  1. Welcome! If you're reading this, it's probably because you asked a question that's been asked dozens, if not hundreds of times already, and us forum regulars are getting tired of repeating ourselves!
  2.
  3. NOTE: If you're not good at English, use https://translate.google.com or https://deepl.com to translate this document into your native language. I will not be providing translations myself.

  5. HARRY POTTER HOGWARTS MYSTERY (MOD) - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  6.
  7. QUESTION 1: "I don't want to read all of this, can you make it shorter?"
  8. ANSWER: No. I wrote all of this for a reason. If you don't want to read, we're not helping you.
  9.
  10. QUESTION 2: "Can I log into my Facebook account using this mod?"
  11. ANSWER: Yes! But you need to back up your save on Facebook using the vanilla version of the game (the one from the Google Play Store) before you start modding for the first time. If you don't, you'll be stuck playing on that device forever, because you can't safely recover a modded account without Facebook. Hope it doesn't break! NOTE: Ensure the Facebook app is NOT installed on your device before attempting to log in. You should only sign in to Facebook using your device's web browser instead.
  12.
  13. QUESTION 3: "Can I use my Google Play account with this mod?"
  14. ANSWER: As far as we're aware, no. Attempting to log into Google Play using the new option in the account menu doesn't work on the mod. Your only option to save your account is to use Facebook.
  15.
  16. QUESTION 4: "Will doing <x> get me banned?"
  17. ANSWER: Currently, there are two ways to get banned by using this mod. They are as follows:
  18. A. Attempting to contact Jam City's customer support. If you reach out to the game developers for any reason, such as reporting a bug, asking for help with a quest, or trying to transfer a save without Facebook, they are required to analyze your account for any discrepancies in your activity. This includes your purchase history, whether or not you've logged in using the vanilla app, how fast you've been progressing through the game with/without spending money, etc. As soon as they see ANYTHING out of the ordinary, you'll be banned within a couple of days.
  19. B. Logging in during a Full Marks or House Pride event (which are now permanently in effect, thanks JC...). These two events are the only multiplayer events in the whole game. Everything else is strictly singleplayer, no matter how it looks. During FM or HP, other players have the ability to report suspected cheaters if they see something unusual. If anyone in your multiplayer group (NOT JUST YOU, ANYONE!) gets reported, Jam City will analyze your account. Even if you weren't the one who got reported, they have to check everyone's accounts in the group. Even if you switch back to the vanilla app or try to ignore the event, they have to check your account. And just like before, as soon as they see something out of the ordinary, you'll be banned.
  20.
  21. When we say "don't log in during Full Marks or House Pride", we seriously mean DON'T LOG IN DURING FULL MARKS OR HOUSE PRIDE!
  22.
  23. QUESTION 5: "Is there any safe way to play when multiplayer events are active?"
  24. ANSWER: DO NOT PLAY ON THE CURRENT VERSION OF THE MOD! Generally speaking, the game will not attempt to enroll you in Full Marks or House Pride if you're playing on an older version of HPHM. You should try to stay 1-3 versions behind the current version whenever possible. Please note that if you've already signed into the game using the current version of the app, you WILL NOT be able to downgrade to an older version. This goes for both the vanilla app and the hacked one. The game will recognize which version of the app you last signed in on, compare it to the one you're trying to use, and force you to install the update before you can play. In those situations, your only option is to wait for the current version of the game to become outdated before it becomes safe to play again.
  25.
  26. QUESTION 6: "My game keeps crashing, what do I do?"
  27. ANSWER: If the crash is preventing you from making progress in the main story, Quidditch, or a side quest, try switching back to the vanilla app and playing through that section without cheats. Once you succeed, save your progress and go back to the mod. We strongly recommend that you have a copy of the vanilla version of the game installed on a separate device or an Android emulator, and that you stay logged into the same account on both devices. This will allow you to seamlessly switch between the two devices in case you encounter a game-breaking glitch. Recall the answer from question 4: You cannot contact Jam City to report glitches or else you'll be banned. No exceptions.
  28.
  29. If switching game versions doesn't fix the problem, you're just going to have to wait for Jam City to patch it in a future update.
  30.
  31. QUESTION 7: "The game just got updated. Where's the latest version of the mod?"
  32. ANSWER: YOU DO NOT NEED THE LATEST VERSION OF THE MOD TO PLAY! In fact, if you've read Question 5, you should already know that you must not be playing on the current version under any circumstances. Full Marks and House Pride are on an endless weekly cycle because that's how Jam City catches cheaters like us. Begging for updates is not only annoying, it's pointless. You won't be able to safely play on the latest update for at least a few weeks after it comes out. This unfortunately means you won't get immediate access to the latest story chapters, TLSQs, and other content right when they launch, but they'll be ready and waiting for you when the latest version gets outdated by another release. Patience is a virtue. This means YOU, luporoma85.
  33.
  34. You should still DOWNLOAD the latest .apk when it becomes available, but DO NOT INSTALL IT until we deem that it's safe from MP events.
  35.
  36. QUESTION 8: "Can you add <x> to the mod menu?"
  37. ANSWER: If it's not there, it's probably not there for a reason. To put it simply, there are a huge number of encrypted values in the game's code that are difficult to modify. If you need to do something specific, you can use a memory editor such as Game Guardian to do things like modifying your attribute EXP, giving yourself a specific number of energy/coins/gems/pages/books, etc. But it's a little tricky. Follow this guide on YouTube if you're interested: https://youtu.be/RlNmmOOOvMQ
  38.
  39. Note: While it is possible to use Game Guardian to skip the stars requirements for your lessons, it's such a long and drawn out process that it's basically not worth trying to hack. Just turn on the mod's infinite energy cheat and play through a couple of 8-hour study sessions. If you're paying attention, you can finish each one in 5 minutes or less. Boom. Lesson unlocked. I know it sucks and it's annoying, but that's literally the fastest way to do it.
  40.
  41. QUESTION 9: "I got banned, what do I do?"
  42. ANSWER: Make a new account, start over from scratch, and READ QUESTION 4. Unless your name is Sirstrawhat, Jam City doesn't unban cheaters. They clearly had enough proof to swing the hammer down upon you. Sign out of the Facebook account connected to your game, clear the game's cache and storage in your phone's settings, then you can start a new save file.
  43.
  44. QUESTION 10: "Why can't I buy items on the store with the gems cheat?"
  45. ANSWER: That one's a little tricky. Start by opening the modded game, but don't enable any cheats yet. Go to the store and attempt to buy something with gems, like energy. When you get the "Need More Gems?" pop-up, click on the X button in the corner and close the store. Open the cheat menu and enable the gems cheat. Finally, go back to the store and attempt to purchase some energy with gems. You will still get a "Missing Materials" pop-up, but just click "Buy Now" and you'll get your energy for free. Now you can buy anything else that the store sells for gems. This cheat doesn't work on anything that costs real-world money, obviously. This cheat also does not persist across sessions, so if you save and close the game, you'll have to redo these steps when you start playing again later.
