  1. Welcome to a new semester of Video Game Tournament Club!
  2.
  3. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our table at Fall Activities Night. Apologies if you receive this same email twice, we want to make sure club info reaches both new and returning members. To continue receiving email updates as a club member, please register on Student Central.
  4.
  5. Here are our additional group links to stay up to date with our community of gaming communities:
  6. - VGTC Discord Server (used as our group messaging and playing games online together)
  7. - VGTC Facebook Group (for FB event pages of our tourneys and meetups, asks to verify a udel.edu email)
  8. - Public VGTC Facebook Page
  9.
  10. We will be having an interest meeting on Thursday 9/7 at 6:00pm in Trabant Theater. There we can go over VGTC semester plans in-person regarding tournaments, LAN sessions, and our collegiate teams. Our very major LAN party and collegiate team recruiting day will be on Sunday 9/10 at 12:00pm - 8:00pm (or until people leave). All casual and competitive players welcome, come out and meet other students who play the same games as you! This will also act as our "tryout" day for our esport teams looking to recruit. If you have your own PCs or consoles (especially for fighting games), please bring them as we only have four club Wii U's and five club Alienware Alpha desktops. This LAN will decide how we will run future LANs, so attend to show your interest for future bi-weekly LANs! If you are unable to attend or would prefer not to bring your desktop, we will still be in our discord playing games together.

  12. For a start, if you're interested in any of these Tespa Collegiate Series, sign up on the Tespa site under your udel.edu email. Other than Smash, collegiate matches are played online unless teams make it far enough into the live final rounds.

  14. Now for each game specifics:
  15.
  16. League of Legends
  17. We are an officially registered uLoL club, so stick around to help grow our UD League community! Outside our play sessions, our friends at the Microsoft in Christiana Mall host weekly LoL tourneys every Saturday at 3:00pm - 9:00pm in their store. More information can be found here, let me know if there's interest for carpooling to their weeklies. Our semester LoL tournament at UD is scheduled for early December. Competitive Players: our VGTC League team plans to compete in uLoL, CSL, and EGF series. Details for each will be announced soon, so be sure to attend our LAN/tryout day if you'd like to compete! For any specific questions, contact our League captain Ryan Kessler at rkessler@udel.edu or ask in our Discord.

  19. Overwatch
  20. We are building our Overwatch community for console, PC, casual, and competitive players. PC players: Tespa will be hosting both a competitive and casual collegiate series this semester. The schedule and prizing for both can be seen in the hyperlinks. A main roster of 8 players (including 2 subs) will be competing for scholarship prizing, matches are on Thursdays at 6:30pm starting September 28. For our other PC Overwatch players, we can signup as many teams as we want in the casual series to pay with other college players. If teams of 6-8 members play in at least eight of the weekly matches on Sunday nights starting October 1, teams are eligible for receiving a free Overwatch shirt by Tespa. Our semester Overwatch tourney at UD will announced soon. Console players: if there are enough players for your platform to make a team, we can have you compete in Battlefy tournaments for your platform. In addition, for you Xbox One players, the Microsoft store in Christiana Mall hosts weekly Overwatch Thursdays.
  21. If any of this interests you, be sure to show your interest at the interest meeting and LAN! Join our Discord to chat with other Overwatch players at UD! For any Tespa series questions, message our OW captain Lucas Scott at lscottud@udel.edu or ask DapperCoat in Discord.

  50. Fighting Games
  51. I'm personally aiming to start a fighting game community here at UD. Club-owned PS4's with fighting games are soon to come as well as meetups. I can keep anyone updated on local meetups and tourneys outside of UD that I'm traveling to. We're talking Street Fighter, Tekken, Injustice 2, Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs Capcom, Guilty Gear (me), BlazBlue, Skullgirls, UNiST, etc. We'll start with a Fighting Game LAN sometime this semester, and depending how well that goes we could potentially host more fighting game LANS or even tournaments. I will also be inviting fighting game communities from nearby states outside of Delaware as well as attend locals outside Delaware if anyone's interested in carpooling with me.
  52.
  53.
  54. Hope to see you at our interest meeting and first LAN so we can grow our UD gaming community! Feel free to ask me any questions at vmangs@udel.edu or Discord.
