  1. Prologue
  2. ~Ten years ago~
  3. >anon.......Anooooon?
  4. *Groan*
  5. "Ten more minutes."
  6. >ANONYMOUS!
  7. "Ok, I'm up, I'm up! Jeez"
  8. >You are Anonymous, and you're 12 years old
  9. >"Come on lazy bones, Up up up! It's time to work the south field!"
  10. >And you bucking hate mornings
  11. "But Maaaaa, today's the sisters' turn to work! I'm too sick to do it!"
  12. >"You heard me young man. It's only a cold anyway, now get to it!"
  13. *Sigh*
  14. "Yes'm"
  15. >No matter how many times you do it, or how early you go to bed the previous night, you just can't stand waking up early
  16. >grumbling to yourself, you get dressed in your basic overalls(self-made!) and head outside to the rock farm where the three Pie sisters are already hard at work rotating the boulders, immediately perking up at the sight of them
  17. >Trudging up to them, you get started on figuring out just exactly what it is you're supposed to be doing today
  18. "Hello girls", you say rather cheerily, a grin on your face, despite the dreary surroundings
  19. >"Hello Anon", came the rather unenthusiastic response from the three little fillies
  20. "What's with the long faces girls?"
  21. >"It's nothing", says the youngest of the three, Blianka Catheryn Pie, also known simply as Blinkie Pie
  22. "Oh really? I didn't think "nothing" would make you all frown so much."
  23. The trio looks at the ground dejectedly
  24. >You look at the three for a little longer, sighing
  25. "I thought I told you three that no matter what, you should always be smiling and trying to get others to smile too"
  26. >"There you go again Anon"
  27. "Hmm?"
  28. "You're always telling us how we should be smiling like it's something simple, but it's not!" Shouts Pinkamena Diane Pie, or Pinkie Pie as you've come to call her
  29. >“And besides, she adds bitterly, what’s the point? All we ever do is move rocks around all day! Who is there to cheer up?”
  30. You take a moment before responding, mulling her words over in your head, before giving her your answer
  31. “The point, my dear Twinkie Pinkie, is to make life a little better for everyone” You say, using that little nickname that you've taken to calling her
  32. >She stares up at you, unconvinced
  33. “And besides, you have your sisters here to cheer up. Don’t you think the days would go by easier if you just tried to make each other laugh?”
  34. >"I....guess"
  35. "Always remember my little Pinkie; if a situation isn't fun, then you just have to MAKE it fun!"
  36. >As you say the last part, you pick her up and start tickling her tummy
  37. >She erupts into a fit of giggling, the first true laughter of the day
  38. >"Heeheehee, haahaa,ok ok, I get it, I get it!" she snorts out as you put her back down
  39. >She starts pouting as soon as you do, acting as if she's still upset
  40. "Oh come on, don't try to fool me, you love it when I do that, and we both know it"
  41. >"What are you doing up so early anyway?", she asks, ignoring your comment
  42. "Well, you se-
  43. >"Yeah, aren't you supposed to be getting some rest'?" chimes in the rather silent Amethyst Leona Pie, otherwise known as Inkie Pie
  44. "Yes, I was, but Mama Bonnie thinks my cold isn't serious, so here I am" you reply, spreading your arms wide
  45. >Pinkie pie briefly looks around
  46. >"Well, me and the sisters have things covered here", she says, giving you a wan smile
  47. >"Why don't you go clean out the Silo?"
  48. >You grin a little, knowing she gave you the easier job on purpose
  49. >She always was looking out for you, that Pinkie pie
  50. You ruffle her mane a little
  51. "Thanks Twinkie Pinkie, I think I'll go do that", you say, shooting her a grateful look
  52. >"Aww, it's no big deal", she says, her smile growing a little more genuine
  53. "There's the smile I remember" you say, as you boop her on the nose before heading towards the nearby Silo
  54. >Opening the silo door, you look inside, noticing the amount of dust particles floating around
  55. "This place is a..a...ACHOO!"
  56. "...A mess"
  57. >Great, as if your cold wasn't bad enough, now you've got your allergies to annoy you
  58. >Oh well, mind over matter, you've always said, just gotta keep your mind on other things and you'd be fine!
  59. >You were always an optimist at heart
  60. >You had to be, for the girls
  61. >Mama Bonnie and Papa Clyde were always so grim and serious, that you were forced to become the ray of light in the family
  62. >Not that you were actually family, but you may as well have been
  63. >Thinking back on it, as you light up an oil lantern to see better in the dark Silo, you remember how you first met your adoptive parents
  64. You were Five at the time
  65. >You were running away from the orphanage you stayed at....again
  66. >This time, however, was different
  67. >This time, you weren't acting out, but trying to help instead
  68. >The previous night you had over-heard the director of the orphanage telling the nanny how they would have to close the orphanage if they didn't cut back on the amount of children being housed
  69. >The Nanny begged and pleaded with the Director, asking him to re-consider
  70. >Eventually the Director gave in, on one condition
  71. >"At least one of those snot nosed brats has to go!"
