  1. You stated this was not for video editing, and the battery life was very important. So, the following list has those criteria as priorities.
  2.
  3. * Dell XPS 13 9360 or 9370
  4. ** Dell is selling both models currently, but with upgraded 8th gen processors
  5. ** 9370 is slimmer than last years, but embraces dongle life
  6. ** 9370 has better screens than last years, but the screens are already one of the best
  7. ** Don't buy the Linux version, it still has 7th gen intel
  8. ** Swap Killer Wireless with Intel card for better Linux support
  9. ** 1080p screen for battery life
  10. ** Non-upgradable RAM
  11. ** 9360 has full side sd card, 9370 only has micro-sd
  12. ** 9360 has slightly larger battery than 9370 (cause everything needs to be slimmer)
  13.
  14. Lenovo X270/X1 Carbon/T480[s]/
  15. * Dont buy x280, Lenovo decided to Macbook Air it, and removed all the features that made it great
  16. * RAM
  17. ** X1 Soldered on
  18. ** 480s 1 slot open
  19. ** 480 2 slots open
  20. ** 270 2 slots open
  21.
  22. * CPU
  23. ** Same except for 270 (last gen processors)
  24.
  25. * Drives
  26. ** Same
  27.
  28. * Ethernet
  29. ** X1 Dongle required, but it a standard wired ethernet so no USB bus conversion (and MAC address is on laptop)
  30. ** Both 480's and 270 have ethernet
  31.
  32. * Screen
  33. ** X1 Carbon has HDR 14 inch
  34. ** Both 480 14 inch screens are average, but not great
  35. ** 270 has 12.5 inch screen
  36.
  37. * Battery
  38. ** 57 Wh for X1 and 480s
  39. ** Dual battery for 480 and 270 (12+ hours easy)
  40.
  41. * X1 has micro-SD while all others have full size SD
