  1. Session Start: Mon Feb 11 15:05:20 2013
  2. Session Ident: vanishingPoint
  3. * Now pestering openSystem
  4. [03:05] <@vanishingPoint> Hey there!
  5. [03:06] <openSystem> Heya.
  6. [03:06] <@vanishingPoint> [No freaking out, thats a good start.]
  7. [03:07] <@vanishingPoint> I'm Emmara, looks like we're going to be coplayers. And judging by your lack of freaking out, you've done this song and dance before!
  8. [03:08] <openSystem> Nice to meet you Emmara, the name's Bash. And yeah, just a few. This should be session eight.
  9. [03:08] <@vanishingPoint> Ooooh a veteran! Excellent
  10. [03:09] <openSystem> And you?
  11. [03:09] <@vanishingPoint> I think its nineteen
  12. [03:09] <@vanishingPoint> I may have misplaced one
  13. [03:09] <openSystem> [Hot Damn.]
  14. [03:09] <@vanishingPoint> Lets just go with "Enough", hmm? :D
  15. [03:10] <openSystem> Heh, one is "Enough" for most people.
  16. [03:10] <@vanishingPoint> Aha
  17. [03:10] <@vanishingPoint> Also, I'm totally going to conscript you if we get a newbie
  18. [03:10] <@vanishingPoint> Finally don't have to explain it all myself
  19. [03:10] <openSystem> Second's the hardest, if memory serves.
  20. [03:10] <@vanishingPoint> Yeah
  21. [03:10] <openSystem> Oh god, I will do so willingly
  22. [03:11] <@vanishingPoint> I like you already
  23. [03:11] <@vanishingPoint> Got a third sessioner, Coraline already in the pre-session. I'm guessing she's getting Fate, but maybe Might or Flow.
  24. [03:11] <@vanishingPoint> Just judging from the conversation I had with her
  25. [03:12] <openSystem> That's... cloudedVeil, then?
  26. [03:12] <@vanishingPoint> Yeah
  27. [03:12] <@vanishingPoint> Stuck in some lumber town
  28. [03:13] <openSystem> Not a terrible pre-session.
  29. [03:13] <@vanishingPoint> Nah, its Earth, and nothing too unsimilar to what I had growing up
  30. [03:13] <@vanishingPoint> Alternia is terribly
  31. [03:13] <@vanishingPoint> terrible even
  32. [03:14] <@vanishingPoint> 0/10 wouldn't recommend
  33. [03:14] <openSystem> Well, that whole "being an alien on someone else's planet" thing
  34. [03:14] <openSystem> kinda shitty
  35. [03:14] <@vanishingPoint> Also 0/10
  36. [03:14] <@vanishingPoint> Actually, no thats not always true
  37. [03:15] <openSystem> I think the worst alternia experience I had was having those drone things come around
  38. [03:15] <@vanishingPoint> Story for another time though
  39. [03:15] <@vanishingPoint> Oh god
  40. [03:15] <openSystem> and then that was the only thing I had to prototype
  41. [03:15] <@vanishingPoint> It was my second time on Alternia, and the matesprit of the troll I replaced was trying to get me around
  42. [03:15] <@vanishingPoint> and /I/ was trying to lay low
  43. [03:16] <@vanishingPoint> Fucking drones man
  44. [03:16] <openSystem> I had a troll in that session who hated my guts because of that
  45. [03:16] <@vanishingPoint> Yeah, wouldn't blame him much for that
  46. [03:17] <@vanishingPoint> Session meetings aren't going to be a problem I take it?
  47. [03:17] <openSystem> 's long as we can get everyone else, shouldn't be.
  48. [03:17] <@vanishingPoint> Coraline's already said she'll come, but doesn't really want visitors otherwise
  49. [03:18] <@vanishingPoint> Not sure how many more we're waiting on
  50. [03:18] <openSystem> Who knows?
  51. [03:19] * @vanishingPoint shrugs
  52. [03:19] <@vanishingPoint> They'll get here when they do
  53. [03:19] <@vanishingPoint> So what was your first?
  54. [03:19] <openSystem> Mage of Mind.
  55. [03:19] <@vanishingPoint> Ooh, rough
  56. [03:19] <openSystem> Went marginally well, for not having a clue what I was doing.
