Like all Mordaunt men, Leonzio's early life was rife with physical abuse and rigorous training. The son of Luciano Mordaunt, he was expected to do just as all Mordaunt men did; great things, at any cost. Family came before everything, but nothing came before the family image. As a young man the ideas of sophistication, class and eloquence were hammered into his mind, as well as the more nuanced practices of dueling, potioneering and herbology that he would need to accel at Hogwarts. When talking about the history of his family, it's rare to hear him speak badly about his father. All things considered, Luciano grew to become a man of great power, just in a way that disgusts him. Rather, most of his hatred is focused on his uncle, Ozario. He was the one tasked with whipping him when he was younger, as well as routinely employing the Cruciatus Curse to build his pain tolerance. Despite his distaste for his family, there are a select few who he maintains a close relationship, most notably his sister Victoria Mordaunt and his niece Clarissa.

During his younger years, Leonzio was the spitting image of his father; cunning, conniving, and prepared to manipulate and back stab anyone, even his closest friends, if it meant success. It was the primary reason why he was sorted into Slytherin. But, as he grew older and began dealing with more and more responsibilities (among them being appointed Slytherin's male Prefect in his fifth year of school), he abandoned such petty things and turned his life around. Leaving school during a period of economic recession, he had found himself homeless for several years before deciding to apply for law school and make a living as a lawyer. He was accepted and offered training as a judge under Sage Fair, several years before he ran for Minister, during his time as Chief Warlock. Here he began to form the basis for his intellectualism and thirst for knowledge, which carried over well when he began working in Law Enforcement. He still exudes a certain intangible air of class and sophistication well into his old age. His mind has grown even sharper through years of mental exercise, and he's proven himself a wise adviser. So wise, in fact, that he was selected by Sylar Travers to serve as his Senior Undersecretary during his second tenure as a Magical Law Enforcement Officer, then as Elder Healer under Arcturus Black, and finally as Minister for Magic. He now lends his wisdom to the next generation of witches and wizards as a Professor of Potions at Hogwarts.

When he was a younger man he thought his wand could solve any problem he had, including dealing with his enemies. As he's grown older, however, he's become something of a pacifist who uses defensive charms and deflection to deal with problems when called upon than anything else. He is above all things a man of rigid principle, who is unafraid to do what is right over what is easy, even at great personal risk.

Long-term romances were never much Leonzio's forte. Both members of the Prefect team at the time (she had just been appointed Head Girl) the two developed a blossoming romance that lasted just over a year. But, at the beginning of their seventh year, she disappeared. He would learn later that her father was none other than a young Steven Castillo, fresh off of his tenure as an Auror, and then a follower of the Dark Lord Riley Scott. He refused to connect himself to anyone romantically again until age fifty, when he met Evelyn Avery. The two were attracted to one another almost immediately, and began an intense, passionate romance that blossomed over the following months. Leonzio began spending his nights at her apartment and recently proposed. The two held their wedding on the cost of France, and were happily married for three years before she suddenly disappeared. The term was rocky, to say the least, but we've remained loyal friends in spite of it. I don't forsee that changing any time soon.

As a former Auror, I feel a kind of unspoken kinship with him as I would with anyone who shared our experience. After my transition out of office and his transition into it, Ifound myself sitting next to Davos Frenlore as one of his two advisors. He's an intelligent man, and a loyal one at that. My time with him didn't yield much, which is good. I see Athena quite a lot these days, but not so much as a picture of him.

        In any other circumstance, me and Damocles would be vicious enemies. Long ago he served as one of Steven Castillo's closest confidantes, close enough that they considered themselves to be brothers. I have no reason to believe he doesn't still harbor some kind of affection for the man. However, he made a decision late in his life that he would disavow Steven and work with the Ministry, perhaps to try and right some of the wrongs he's done. It wasn't long after that before he fled again. I'm unsure of what I think of him now.

        When I first met Brian, I considered him one of the best Aurors the department had to offer; perhaps even one of the best of his time. The way he led, the way he commanded the respect of his colleagues was astounding. Despite his successful attempt at running for Minister, I'm no less critical of Brian now than I was when I first met him. As one of his advisors, it's my job to make sure he doesn't get stuck too far inside his own head. My main concern is that he continues to treat my niece the way she should. He may be the Minister, but I'm not opposed to putting him in his place should he step out of line. Clarissa deserves the best of this world, and from what I've seen, that's exactly what she's gotten.

