The singular outpost of human civilization is the isle of Rupaul, located in the center of the largest crater-ocean on the planet. Rupaul, approximately the size of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland combined hosts many small communes on the north-eastern coast, with some reaching a small amount of miles inland. The coastline is dotted with many tropical lagoons and beaches, with the shore evenly and gradually dropping below the warm, clear water. A "reefwall" surrounds the island and divides the shallower fishing and recreational zones with the dangerous deep water beyond.

Past the safety of the Reefwall, impassable electric storm systems rage and currents rip. None have ever survived passage into the storm, or at least returned to tell of it. The storms are caused due to a vast kinetic ferroactive slug beneath Rupaul distorting the magnetic field of the planet.
