more for your fellow preachers. And if we do a good job, that seems to be a long way off." She says, lightly touching the base of the statue of the Emperor.
- Caerwyn_Beraht lightly lays his hand upon hers, sighing deeply. "I did not expect being aboard a vessel such as this to be a facile experience but sometimes the things I must put up with are maddening. 'A long way off'? I think never. But right now that's the least of my worries. Tao Xen...she troubles me. I apologize for the fever that seems to have overtaken her." Caerwyn spies a smudge on
- Caerwyn_Beraht the shrine, and quickly rubs it away with the cuff os his robe sleeve. "I fear I can no longer even exercise slight control over her."
- RosenkrantzGM You can hear the echoing of several regimented steps walking in unison approach.
- Lucrezia "Oh, I think we both overacted back there... Still need to speak to her about it. Maybe you never ha-" She turns at the sound of incoming steps.
- Caerwyn_Beraht whips around. "Who goes there?"
- RosenkrantzGM Just past the entrance, Lord Heinrich makes his way inside, while signaling the uniformed Guard to wait outside.
- RosenkrantzGM He slowly moves forward, and takes a seat in one of the pews.
- Lucrezia smiles at Lord Heinrich but does not interrupt. She then leans and whispers to Caerwyn. "Maybe he seeks your guidance?"
- RosenkrantzGM The old man lowers his head, and begins a prayer.
- Caerwyn_Beraht nods slightly, and walks over to the older man. He takes out his censer and begins to swing it gently, hovering over the praying man. "Mea frater, the God-Emperor welcomes you into his House."
- RosenkrantzGM He raises his head, and looks up at you, and nods, "Thank you, Lord Confessor. I have come here to find solace in Him."
- Caerwyn_Beraht "What troubles, your lordship?" Caerwyn approaches closer, placing a hand on the man's shoulder. "Anything that I might rectify?"
- RosenkrantzGM Lord Heinrich slowly shakes his head. "Matters that cannot be influenced so far from home..."
- Lucrezia sits on a nearby pew.
- Caerwyn_Beraht "Then I would advise paying them no heed. All impotent frustration can do is poison your thoughts, and twist the things you do control. And, perhaps, things are not nearly as dire as you believe them to be, whatever they are?"
- RosenkrantzGM "My Matilde... she has fallen ill. Though I have reason to suspect this is no natural ailment... Calixian politics are a ruthless game, young Caerwyn."
- Caerwyn_Beraht gasps. "Imperator omenid auertantium...! Surely the arbites or local enforces have apprehended the culprit of such a dastardly deed?"
- Lucrezia stands and looks at the pair after hearing Caerwyn's reaction.
- Lucrezia approaches slowly, pretending to be heading for the exit.
- Caerwyn_Beraht "God Emperor willing, she'll recover in due time. Perhaps, if given some details as to her condition, I could come up with a solution."
- RosenkrantzGM "She has some of the brightest medical minds attending to her, and yet the malice of the attack consumes my soul with rage and empty impotence..."
- Lucrezia "Do forgive me for stepping in but... my lord, if you can't do much here. Focus on what you can do. Or at least wait for Lord Wilhelm to return and request a return home?"
- RosenkrantzGM "I fear for what such a self-serving request would bring... leaving his side. My work is far from finished," he looks up at Lucrezia "as you know. His position is still a frail one, and his inexperience necessitates counsel."
- RosenkrantzGM "I fear for the consequences, and yet I cannot trust that I will not make such a request. It is why I ask the Emperor for strength."
- Lucrezia "I'm sure we can keep him out of trouble for a month or two, Lord Heinrich."
- Caerwyn_Beraht sighs and scratches his chin, ruminating. "If this a matter of family, I'm sure Lord Wilhelm will be amenable to such a request. Especially considering this tragedy was, in all probability, an act of malice against the rosenkrantz dynasty."
- RosenkrantzGM "No doubt he will honor my request... my concerns are for the consequences of leaving his side. Though knowing he has you by his side, I know he isn't alone."
- Caerwyn_Beraht turns a little red, trying to chuckle away the awkwardness. "Ah...well, no one is never truly alone; the God-Emperor is by our side always. But I appreciate the sentiment, Lord Heinrich. I hope I can keep the man on the path of righteouness, despite his recalcitrance."
