  1. Plot: Mr. Dark has reappeared, and has shattered the Great Protoon into many pieces, taking the core of it for himself. With the Bubble Dreamer holding the world together in the meantime, Rayman and his friends must find the missing pieces and defeat Mr. Dark. But strange darkness has been spreading through the world, much different than the other nightmares...
  2.
  3. Characters: Characters fit into four different archetypes: Limbless, Glute, King Teensy, and Wizard Teensy. There are four characters per world, each fitting into the different archetypes. Limbless and Glute characters must be unlocked via special quests found in each hub world, while the Teensies must be unlocked by saving all the Electoons and Teensies in each level. Limbless, Glutes, and Wizards Teensies match up to the Rayman, Globox, and Teensy animation sets from Origins/Legends, but all King Teensies now have new animations involving a staff.
  4.
  5. Collectibles: Each world has both Teensies and Electoons to save, each acting similarly to their appearances in Origins and Legends. Electoons can be found in secret areas, usually protected by enemies, and mark the end point of each level. Electoons can also be freed by collecting enough Lums in each level, saving the three Teensies in each level, or by completing quests in the hub worlds. Teensies are limited to three (Two normal Teensies, and then either a King or Queen), and are hidden in each level organically. As Teensies are saved, they will appear in the hub levels in order to give out quests, or just for extra dialog. Collecting Electoons will allow them to break dark barriers between the worlds, allowing you to move on. Teensies, however, will unlock pathways through the hub world in order to get to each level. Lum Medals can also be collected by collecting enough Lums, but they have little effect on standard gameplay
  6.
  7. Hub Worlds & World Structure: Each world is structured similarly, starting with an Intro Level, which leads to a Hub Level. From these Hub Levels, you can move on to 7 different Standard Levels, and a Boss Level can be accessed once all of those have been completed. Finally, once enough Electoons have been saved, a Moskito Level is available, which segues into the next world. The Standard Levels are split into three sections each, each requiring the help of Royal Teensies saved at the end of each level in order to open the path to the next set. These follow a similar pattern of 2 -> 3 -> 2 -> Boss, with the boss requiring all the Royal Teensies in order to unlock. Hub Levels themselves are fairly large and explorable, with a number of special quests to solve, which range from completing unique challenges in each level or time trials. There is also a competitive minigame unique to each world, which can play into quests as well. There is still a world map in order to smooth things out.
  8.
  9. Darkness & Nightmares: Enemies remain similar to how they are in Origins and Legends, but the bubble popping second hit from Origins returns. While there are recurring enemies like Lividstones, Hunters, Psychlopses, and Darktoons, there are unique enemies for each world as well, though these follow the similar one hit rule. However, there are a new type of enemy in the game, only encountered during Dark Zones, certain sections of levels that mute the color scheme of the area, and pit you up against powerful Dark Warriors, who must be defeated to move on. There are several types of Dark Warriors, wielding all types of weapons and coming in different shapes and sizes. The Dark Claws are tiny, but extremely fast. Dark Blades are slow, but have long range. Dark Hammers have shields to block direct attacks. Dark Mages have long range attacks. Dark Cannons are completely invincible to everything but the bombs they shoot at you. Unlike most enemies, these Dark Warriors take a certain amount of hits to fully defeat, with Dark Claws taking 1, Blades taking 3, Hammers taking 8, Mages taking 3, and Cannons taking 3 (But only from their own bombs). They reward a lot of Lums on defeat, and must be defeated in order to move on through the level. Each Dark Warrior is a formidable foe, acting more like a mini-boss, and will even get tougher as the game continues.
  10.
  11. New Actions: Several new moves have been added to Rayman and friends' repertoire. The most major of these is the Carry mechanic, allowing characters to pick up and carry objects. This allows for slower, more puzzle oriented levels. Other additions include a 3-hit health system (Pits still insta-kill).
  12.
  13. Achievements: There are now in-game achievements, which can be located in the main hub of the Heart of the World. These achievements are unlocked throughout the game, and include things like defeating bosses, saving Electoons and Teensies, collecting Lum Medals and Time Trial Trophies, getting high-scores on minigames, completing quests, and even unique actions in each world. These types of achievements exist in each world, and when all achievements of a certain type are unlocked, a special Character Pack will be rewarded, containing four new characters to play as. For example, minigame high-scores will unlock sports themed characters, while Lum Medals will unlock golden characters.
  14.