  57. [03:20] <@vanishingPoint> Still, Climbs not fun
  58. [03:20] <@vanishingPoint> Muse of Life for me
  59. [03:20] <openSystem> Yeah, I'll say
  60. [03:20] <openSystem> Two of the damn things so far
  61. [03:21] <@vanishingPoint> If you want "fun", try Waste of Mind
  62. [03:21] <openSystem> Grace, actually.
  63. [03:21] <@vanishingPoint> Oh, you've lived through a Cataclysm then?
  64. [03:22] <@vanishingPoint> [Now you're actually impressed if thats the case.]
  65. [03:23] <openSystem> Last session, actually. [You are not freaking out about the whole thing again nope nope]
  66. [03:23] <@vanishingPoint> Oh, damn
  67. [03:23] <openSystem> Ten bucks on Muse or Smith this session.
  68. [03:24] <@vanishingPoint> Hah, you'd know better than I would, so I am not going to take that bet
  69. [03:25] <@vanishingPoint> And if you want a hug or someone to talk to, just let me know. Shits better nipped in the bud
  70. [03:25] <openSystem> True, true. I mean, dollars won't mean anything in the medium anyway, so...
  71. [03:25] <openSystem> I'll keep that in Mind
  72. [03:25] <@vanishingPoint> Hey
  73. [03:26] <@vanishingPoint> You can always alchemize it and go swimming in money a la' Scrooge McDuck
  74. [03:26] <openSystem> had a coins player who tried that once
  75. [03:26] <@vanishingPoint> How'd that end up going?
  76. [03:26] <openSystem> Apparently not as cool as Scrooge made it look.
  77. [03:27] <@vanishingPoint> hah
  78. [03:27] <@vanishingPoint> Also
  79. [03:27] <@vanishingPoint> Any allergies?
  80. [03:28] <openSystem> Not that I'm aware of.
  81. [03:28] <@vanishingPoint> Awesome
  82. [03:29] <@vanishingPoint> Might have to eat outta cans for the first bit, but I've got plants and enough soil and fertalizer so we can actually eat decently
  83. [03:30] <@vanishingPoint> If you try and get away from it I will beat you up and make you sit there until you eat your veggies.
  84. [03:31] <openSystem> I got a bit lucky. I've got like, a chicken coop and a decent garden in the back.
  85. [03:31] <@vanishingPoint> Oooo
  86. [03:31] <@vanishingPoint> Hopefully the chickens survive, constant eggs'll be nice
  87. [03:31] <openSystem> So far my omelets are around 1/5 stars
  88. [03:31] <@vanishingPoint> Hah
  89. [03:32] <@vanishingPoint> Don't feel too bad, most peopel don't even bother trying
  90. [03:32] <openSystem> Yeah, but when it's going to be your food source for god knows, it's important
  91. [03:33] <@vanishingPoint> Most end up living off the Crystalanthememus
  92. [03:33] <@vanishingPoint> Light has no nutrients though, and they wonder why they don't feel so good
  93. [03:33] <openSystem> also it doesn't beat a well made meal.
  94. [03:33] <@vanishingPoint> Course not
  95. [03:35] <@vanishingPoint> You're human, I take it?
  96. [03:35] <openSystem> More or less.
  97. [03:35] <@vanishingPoint> Oh?
  98. [03:36] <@vanishingPoint> Whats the "more or less" of it?
  99. [03:36] <openSystem> As I found out in my second session, living in a laboratory and having biotech built into you isn't really normal for Earth.
  100. [03:37] <@vanishingPoint> No way
  101. [03:37] <@vanishingPoint> You're all Sci-fi!
  102. [03:37] <openSystem> That's one way of putting it, I guess?
  103. [03:37] <@vanishingPoint> Coooool
  104. [03:37] <@vanishingPoint> Thats a first, even for me
  105. [03:38] <openSystem> I'm pretty sure the AI that was supposed to be part of me was gonna be a combat-assistant or something, but I kind of broke it when I was a kid
  106. [03:38] <@vanishingPoint> So what does your "Biotech" do?
  107. [03:38] <openSystem> Turns out, teaching the kid with the AI in his head how to program means he reprograms it.
  108. [03:39] <openSystem> As far as /do/...
  109. [03:40] <openSystem> mostly it lets Beta monitor my vitals, control hormones, and interact with my brain
  110. [03:40] <openSystem> also maybe something to do with altering my muscles, but to be honest neither Beta or I have any clue if that's a thing it does
  111. [03:40] <@vanishingPoint> Beta is your...?
  112. [03:40] <@vanishingPoint> AI?