- RosenkrantzGM He nods, "I thank you both, truly."
- RosenkrantzGM He bows his head once more, closes his eyes, and begins to mutter another prayer.
- Lucrezia nods and smiles.
- Caerwyn_Beraht shoots a troubled look to Lucrezia, at a loss for words over the exchange that just occured.
- Lucrezia looks back at Caerwyn and shrugs a little.
- Lucrezia "Anyways... I believe we might be needed planetside. Will you be alright, Lord Heinrich? If you need anything, we are at your service."
- RosenkrantzGM Heinrich simply nods, his eyes remain shut, and his prayer uninterrupted.
- Lucrezia straightens her uniform. "Caerwyn, will you join me on the way planetside?"
- Caerwyn_Beraht smiles and nods vigoursly. "Of course, Lucrezia. lead the way."
- Lucrezia tries to grab Ziel on the way to the lander bay.
- Neue-Ziel working in sync with his fellow Tech-priests.
- Lucrezia opens the door to the workroom if she is allowed and starts coughing as all the exhaust fumes hit her.
- RosenkrantzGM Loud noises echo throughout the bay as drills, heavy lifters, and other machinery is put to work on a full-scale maintenance and repair operation on the landers.
- Lucrezia "Ziel! Are you in here?" She asks, competing with the machines all around her.
- Neue-Ziel [Binary] "From the weakness of the mind, Omnissiah save us!"
- Caerwyn_Beraht slinks behind her, his hacking coughs echoing throughout the hold as the fumes enter his lungs. "Oh God-Emperor, that barbaric tech babble..."
- Neue-Ziel "From the ravages of the Xenos, Emperor protect us!"
- Neue-Ziel "From Blood to oil. From Flesh to Metal. Set the Machine Spirit free!"
- Lucrezia coughs once more as she gives up. +Ziel! We are heading planetside! Do you want to head down too?+
- Neue-Ziel [Techna-lingua] "Kurma, continue the rituals. I must tend to our guests."
- Neue-Ziel approaches Lucrezia and escorts her outside the bay.
- RosenkrantzGM Kurma: [Techna-lingua] "Yes, Master Ziel."
- Neue-Ziel "Pardon?"
- Caerwyn_Beraht "Master Ziel," Caerwyn dips into a half hearted bow. "Lady Lucrezia and I were wondering if you would join us as we descend to the surface. I think you could use the fresh-" A fit of hacking coughs overtakes Caerwyn. "How do you live with this?!"
- RosenkrantzGM The temperature in the room rises as several more transports arrive from the lander recall; their overheated engines adding to the already strenuous atmosphere.
- Neue-Ziel "With fate in the Omnissiah and the Emperor."
- Caerwyn_Beraht "You bilious boffins are full of you-know-what."
- Neue-Ziel sighs and says "I will prepare the Lander for our departure. Give me a few moments."
- Neue-Ziel enters the landing bay.
- Caerwyn_Beraht raises his noise and contemptuously glares at this disciple of a near-heretical faith. For all their intelligence, they are still so lost in mattesr regarding faith.
- Neue-Ziel +Magos Enginarium Katherine, I trust this vessel in your care while I depart for Faith. Omnissianic Congregator Kurma, you will oversee the maintenance and rites in my place.+
- Neue-Ziel begins finishing the work on the Lander.
- Caerwyn_Beraht retreats and gathers his things, gearing up to go planetside quickly before returning to the landing bay.
- Lucrezia also grabs her geart before returning to the bay. "So, what's with all the landers?"
- Neue-Ziel commands his personal multitask servitor to get his equipment.
- RosenkrantzGM The servitor goes, and returns a few minutes later with the Enginseer's basic gear.
- Lucrezia checks her armor and weapons before getting in one of the departing landers.
- Neue-Ziel +Lander is repaired. I suggest you hurry in.+
- Lucrezia is already in the lander.
- Caerwyn_Beraht hurries aboard and seats himself next to Lucrezia
- Neue-Ziel secures his servitor and straps himself in the Lander.