  15. Worlds:
  16. Plum Jungle: A jungle filled with plum trees, and inhabited by the Plum-Maker Teensies, who supply the Glade with fresh Plum Juice. However, this has proven difficult recently as evil vines have appeared. As might be expected, plums are a common gimmick here, acting similar to how they did in Rayman 1, 2, and 3. Most levels take place in the jungle itself, including interesting areas like an abandoned Pirate Base, but some take it underground into the secret Ant Hills. The boss of the world is a carnivorous plant named Veenus, who has grown to massive sizes thanks to swallowing a piece of the Great Protoon.
  17.
  18. Wakatikiliki Island: A remote desert island that's renown for its ancient tiki statues. The Teensies there love to get out into the sun, and have pretty heavy tans thanks to it. There have been a few earthquakes recently, which might be connected to the tikis suddenly becoming alive! Levels here include such areas as a beach, a jungle full of dangerous tikis, ancient temples, and even the side of the volcano itself. The boss, who is both the cause of the evil tikis and the earthquakes, is the Great Wakatikiliki, a totem god who was sealed inside of the volcano ages ago. The power of the Protoon Piece that landed in the volcano has freed him, and now he needs to be put down for a dirt nap again.
  19.
  20. The Lost City: Located at the bottom of the ocean is a magnificent city, run by Mer-Teensies. The city has been attacked recently by evil fish monsters, commanded by a giant squid, and its up to Rayman and friends to help them. Level themes include standard swimming through reefs and ancient ruins, but also include traditional platforming levels in ship graveyards and underwater caves. As the world moves on, you will head into the abyss, confronting the massive squid on its own terms! The squid is named Squidifficus, and was turned giant by the power of a Protoon Shard.
  21.
  22. Artropolis: A massive metropolis constructed entirely out of art supplies, and run by the very modern and hip Artist Teensies. Unfortunately, an unknown vandal has been going around and ruining their artwork. Levels here take full advantage of the city setting, going from the streets to rooftops to sewers, and eventually reach the outskirts of the city. A recurring gimmick are Teleportraits, portraits that zip you from one place to the other. On the outskirts of the city the gang runs into the Vandal Gogh, a creature made out of art supplies that had been misused.
  23.
  24. Musical Mountain: Two familiar locales ended up crashing into each other during the last 20 years! Now this mountain is jammed pack with musical styles, the most formidable being the Rock Golems, who have been going around terrorizing the Funk Teensies. Levels here call back to both Band Land and the Blue Mountains from Rayman 1, with some taking place inside the mountain, some on the outer edges, and some on the clouds around it. The bosses are Mr. Sax and Mr. Stone, who fight you in a tag team match of the century.
  25.
  26. Belly of the Beast: A mysterious, giant beast has been lurking in the Glade of Dreams for ages. Teensy scientists have studied it for years, but recently its been causing massive earthquakes in its slumber, which threaten to tear apart the world! In order to solve this, you must go inside the beast, traversing its many different strange body parts in order to find out the cause. The real threat is the Dark Heart, a virus created by a Protoon shard! Defeat it, and save the poor beast!
  27.
  28. Livid Dead Swamp: A swamp that formed directly over the Land of the Livid Dead, and has some heavy connections to it, such as the infamous Dead Door! The ghosts have broken free and are wreaking spooky havoc on the poor Teensy hicks that live there. The swamp has many dangers, like Zombie Chickens and the brew-loving Eig. Luckily, swamp snakes are here to help our heroes along to close the door. At the end, a confrontation with Jano himself in the Land of the Livid Dead awaits!
  29.
  30. Desert of Skopenhotep: After his defeat in Rayman 1, Skops turned over a new leaf and took up residence in a nearby desert, acting as its benevolent king. However, something recently caused him to go mad again and lock himself up in his castle! New dangers lurk in the desert, leaving the Teensies that live there very unsafe. Skops' palace is heavily guarded now, so it will take treks through dark caves, ancient tombs, and even the treacherous palace itself in order to reach him.
  31.
  32. Moody Wreckage: The wreckage created when Moody Clouds crash landed. Its wreckage is still running, and a group of mechanical Teensies appeared and started to make their home in the junkyard. This is a fairly dangerous prospect, however, what with the grinding gears, electrical currents, and malfunctioning weather machines that litter the area. The Magician is still active in the area, and is planning on powering a powerful robot with a shard of the Great Protoon!

  40. Dark World: A world created by Mr. Dark himself with the power of the Great Protoon's core. This eerie world tasks you with going through super hard versions of previous world themes, which are swarming with Dark Warriors! Instead of Teensies, the diminutive Darklies must be saved, and an extra tough boss awaits at the end of each level. Only the bravest of heroes can overcome this challenge.
  41.
  42. Castle of Darkness: The final world, taking place in Dark's extravagant castle. Conquer its challenges, and then take on the villain himself!