  72. >"B-but sir, they all need me!"
  73. >"I don't CARE!" he had shouted
  74. >"If I can't even cut back on one kid, then we might as well say goodbye to this Orphanage"
  75. >It was at that moment that you knew what you had to do
  76. >You had to leave the orphanage
  77. >Sure, you were young, but you had always been the responsible one, always the one the others turned to when things became sad or scary
  78. >And besides, it's not like you were leaving any friends behind, really
  79. >Sure, lots of the kids respected you, or looked up to you, but the role that you played forced you to distance yourself from them, to keep them at an arms reach, and not let them cloud your decisions
  80. >Above all, you were a practical thinker
  81. >Leaving, however, wasn't a decision based in practicality, oh no
  82. >You were leaving because of /her/
  83. >You were leaving because of Nanny
  84. >If the orphanage closed down, then she would be out of a job, and that just wouldn't do
  85. >She had grown to be like a mother to you, always looking out for you, always giving you an extra cupcake for lunch, and you loved her dearly for it
  86. >Which is why you had been out in the street that faithful night, as it began to rain
  87. >And when it rained, it poured
  88. >Heavy droplets of water peppered the ground, falling fast and thick, obscuring your vision
  89. >The sky briefly lit up with lightening, the deafening boom of thunder quickly replacing it
  90. >You never saw that car coming
  91. >You didn't even hear it
  92. >Not until it was right on top of you
  93. >It was just then, when the headlights were mere feet from your face, that the sky was once again illuminated by lightning, a bolt striking the car as it reached you
  94. >That was the last thing you saw before your world turned white
  95. >When you woke up, you were sitting in the middle of a field of some sort, a vast expanse of...rocks surrounded you, with a small house visible in the distance
  96. >It was still pouring rain, and as such, you quickly headed to the distant house
  97. >Knocking on the door, you were too busy being frozen to notice how small it seemed
  98. >What you did notice, was the thing that opened the door
  99. >You were rather taken aback when the door was opened by a small...horse?
  100. >No, the nose wasn't right, and you could tell by the pixe-err, by the number of books you'd read, that this....was a pony
  101. >Not just any pony, but a pony that could talk too!
  102. >He eyed you suspiciously for a moment or two, before asking
  103. >"What in the world are you?"
  104. "S-s-scared", you barely managed to chatter out through trembling teeth, before promptly passing out
  105. >He gave an audible sigh before turning around and shouting down the hallway
  106. >"Bonnie! There's a small furless pink creature passed out on our doorstep!"
  107. >"Is it dangerous?!" Bonnie shouted back
  108. >He turned back to examine you, critically eyeing your lack of claws, or any other indication of a possible predator
  109. >Finding none, he shouted back
  110. >"No!"
  111. >"Well what are you waiting for then, bring it in!", came the response
  112. >"Alright , alright, no need to get all huffy"
  113. >Grabbing hold of your torn jeans, he dragged you into the house, towards what would later become your new family
  114. You look around, as your reminiscing is interrupted by the sudden noise of the Silo door opening
  115. >"Hey Nony, mama says it's almost breakfast time!", shouts Pinkie pie, as she heads back outside to finish her job up
  116. >About time, you were starving!
  117. >You take a peek outside, and see that Inkie is already heading for the house, while Blinkie is wrapping up her workload
  118. >Farther south, Pinkie is moving on to her last batch of rocks as well
  119. >You decide to quickly check up on the state of the other Silo, at the opposite end of the field, before heading off to eat your delicious breakfast
  120. >Walking past Pinkie you give her a big hug
  121. >"What's the hug for?" She asks, her mane going briefly poofy, as it tends to do when you treat her extra special
  122. "No reason, I'm just happy to have such a great sister"
  123. >"Then why do you make me some of your famous cupcakes if I'm so great?" She asks, giggle-snorting a little
  124. "You know what, just for being so kind to me, I think I will.", you tell her, as you scoop her up and start nuzzling her with your nose
  125. >She laughs her cute high-pitched laugh, trying to fend you off
  126. >Before long though, you put her back down, not wanting to make either of you late for breakfast
  127. >You start walking faster to the other Silo, leaving the still-giggling filly behind, a big smile plastered on your face
  128. >You think back to the events that occurred after you were adopted, as you swiftly approach the Silo
  129. >The days following that incident changed your life....
  130. >Consequently, it was all a blur to you now
  131. >The folks living there were surprisingly understanding with you, considering how different you were from them
  132. >They even let you live with them when they found out about your current situation, despite the fact that you were a strange creature
  133. >That was quite a lot of trust to put into something they barely met, seeing as how you would be hanging around their newborn triplets fairly soon
  134. >They agreed to let you stay on one condition
  135. >You had to help Clyde around the farm
  136. >There were some basic things that were hammered into you by Ma and Pa Pie of course
  137. >Using a special diamond-tipped Ho,finding out the dangers of old Silos, learning how to drive a tractor, and discovering a few Trix of the Trade yourself, to name a few.
