 Express Yourself with Display Names
Now there’s a whole new way to express your identity on Roblox—with Display Names! These work a little differently from your username:
Usernames are unique to your account and are prefixed with an “@,” so that you can always uniquely identify someone. If your username is @CoolCat43122, you’re the only @CoolCat43122 around. Usernames are used to log in and to help find specific people on the platform.
Display Names are not unique and are free to change every seven days. They appear in places such as your profile, chat, search, people lists, or over your avatar’s head whenever you visit an experience. If you choose not to set a Display Name, you’ll default to your username.
Display Name Set-Up
To change your Display Name:

  Go to your Account Info.
  Find “Display Name” and click the edit icon.
  Change your Display Name and hit “Save.”
  Tada! You have your new Display Name.

Well, almost. There are a few requirements your Display Name has to meet before it’s good to go. Your Display Name:

  Needs to pass our text filter to ensure it meets our Community Rules.
  Can’t match usernames belonging to high-profile users.
  Must be between 3-21 characters.
  Should only include letters, numbers, and underscores.
  Can only be changed every seven days.

Display names are a Roblox feature announced on the Developer Forum on February 9, 2021, and released worldwide on June 8, 2021. [1]
The feature is similar to Twitter's display names, where on the user's profile, their display name shows up. Then, under it, a handle with their username. Display names can be changed once every weeks. [2] . Players do not have to pay a fee when editing their display name and can share the same display name as others, with the exception of famous YouTubers and administrators.

Releases
The feature was first released on February 18, 2021, for one hour in Germany to test the feature to a relatively small audience. Players outside of Germany could have used a virtual private network to access the update. During this release, some players created display names containing inappropriate phrases or symbols. As a result, all accounts with these display names were terminated.
It was re-released on April 14, 2021, for over a day in Germany. Like the previous Germany release, players outside of Germany could have used a virtual private network to access the update.
Finally, on June 8, 2021, it was released worldwide.

Display names replace the player's username on the leaderboard, username above the player's head, and usernames in the chat in experiences that have display names enabled. The leaderboard shows the player's display name and handle.
Criticism
Many users have criticized display names for making it easier to impersonate other players. Sometimes, games only show their normal username instead of the display name. In an effort to prevent impersonation, usernames of some famous YouTubers and administrators were censored in the May release of the update. However, display names created before this update remain unaffected.
Moderation
Sometimes, if a user gets a ban or a warning, the display name of their account will be reset to their username, even if the reason for the ban or warning is unrelated to the display name. However, this does not always happen.

Screen Name Generator
This screen name generator works by listing adjectives and you adding names/words to the end (append) or at the start (prepend) of the adjective. I found this a very effective way to generate cool screen names because you can choose names/words that describe yourself and then generate adjectives until you get the perfect adjective to describe the name/word you have choosen. For example you could append your name to this generator and generate names like MellowMike or MagnificentMike if your name is Mike. You could also prepend titles to the generator as well, such as mr, mrs, miss etc. Another great way to generate screen names is to use names of jobs, for example, if you're an artist, type the word artist in the append name box, then generate names. It will come up with names like CrazyArtist or IndustriousArtist. You can take this one step further and prepend words like 'The' and generate screen names like TheCrazyArtist or TheFreshArtist.
