- >"You obviously have trouble with offensive magic, so we'll try something else today."
- >Trixie pours some milk into the bowl of cereal in front of you.
- >She sits down on the other side of the table and begins to eat her toast.
- >It's early in the morning.
- >Almost time to start magic lessons.
- >You dig into your cereal.
- "I wanna learn how to fly. Is there a spell that can make me fly?"
- >Trixie glares over the paper she's reading.
- >"Don't be stupid. You have to master the basics. Do you want to break your skinny little neck when you crash?"
- "How about a teleport spell? I could do that one no problem!"
- >She goes back to her paper.
- >"Hush. Eat your breakfast. The sun has barely risen and you're already giving Trixie a headache."
- >You finish breakfast in silence, then get changed for practice.
- "Ready!"
- >Trixie rolls her eyes and straightens your cape.
- >"If you insist on wearing this silly thing, at least wear it right, human."
- >She huffs and licks her hoof, brushing over your spiky hair.
- >"And do something about this mess!"
- >You pull away and cover your head.
- "I can't! It's just like that... Maybe I can get a cool wizard hat like yours?"
- >She opens the front door and walks out.
- >"It's not a 'wizard hat'. And I can't afford to get you one. You'll probably just lose it like you did with that toy I bought you."
- >You run out after her.
- "I didn't lose it! I told you, Scootaloo broke it!"
- >It's a cloudy day.
- >The aftermath of last night's storm hangs around.
- >The ground is soggy and houses drip with rain.
- >You follow Trixie to your usual practice spot.
- >It's an open field with a few stumps in it.
- >"What will we practice today? Can I learn how to do a spirit bomb?"
- >Trixie takes off her hat and places it on a stump.
- >"I don't know what that is, so I'll assume it's something idiotic and made up. Today, Trixie will try to get enchantment magic through your thick little skull."
- >That sounds boring to you.
- >Enchantment magic is really boring.
- >Trixie spent the whole morning talking about it.
- >You haven't even cast one spell.
- >She keeps saying you have to understand the mechanics before trying it.
- >The two of you are back in the house, eating a lunch of sandwiches.
- "Maybe I should have a sword."
- >Trixie looks at you as though you have worms coming out of your ears.
- >"Where do you come up with all these silly thoughts?"
- "No, I mean, magic is easier if you have a tool or something, right? Like the unicorn's horn. You said something to uh... Channel the magic through makes magic more effective."
- >She rubs her head.
- >"Why in Equestria would I ever let you have a sword though?"
- >You shrug.
- "'Cause it's cool?"
- >She shakes her head, "Just eat your lunch. No swords. Carry a stick or something if you'd like, Trixie does not care."
- >After lunch, it's back to the field.
- >It's time to finally try a spell.
- >"Okay you, I want you to simply enchant this rope and make it move."
- >Trixie tosses a pile of rope in front of you.
- >"Just like Trixie told you. Focus."
- >This is stupid.
- >You take a deep breath, throwing your cape out behind you and raising your arms above your head.
- >"What are you doing?"
- >You smirk and look up at the sky.
- "I need a cool action pose to cast a spell. It will make it better, trust me."
- >Trixie rolls her eyes. "Whatever. Get on with it."
- >You don't need to do some dumb enchantment on some stupid rope.
- >This is going to be so much more cool.
- >You close your eyes and focus on all the energy around you.
- "Lend me your power..."
- >"What are you doing?! Do the enchantment spell! What are you doing?!"
- >You snap your eyes open and look up.
- >Above you, a small ball of fire is beginning to form.
- "More energy!"
- >The fireball swells to a larger size.
- >Trixie makes to stop you, but moves back when the fire makes a crackling noise.
- >"ANON, I'M SERIOUS! STOP THIS SPELL NOW!"
- >You smile and focus on your growing ball of fire.
- >It's not pure 'energy' like you wanted, but this works too.
- "Just watch! My special move!"
- >Now that the fireball is about the size of a car, you look ahead of you at an open patch of ground.
- "Now! SPIRIT BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMB!"
- >You make a throwing motion and the fireball rockets toward the ground.
- >Trixie tackles you hard and both of you crash to the ground behind a stump as the fireball hits the field.
- >The next few moments are a blur.
- >First, there's a huge explosion.
- >The sound is deafening and the light is too bright to keep your eyes open.
- >Then a force hits you, sending both you and Trixie flying and knocking the wind out of you.
- >You hit the ground again with an 'oof' and Trixie rolls beside you.
- >Once the madness is done, you get up with a groan and look to where the 'spirit bomb' hit.
- >You can tell your hair and eyebrows are a bit singed.
- >The impact spot is now a blackened smoking crater and some of the grass around it is burning.
- "Holy cra-"
- >Trixie's hoof strikes the back of your head.
- "OW! Hey! What are you-"
- >She gets in your face.
- >Oh, she's mad.
- >Her mane is a little singed and there's black ash and dirt on her face.
- >"Home. Now. Right now. Wait."
- >This is the most angry you have ever seen her.
- >She's not even yelling, but her eye is twitching.
- >Without a word, you run back home while she cleans up the mess you made.
- "That was really awesome."
- >You're worried about how bad Trixie will punish you, but you don't think you'll ever forget that moment.
- >Your heart is still racing as you sit on your bed and wait for Trixie.
- >Finally, she walks into your room.
- "Trixie, I'm sorry I-"
- >"Grounded."
- >She appears to have a calm face.
- >But there is simmering rage in her tone.
- >It's worse than her yelling.
- >"You're grounded. For two weeks. You will not do ANY magic, you will do extra chores every day and you will stay in your room when not cleaning, do you understand?"
- >You look down.
- "Okay..."
- >"And you will study whenever you're not doing chores or eating."
- >You stand up.
- "No! That's not fair!"
- >Trixie's nostrils flare. "Are you disobeying me? Again?"
- >You sit down and huff.
- "No ma'am..."
- >"Good. Then you can start on cleaning the bathroom after you take a bath."
- >This is the worst.
- >Trixie leads you to the bathroom and makes you sit on a stool in front of the mirror while she trims your singed hair and scrubs your face.
- >As she rubs a wet cloth roughly on your cheek, she sighs.
- >"That was the stupidest thing Trixie has ever seen. You're lucky you're not in the hospital right now."
- >She finishes cleaning your face, then goes back to trying to tame your hair.
- >"But... I'm impressed. That was quite a show of magical force."
- >You smile at her and she looks away with a frown and a slightly reddened face.
- >"Don't ever try it again though. I mean it, Anon."
- >You wrap your arms around her and hug her close.
- "I'm sorry. I know it was stupid. I'll study hard and I won't disobey you anymore."
- >Trixie lets you hug her a bit while she stares at the wall with a flushed face.
- >"Okay, okay. That's enough. Get in the bath, you."
- >She leaves the bathroom.
- >Though she's stomping angrily,
- >You can see her smiling a little.