  113. [03:41] <openSystem> Oh, yeah, I guess that'd make more sense to say first. Yeah, Beta's the AI. He's got his own chumhandle, but he can't really connect to anything outside my head, so...
  114. [03:41] <@vanishingPoint> Daaaang
  115. [03:42] <openSystem> All in all, Beta probably keeps me alive more than I myself do, heh.
  116. [03:42] <@vanishingPoint> Hey, if it keeps you alive for another day?
  117. [03:44] <openSystem> Anything that keeps us going is a good thing.
  118. [03:44] <@vanishingPoint> Pretty much
  119. [03:44] <openSystem> Oh, what've we got to work with weaponry-wise?
  120. [03:45] <@vanishingPoint> Got my trusty walking/poking stick. Some Lacrosse equipment and a variety of guns, swords and daggers for my Dualkind.
  121. [03:45] <openSystem> Ah yes, the mighty poking stick.
  122. [03:46] <@vanishingPoint> Also functions as a whacking stick, despite the specibus name
  123. [03:47] <@vanishingPoint> You?
  124. [03:47] <openSystem> Lesse, on my end we've got ourselves one (1) ~ATH Manual for bookKind, a shitton (~) of thermite dust for powderKind (Flow was kind to me), and a length of chain for chainKind.
  125. [03:47] <@vanishingPoint> Not too shabby
  126. [03:48] <openSystem> I try
  127. [03:48] * openSystem bows
  128. [03:50] <@vanishingPoint> So what do you do for fun when everythings taking a break from trying to kill you?
  129. [03:51] <openSystem> Lesse, most of the time program things in ~ATH
  130. [03:51] <openSystem> either that or garden
  131. [03:52] <openSystem> I have at least learned how not to kill all my plants
  132. [03:53] <@vanishingPoint> Good first step
  133. [03:53] <@vanishingPoint> Can show you how to actually get decent stuff from them if you want!
  134. [03:53] <openSystem> admittedly, trying to learn to garden while Flow was a poor choice.
  135. [03:54] <@vanishingPoint> [Fuck it, veteran player who doesn't seem completely insane? Spending time with them seems like a good idea.]
  136. [03:55] <@vanishingPoint> Probably not, no
  137. [03:55] <openSystem> [Okay, okay, you're calm now. This person actually knows things, and talking to them is enjoyable.]
  138. [03:55] <@vanishingPoint> Thank Skaia I've never had that
  139. [03:56] <openSystem> Oh, Flow was a blast
  140. [03:56] <@vanishingPoint> Sure, if you don't mind burning up everything
  141. [03:56] <openSystem> Well, I had a lava based land anyway, so/
  142. [03:57] <@vanishingPoint> Fun times
  143. [03:57] <openSystem> Nobody wanted to quest with me :[
  144. [03:58] <@vanishingPoint> /No/!? I can't imagine why!
  145. [03:59] <openSystem> It's like it was /hot/ or something! (It didn't help that I was Maid. I think the total number of times I got slapped for the pun was around... Beta says 256.)
  146. [04:00] <@vanishingPoint> Lava? Hot? Perish the thought
  147. [04:00] <@vanishingPoint> Soon you'll say that water is wet, or ice cold
  148. [04:01] <openSystem> It certainly would be strange, wouldn't it?
  149. [04:01] <@vanishingPoint> Completely unreasonable
  150. [04:03] <openSystem> A shame.
  151. [04:04] <@vanishingPoint> Also, whats your favourite drink? The guy I replaced had a shit ton of money stashed away in a safe
  152. [04:04] <@vanishingPoint> Already got everything that the fridge, freezer and my sylladex can hold. Might as well start grabbing stuff that doesn't need to go anywhere special
  153. [04:05] <openSystem> Ooh, mead's usually what I go for. [Bash. Bash no.]
  154. [04:05] <@vanishingPoint> Mead huh?
  155. [04:06] <@vanishingPoint> Alright, sure I'll see what I can find
  156. [04:06] <@vanishingPoint> Never actually had mead before
  157. [04:07] <openSystem> It's pretty good, 's far as I'm concerned.
  158. [04:09] <openSystem> ...y'know, I'm gonna ask before we get into session and I've assumed one way or the other, but what's your gender of choice? (Dumb ass male, reporting for duty)
  159. [04:09] <@vanishingPoint> Female, thanks for asking.
  160. [04:10] <@vanishingPoint> Nice to meet you dumb ass Sci-fi male!
