Object question
*Who and What can be the object. An auxiliary verb (eg. did, will, can, do…) comes before the subject.
Ex:
1. What are you looking for?- We are looking for our keys
What is an object in the question and the answer is our keys
2. Who did Jack telephone?- He telephoned Melanie.
Who is an object in the question and the answer is Melanie.
Form: Who or What + auxiliary Verb+ Subject+ Verb ?

Subject question
*Who and What can be the subject of a question. The word order is the same as in a statement.
1. Who telephoned Melanie? Jack telephoned Melanie.
Who is an subject in the question and the answer is Jack.
2. What happened last night? – The fire was in the kitchen.
What is an subject in the question and the answer is the fire.