        I think I understand now why she decided not to tell me she was dying until the last moment. It was unfitting of her image, seeing her weak and frail in that bed. Not only was Anya von Klem the brightest witch I've ever met, she was also someone I knew I could rely on for advice. If we had been born closer together in time, maybe things could've been different. All I can say now is that I valued the time I had with her. She's a part of history now.

She's incredibly intelligent, maybe too intelligent for her own good, but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if anything happened to her. I watch over her just like I do with Clarissa; for now, she seems to be making something of a positive change in her life.

        Many people don't understand the way Shinji operates. I've heard the way people talk about him when he isn't listening; unorthodox, how he dresses like a muggle, everything. What they fail to see, or acknowledge, is the man's genuine zest for life and being alive, one that I have yet to see matched in any other person I've ever met, except perhaps in Arsos Dumbledore. Having gone through the hospitals files, I've seen first hand what Shinji's past was like. It reminds me of my own, in a way. For a man to overcome such things and yet retain such a powerful, infectious happiness reminds me of Victoria's own story. I respect the man beyond words.

The natural skill for it remained, however, and he began practicing again later in his life. He isn't shy about his ability and, after seeking the guidance of Emma Oakley, has perfected the skill to its maximum capacity. He is currently recognized as one of the most proficient legilimens in the country.

Also seemingly changed by his experiences as a healer, his priorities with the wand have changed thusly; his knowledge of defensive charms has been his main focus, beginning with mastering Lumos Arma. Most of his goals in combat now rely on incapacitation and defense, while the younger Aurors do much of the heavy hitting. His staff, one that he got from his niece Jerrianne, is more suited to conjuring durable enchantments and strong shields. [/font][/li][/ul]

Either as an officer of the law or as Undersecretary, he just couldn't seem to get a break from the fighting (either by him walking into a situation, or someone challenging him face to face). It was in this time that he decided his best option would be to change course and to immerse himself in healing magic, an art he'd always admired, but never found enough time to learn. He enjoyed every moment of his time spent in the hospital; it challenged him, more so than combat did. Before retiring from his position as Elder Healer to assume the office of Minister for Magic, Leonzio had functionally mastered the art of healing, and continues to practice it to this very day.[/font]

[/li][li][u][b][font color="#6b516b" size="1" face="arial"]POTIONEERING[/font][/b][/u][font face="times new roman"]        Alongside Herbology and Defence Against the Dark Arts, potioneering was one of the few subjects Leonzio truly excelled at while in school. Upon his acceptance into the Auror Training Program, his skills were put to the absolute test. During his time in Law Enforcement, his knowledge in potions allowed him to easily blend into almost any crowd, as well as defend himself in a pinch if need be. With the help and tutelage of two of the most respected potions masters of their age, Anya von Klem and Damocles Flamel, Leonzio formulated, tested and got approved a potion of his own invention that improves the users vision four-fold, known colloquially as the Farsight Solution. He currently uses these skills as a professor of Potions at Hogwarts.

Leonzio was promoted to Auror after just a few months on the force by order of the Minister himself (Oliver Golgotha, during one of his calmer spells). Since his retirement, he's continued to find his skills of stealth and tracking useful when aiding the Ministry from Hogwarts.[/font][/li][/ul]

He underwent a crisis of identity that nearly made him quit his job. However, the speed and strength were a help during his first tenure in Magical Law Enforcement. Shortly after his retirement from Head of Department, his disease slowly faded, and he was diagnosed by Italian healers as being reduced to Dhamphirism. As a result of all the years of aging his disease kept at bay, he has physically aged faster than most wizards, as his body seemingly makes up for lost time.[/strike][/font]

He'd always been an innately intelligent man, but as he's begun to enter his sixties, he's placed an even greater emphasis on his mental acumen than ever before. An avid reader and a gifted scholar since his years at Hogwarts, Leonzio has always set the bar very high for himself, both in and out of the classroom. With a large bredth of real world experience under his belt, many now look up to him as something of a mentor, and for a good reason. He refuses to call himself wise, but the whitening of his hair has given him a more sage-like appearance. Decorative vines curled around the pillars. It looked peaceful to me when I was growing up, not so much now. It wouldn't be long before my father, Luciano, and his brothers would migrate the rest of us to England in search of more fertile opprotunities. But before the journey could be made, the children had to be tested. These "tests" would come to taint my memory of that beautiful place.  [/font][/div]