  161. [04:12] <openSystem> No, I just had someone go a whole session referring to me as female because they just assumed everyone else in the session was.a girl after talking to everyone but me.
  162. [04:12] <@vanishingPoint> Hah
  163. [04:13] <openSystem> Admittedly, wearing robes did not help
  164. [04:13] <openSystem> The robes were so cool tho
  165. [04:13] <@vanishingPoint> Sci-fi wizard!
  166. [04:13] <@vanishingPoint> Lets keep mashing these genres together
  167. [04:13] <@vanishingPoint> (Or is it a Sci-fi priest)
  168. [04:14] <openSystem> (Well, I was priest that session, so...?)
  169. [04:14] <openSystem> I'll go with "yes"
  170. [04:15] <@vanishingPoint> Awesome
  171. [04:15] <@vanishingPoint> You better not be pulling my leg about this stuff
  172. [04:15] <openSystem> Nah, just wait, I've got this crystally stuff on the side of my head that I can-
  173. [04:15] <openSystem> wait I have a camera
  174. [04:16] <@vanishingPoint> Selfie time, huh?
  175. [04:16] <openSystem> (you'd never know I have an AI in my brain)
  176. [04:16] <@vanishingPoint> (Only as smart as the user, right?)
  177. [04:18] * openSystem sends vanishingPoint file "CrystalClear.png" ((A simple picture of Bash, same goofy smile and blond hair as always, complete with a hexagonally-tiled crystal structure going down the right side of his face. or left, since fucking webcams flip the image sometimes))
  178. [04:18] * @vanishingPoint accepts the file
  179. [04:18] <@vanishingPoint> Pretty cool there Sci-fi
  180. [04:19] <openSystem> Not even in the session yet, already have a nickname.
  181. [04:20] <openSystem> Truly a glorious day.
  182. [04:22] * @vanishingPoint sends openSystem the file "Emmara.png" ((Waist up picture of Emmara standing away from the desk where presumably the computer's stationed. She has bright red hair in a pony tail and pale green eyes. She's apparently middling in height with a stocky build. The arm she's waving at the computer with is stained brown along with her hand and part of her face.))
  183. [04:22] * openSystem accepts the file
  184. [04:23] <openSystem> Lookin' good
  185. [04:23] <@vanishingPoint> Thanks!
  186. [04:23] <@vanishingPoint> And Sci-fi is an awesome nickname, don't know what you're complaining about. :D
  187. [04:23] <openSystem> Beep boop I am a robot, please enter parseable data
  188. [04:25] <@vanishingPoint> aha
  189. [04:25] <openSystem> it's cool, tho
  190. [04:25] <@vanishingPoint> Okay, good. Wasn't about to stop.
  191. [04:26] <openSystem> I mean, to be fair, "Bash" is sort of a nickname too
  192. [04:26] <@vanishingPoint> Oh?
  193. [04:27] <openSystem> The lab workers had a bad sense of humor. Of course, this means that so do I!
  194. [04:27] <@vanishingPoint> Pff
  195. [04:27] <@vanishingPoint> No such thing as a bad sense of humour
  196. [04:27] <openSystem> Well, I suppose you've got a point there.
  197. [04:28] <@vanishingPoint> Plus, can you imagine going through the Game completely serious?
  198. [04:28] <@vanishingPoint> You wouldn't last more than a session or two
  199. [04:28] <openSystem> Oh god no
  200. [04:28] <openSystem> That's how coplayers get killed
  201. [04:29] <@vanishingPoint> Yeah
  202. [04:29] <@vanishingPoint> So session meeting as soon as we've all got access to the second gate
  203. [04:31] <@vanishingPoint> Gonna find out if anyone lacks one :D
  204. [04:31] <openSystem> Whoever's place is the nicest?
  205. [04:31] <@vanishingPoint> Works for me
  206. [04:31] <@vanishingPoint> Oh shit my rides here
  207. [04:31] <openSystem> Oh, take care then
  208. [04:31] <@vanishingPoint> Got a ride down to Niagra. Going to explore the old power plant.
  209. [04:31] <openSystem> See ya 'round, Emmara.
  210. [04:32] <@vanishingPoint> You too Sci-fi.
  211. [04:32] <openSystem> [You scrunch your face. You will need to come up with a nickname in return.]
  212. [04:32] * @vanishingPoint has ceased pestering openSystem
  213. Session Close: Mon Feb 11 16:32:40 2013
