She turned all of her senses to detecting attacks. She kept vigilance in order to be able to compete with anything from anywhere, hearing Toko’s screams from the sky, she lost her thread of concentration. When she looked up, she saw Toko being attacked by a black flock. Crows. Pecking with their beaks, clawing with their nails, Toko was screaming and running away. She could use her rainbows to scare them away, but she hesitated since she could hurt Toko as well. A figure dived straight into the gap in the flock, scooping up Toko and standing on the edge of the rooftop.

“When you face a ranged opponent, you put your Fairy inside your chest, and if they don’t use any ranged weapons, your Fairy escapes to the skies. Reasonable, but easy to read.”

Pukin looked down at Rain Pou as she held Toko. Rain Pou couldn’t see her expression thanks to the backlight, but the condition of her voice made her know that she was smiling. She was speaking slowly, perhaps because she’s considering Rain Pou’s understanding of English.

“You can control a flock of crows by controlling the leader of the herd. Simple, isn’t it?”
