  1. In 4181 BBY, there was a faction of religious Caamasi named the Conclave of Arastu, whose worship was based around the meditation on, and reverence to the energy of all living beings known as Arastu, known to Jedi as the Force. During this era of prosperity for the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order, force-sensitive Caamasi were generally supposed to join the Jedi, so being a member of the Conclave was somewhat frowned upon. Such powers should be used and shared, to better people, than merely focused inwards, in contemplation. As such, it was in the year 4181 BBY, that the Conclave of Arastu boarded a colony ship, and headed out into the Outer Rim, to find a planet upon which to meditate upon the Arastu in peace. After decades of searching they found a planet strong in the Force (located in sector O20), which they then settled upon, and named after their leader, Nito.
  2.
  3. Upon Nito, the conclave’s priests, the Talkath, flourished, living a peaceful life of study and meditation for millenia. Hiding out on the edge of space, they found peace and serenity in the Arastu. While clashes, such as the Sith Wars disrupted the weave, they were content to be where they were, free from the conflicts of other systems. While the rages of war ravaged other worlds, the Nitosian people eked out a peaceful existence as monks and farmers.
  4.
  5. Over the milenia, the planet’s culture morphed and changed, slowly becoming less insular and slightly more technological, to the point that, in 43 BBY, the Gran smuggler Klathu, having done an emergency hyperdrive jump to avoid a savoury deal gone bad, came across the Caamasan colony via a space station’s hail, and was greeted as an friend. Not well equipped to deal with such irreputable characters, Klathu convinced the Nitosians that he was a wealthy trader at the head of a large trading company that specialized in mass cargo transit, who had come to establish trade with the colony. Glad for goods and information, Klathu became incredibly wealthy by smuggling relatively minor goods that the Nitosians lacked, in exchange for vast quantities kolto, known to the Nitosians as Bar’rara, derived from a lake on Nito.
  6.
  7. As a Outer Rim smuggler, Klathu knew little of the goings on in the heart of the galaxy, so, when Order 66 was enacted in 19 BBY, the force-sensitive faction began lengthy, 2 decade long discussion on what to make of this sudden shift. It was decided that a representative of the planet would go out, and find the only faction they were aware of that also studied Arastu, the Jedi of Ossus. The representative chosen was an inquisitive grandson of a major Talkath, named Joenn Zoerkuth.
  8.
  9. Joenn Zoerkuth was of lower noble caste, a bureaucrat by birth, and filled his role as a Talkath well. Ever curious, his connections with his grandmother, High Talkath Zoerkuth, led him to interact with Klathu fairly regularly, often enraptured by the gruff Gran’s often embellished stories of conflicts with Hutts and the like. Assuming his knowledge from these stories to be true, the Nitosian government decided he would be best suited to go on this journey. Striking a deal with the friendly Klathu, who had, by this point assembled a small crew of kolto tankers, he transported Joenn off planet, and into the galaxy at large.
  10.
  11. Several things shortly became clear: Klathu was not, as he claimed to be, a Trade Prince. He was instead a small-time smuggler, who had become rich off of the ignorance of the Nitosians. Klathu-branded space cruisers were not the norm, the galaxy across, and, in-fact, did not even reach out of the Outer Rim. Klathu brought him as far as Cotellier, and put him in touch with a freighter who was a personal friend, who would get him north along the Sanrafsix Corridor.
  12.
  13. It also became clear that the galaxy had changed in the last 4 millenia. The Great Republic that the Conclave had left had been replaced with a Galactic Empire, and no one knew where to find a Jedi. Ossus had long since become a charred husk, and his abilities, alongside his questions about Jedi, made him a target for Imperial Intelligence and the Inquisitorius. He had entered a galaxy at war, which the staunch pacifist was ill prepared to deal with.
  14.
  15. The freighter, a spice smuggler along the Sanrafsix Corridor, got the Talkath as far as Naboo, one of the most populated planets along the area, and left him in the space port, as the Uprising entered full swing.

  19. Joenn is a scared pencil pusher, on the run for questions he had thought would yield quick and easy answers. Very far out of his comfort zone of peaceful meditation, the Talkath is used to a life where everyone is doing there best to get along, and is finding himself in a galaxy where it’s everyone for themselves. His large knowledge base and keen eye for detail are most of what’s keeping him alive, but it’s in his peace with Arastu that he stays sane.
  20.
  21. Covered in soft brown fur, Joenn is very thin and lanky for a Caamasi, with large dark lavender eyerings, and a stout snout. Since leaving home, he has been filled with nervous energy, that only abates while meditating.
  22.
  23. Gear:
  24.
  25. Talkath Robes: A set of short-cropped dark blue robes made of a simple but hardy fabric. While toned down from his ceremonial garb, Joenn’s robes do have some designs upon the chest, most notably an elongated diamond shape on the front, in the same shade of purple as his snout and eye-rings. The robes are not overly loose or long, though they are layered over his jerkin and pair of short pants, so he should not be considered hindered by his robes.
  26.
  27. Nitosian Torbull Leather Jerkin: A tight-fitting leather vest, the jerkin is often worn by traveling Nitosians, as the durable leather provides a certain measure of warmth. Made from the thick hide of the Nitosian variant of the hardy Ukian Torbull, a common pack animal on Nito, Joenn’s jerkin has been embossed to match his simple robes, which he commonly wears over it. While not intended for warding off attacks, the leather will do in a pinch.
  28.
  29. Nitosian Personal Commlink: A small piece of tech, Joenn’s commlink is only minorly different than your average, commercially available personal commlink, being only slightly bulkier, not having had all the advancements in telecommunication technologies that the rest of the galaxy has had, over the last several thousand years. While initially tuned to a narrow band of frequencies used on Nito, Klathu has rewired it to accept all standard galactic frequencies.
  30.
  31. Klathu’s Old Datapad: With his recent influx of wealth from trading with the Nitosians, Klathu was more than willing to part with his old datapad. Roughly the size of a modern day tablet, the touch-screen device has seen its fair share of use, with it’s paint scratched up from several years of reckless use by the smuggler. Joenn primarily uses it to record journal entries, take notes on new species and technologies he comes across, and to access public networks where available.
  32.
  33. Nitosian Field and Medical Pack: A large leather backpack, with a number of large pouches and pockets. Filled with gear for Joenn’s journey, it includes older, but still serviceable versions of all items included in the Customized Medical Backpack and the Field Kit. Also included are a number of items that Klathu has given the Caamasi, such as a roll of Meshtape, a liquid cable dispenser, a pair of energy cells, and a cheap Energy Recharger.
  34.
  35. Bar’rara: A thin, blue liquid, Bar’rara is a form of Kolto, found originally in springs coming up from under a lake on Nito. Discovered 230 years after the Nitosians started their colony, the substance was found by a lost hunter named Bar’rara, who had been wounded by a large bird of prey, and fallen into the lake. She had woken up, her wounds miraculously healed, and brought the healing water back to be studied. By 43 BBY, a small industry had popped up around Lake Bar’rara, tapping into the source of the substance, a large cavern under the lake, likely formed by an ancient meteor impact. Knowing the relative value of the substance, the smuggler Klathu spent a fair amount investing the in Bar’rara harvesting process, having placed his own harvesting machinery on-planet by the time the game starts. Joenn left Nito with 6 hypo-sprays of Bar’rara, the effective Nitosian equivalent of a medical kit.