  138. >And when you weren't doing that, you were busy helping Bonnie out with the triplets
  139. >Between the three of them, they were quite the handful, even at an early age
  140. >Growing up with them had its ups and downs, and you shared many special moments with them
  141. >Pinkie in particular had always gotten along with you better than the others, the two of you getting into all sorts of crazy shenanigans, growing up
  142. >From going around playfully chasing the few animals around, to getting chased in turn by a big bear
  143. >To learning how to deal with your collective fear of the dark, with a little help from Granny Pie
  144. >Teaching her the wonders of a Cupcake
  145. >You came to love every moment of it
  146. >Your reminiscing stops for a moment as you open the single door that leads to the interior of the silo
  147. >Looking back to where Pinkie was, you see her finish moving the last of the rocks in the south field
  148. "I should probably do this quickly, or I'll get left behind", you think out loud as you walk inside
  149. >Entering the Silo, you notice immediately that it's far dustier than the other one was
  150. >You set your oil lantern on the railing surrounding the stairs as take a moment properly cover up your mouth
  151. >Damn this air was heavy with dust!
  152. >You suddenly turn to look at your lantern, belatedly realizing that it not have been such a great idea to put it on such a small surface
  153. >Just as you're about to move it off of its precarious position, you feel the earth start to shake
  154. >The shaking grows stronger, the entire building trembling, as the lantern wobbles precariously
  155. >One more mighty shake sends it tumbling to the floor
  156. >”Anon, these Silos tend to get mighty dusty whenever we don’t use em for a while. As such, most of it is ultra-dry timber pieces, and tends to spread throughout most of the air in the silo.”
  157. > Papa Clydes’ words echo through your head as you leap to catch it
  158. >Which is why it is imperative that we do not, under ANY circumstances have an open flame inside a dusty silo when its doors are closed. The results would be….catastrophic.”
  159. >You make a wild grab for the lantern as it slips between your hands, before cracking open on the hay-covered hardwood floor
  160. >The moment the air touches the little flame, your world turns red, and pain consumes you
  161. ----------------------------Outside---------------------------
  162. ~Pinkies’ Perspective~
  163. >You had just finished rolling the last rock over to the Southfield, the last bit of good cheer sucked out of you, as you think of doing this for the rest of your life
  164. >It’s with this in mind that you start to head back, a small frown on your face, when the ground starts shaking, a burst of sound and color erupting in front of you
  165. >You look up to the sky, and what you see there puts a huge smile on your face, possibly the biggest one you’ve ever had, as a magnificent Rainbow Ring covers the sky, beautifully reflected in your saucer-sized eyes
  166. >The concussive force blasts a gale of wind over you ruffling your hair in the same way Anon did, except, this time it stayed poofy, refusing to droop back down, just like your smile
  167. >What could this strange feeling be? Is this…..happiness? Joy?
  168. >No, it’s something deeper, more powerful than happiness, as you think you finally realize what you really want to do in life
  169. >You….you want others to feel like this, you want to go and spread laughter, spread joy, spread happiness to every corner of the world.
  170. >But where to start?
  171. >Where do you begin?
  172. >That’s when your eyes fall upon the first silo that Anonymous had just finished clearing out, empty, perfect for housing a ton of stuff, and big enough to accommodate everyone!
  173. >Your grin grows even bigger as you know, instinctively, what you’re going to do
  174. >You start trotting towards it, the roar of the Rainboom covering the noise of the explosion occurring behind you, the blast of wind putting out the flames and blowing away the smoke
  175. >The rest of the Pie family decides to start breakfast without you two……..
  176. -------------------------------------------------
  177. Several weeks later
  178. ~Anons POV~
  179. >You open your eyes, the bright light hurting them as you try to remember where you were, and why you were here
  180. >You try to lift your head, quickly realizing that you’re covered in bandages, as a surge of pain shoots through your body, forcing yourself to lie back down, and eyes closed against the pain
  181. >You crack them back open when a pair of voices addresses you in a singsong manner
  182. >Pony1:”Well lookie what we got here brother of mine, an overeager monkey who’s overstepping his bounds. He’s trying to move despite his appearance, looking like he was half eaten by a Tartarian hound!”
  183. >Pony1:”It’s such a darn shame his family couldn’t pay the hospital bills, even with all their bits pooled not a single bag could they fill”
  184. >Pony2: “Looks like we’ll have to take his body as payment, coming to some sort of scientific arrangement!”
  185. >A couple of strangely garbed unicorns sneered at you, as you turned your head to look at them
  186. >They maliciously laughed when all you gave out was a groan
  187. It would be the beginning of a long life of servitude for you…