- RosenkrantzGM You chose the wrong lander. Its overheated engines struggle to ignite in a safe manner. The fuel-infection rods fail catastrophically, and they explode in a ball of flame, which proves devastating to nearby landers and their maintenance crews. THANKS, OBAMA.
- RosenkrantzGM (redacted)
- Makh_Chomun "THANKS LORDS OF TERRA!"
- RosenkrantzGM The /Praeliator/, sensing danger from its tiny inhabitants, releases all atmosphere into the void, and locks the vitae life sustainer systems.
- RosenkrantzGM (also redacted)
- POVs:
- Neue-Ziel
- RosenkrantzGM In the lighter bay, several landers are being serviced.
- RosenkrantzGM "Master Ziel," the Bay's overseeing techpriest approaches you.
- Neue-Ziel "Greetings, brother."
- RosenkrantzGM "As you know, the atmospheric conditions of the planet are not ideal... the lord-captain is overworking the lander-craft, and their machine spirits are not at peace."
- Neue-Ziel "What is our Lord-Captain transporting? Why this frequent?"
- RosenkrantzGM "His... 'Erwinfall' outpost. We do not have many landers, and the supplies are many. They are several runs every couple of hours."
- RosenkrantzGM "The journeys are punishing."
- Neue-Ziel "Gather Omnissianic Congregator Kurma and his disciplines. We need to ease the machine spirits and perform the cleansing rituals."
- RosenkrantzGM "Master Ziel... we cannot meet the demands of the Lord-Captain. Not at this rate."
- Neue-Ziel "How many landers are activate?"
- RosenkrantzGM "Twelve on active runs."
- Neue-Ziel "Return half for maintenance and rites of Commission. Reduce the rate of transport of the other half."
- Neue-Ziel "Once the machine spirit is eased, send them out. We will regularly perform the rites and rituals for each spirits until our Lord-Captain's needs are satisfied."
- RosenkrantzGM "Of course, Master."
- RosenkrantzGM "Though..."
- Neue-Ziel "Yes?"
- RosenkrantzGM "Could I ask you to be the one to inform the Lord-Captain?"
- Neue-Ziel "I will my brother. However, I'm going to need a voidsuit ready."
- RosenkrantzGM He makes the sign of the Omnissiah, locking his fingers. "The Omnissiah be with you, Master Ziel."
- Neue-Ziel makes the sign of the Omnissiah and says "Omnissiah's blessing to you too."
- Neue-Ziel +Master of Etherics Olga. This is Enginseer Prime Ziel, report.+
- RosenkrantzGM +Master Ziel, all systems reporting Green+
- Neue-Ziel +Excellent, I require direct communication with Lord-Captain Wilhelm and his team on Faith.+
- RosenkrantzGM +I will attempt to patch you through+
- Neue-Ziel +Yes.+
- RosenkrantzGM +Master Ziel, we are patching you through to Lord Chomun.+
- Neue-Ziel +Understood.+
- Neue-Ziel +Chomun, I have news for Lord-Captain Wilhelm.+
- RosenkrantzGM Makh_Chomun +Illuminate me then, m'lord wishes me to relay it to him+
- Neue-Ziel +Very well. We have recalled half of the transport Landers and reduced departure times for the remaining ones. They require regular maintenance and rites. Otherwise, the machine spirits are overworked and will become furious.+
- RosenkrantzGM Makh_Chomun +And what does that mean for us, then?+
- Neue-Ziel +There will be reduced supplies and an irregular delivery schedule.+
- RosenkrantzGM Makh_Chomun +Wilhelm is not going to like that, Ziel.+
- Neue-Ziel +I'm well aware. The Lord-Captain will be merciful towards his new minor lord. As for me... well remember when I had to live in the Aquila for about two weeks?+
- RosenkrantzGM "We are recalling the landers now, Master Ziel."
- Neue-Ziel "Excellent, get Omnissianic Congregator Kurma and his disciplines here immediately."
- RosenkrantzGM "Of course, Master Ziel."
- Neue-Ziel binary commands the servitors on the Landing Bay to prepare the rituals and rites.
- RosenkrantzGM Slowly, the bay is filled with the landers recalled from their planetary runs.
- Neue-Ziel joins his brothers of mars, working and praying in sync.
