  1. Guru Shared Hosting Review
  2. I have been meaning to post a review for ages, I currently am on Guru's standard Shared Hosting package with the email add-on for hosting 3 websites (2 wordpress and 1 simple machine forum) which is a twelve quid a month (After VAT is added).

  15. I downgraded from a VPS after shutting some sites at the end of their life meant I had very few websites left, it also meant I didn't have to bother with keeping the VPS OS and software maintained. I choose Guru as I have previously used them on and off for years (123Reseller.co.uk I think being the first) and the offering fitted my needs.

  17. My sites are nice and fast, its cPanel so all the standard cPanel gubbins apart from email which is held on a different server, R1Soft is accessed in cPanel although I haven't had to use it yet. The simple machines forum I noticed the biggest difference, it does have quite a few plugins installed and I cPanel's recent addition of being able to select which PHP version meant I didn't have to much of a headache going up php versions until I found what broke it (7.1 for me although it was just warnings for depreciated features). It does load very quickly and seems to work well with the service.

  19. So far the only downtime experienced was actually with the email platform, I went to log a ticket and it was already displaying down on their status page and within an hour it was back.
  20.
  21. I have the email add-on for an old email account which is heavily spammed, at first I was debating if it was worth paying £6 for the email account, but the Spam filter so far has actually been pretty solid only letting in 2 emails which I would consider to be spam (Even then they just contained a link).
  22. Kind Regards

  24. Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. Sounds like you are in good hands!
  25. Nice information. Yes, VPS can be overkill sometimes and does not always mean security/performance will be better than using Shared/Reseller. For example, if you have VPS with 2 CPUs, then that would be shared between all cPanel accounts on the VPS whereas with a Reseller you can use 2 CPUs per cPanel account with some providers (recommended).

  29. It is always refreshing to see happy clients praising their providers. Most would just be quiet being happy.
