- I began to take a walk outside in some desperate attempt to clear my head, the cold winter night biting at my fingers and face.
- The soft snow crunches at my feet as I take each step, echoing in the lonesome silence of the dark.
- I wandered far from home. As far as I could from any sign of civilization or social contact, just so nobody would see me in this state.
- Taking heavy breaths, I sat down, the ground cold and wet from the blanket of snow that covered it. I barely felt anything at that point.
- Reluctantly, I looked up at the stars.
- In the sky, I saw some of the most beautiful displays of stars, all shining with a fierce intensity that blanketed the darkness with its elegance.
- I sat motionless as those stars continued westward.
- Those stars were my friends. People I knew.
- People who had monumental achievements, overcame great obstacles, and could be seen by anyone with the slightest desire of looking up at them.
- All of those stars, being people I knew...
- If only I could join them. If only I knew how it felt to be something like those people. How it felt to fly high and be known for something monumental like that.
- I don't think I'd ever get that chance. Not now, not ever.
- I stood up. I tried to reach my hand to the sky, in a vain attempt to grab something. To see if I could get myself up there. To see if I'd ever get that feeling that I saw others get before me.
- Nothing.
- So I just stood there. Watching as the others flew up above. Watching them go as I remained stagnant on the earth. Unmoving, unchanging.
- I wish I had something more to myself.
