Rip and Hare

Prologue

Daisy

	You were cleaning up the dishes from last night's dinner with your friends. Your boy friend has been gone on Mars for the past year or so and he said he was coming back today. They celebrated him as a hero, which you knew he was all along. The UAC censors wouldn't let you know what was going on, but with a little bit of your charm, you'd be able to work anything out of your guy.

	You hear a knock on the door and smile brightly, walking over to it. It's him, it has to be him. When you almost hop your way over to the door, you see a man in UAC armor on the other side. He looked very worried. You open the door and hear just how bad it is outside.

“Ma'am! You need to come with me to the UAC safe house! Your husband is-”

	He's cut off by what sounds like a roar as he turns his rifle, firing it at something you couldn't yet see.

“JUST GET IN THE CAR!” He yells, firing his weapon off to your left.

	When you look around, the scene was total chaos. Balls of flesh flying around, breathing fireballs at everything that moved. Soldiers with flesh torn from their bodies, shooting humans and anthros alike. One of these soldiers sees you and growls, pointing his weapon at you as he grins. You hop up as he fires, dancing around as your feet carry you away from the crazed people.

	You feel something grab you as it lifts you off the ground. You look back and see a lumpy brown blob with a set of razor sharp teeth and a single eye staring back at you. It grins and lets go, letting you fall to the ground, which was very far below you by now. You scream in terror as you fall, absolutely sure you'd die when you hit the ground. When you slam into the concrete, you feel multiple bones shatter as you bounce, hitting the hard ground again with a crunch.

	The pain was unimaginable. You don't have the words to describe it, so you screamed instead. Screaming caused more pain, which made you scream even louder. You look down your street and see a massive red being stomping down the street, goat fur and hooves adorning its legs. You attempt to pull yourself back, but your arms didn't work and moving made the pain worse.

	The thing stomped down the street and you screamed in terror, catching its attention. It looks down at you and smiles, raising its hoof and cackling. The only thing in its eyes were evil and malice, disgusting amounts of both. Before it could bring its hoof down on you, it stumbled and missed your body, crushing your arm under its mighty weight.

	When you look to the side, you see a UAC Marine loading a double barrel shotgun and closing the barrels. He points the shotgun towards the thing and fires both barrels, blowing a chunk of its head off. The thing falls over, presumably dead as the Marine notices you. The abdomen was torn and there were scars all over his chest. Then, he removes his helmet and you recognize the blonde hair.

“B-babe?” You ask.

“Daisy?!” He asks, rushing to your side. “Oh my god, you're hurt!”

	You manage to smile a bit and he smiles back at you.

“N-no shit.” You reply, looking down at your body.

	You looked disgusting. Your bones had broken through your skin and were jutting out of your body. There was no question about it, you were going to die.

“Daisy, I'll get you to a hospital! Just hang in there!” He yells, going in to pick you up.

“No, stop.” You tell him. “You'll only make it worse.”

	He stops and just kneels next to you, thunder exploding around you.

“I-I hear thunder, is there a storm coming?” You ask.

“No, Daisy. There's no storm.” Your brave Marine tells you. “Everything is just fine.”

“I-I love you.” You tell him.

“I love you too.” He tells you, holding your unbroken hand in his own massive manly hands.

	He's never told you he loves you back before, guess you really were dying. It brings a smile to your face as you feel all energy leave your body. His eyes tear up as he watches you lose what little grip you had left on your life. When you go completely limp, you feel surprised.
You haven't lost your sight yet, which you hear is one of the first things to go.

	Your Marine wipes the tears from his eyes and you see something that you used to see all the time when he'd get angry. However, this time it was different. This wasn't madness or anger, this was rage. It scared you and amazed you at the same time. He took your head in his hand and pet your hair softly, which you'd probably tell him to stop doing if you were able to move at all.

“Daisy, I fought my way out of hell once. I'll do it again if it means I can save you. I'll bring you back if it's the last thing I do.” He says, rage barely contained.

	Your vision finally fades as you feel him drop your head. When it fades completely, you feel like you're falling. Not in the traditional sense, as you had no feeling left, but a sort of weightlessness. Then, you remember what the UAC soldier told you he was.

'Your husband.'

	Husband? HUSBAND?! You're gonna kill him!
