- Homework: p. 7 parts B and C
- part B
- angry / mad
- patient / calm
- grown up / mature
- funny / amusing
- trustworthy / dependable
- (trustworthy = the person will be honest and keep my secrets, dependable = the person will do what I need them to do)
- caring / kind
- tense / nervous
- sad / unhappy
- part C
- 1 mad
- 2 patient (slow students will take a long time to learn, and “patient” means you can wait)
- 3 nervous
- 4 mature
- 5 dependable (“trustworthy” is probably better here)
- 6 amusing
- funny = amusing, it makes me laugh (like comedy)
- fun = enjoyable, it makes me happy

- p. 8-9 gives advice for the arrangement of written paragraphs
- p. 12 gives an example with some mistakes
- - the name should be in the left corner, not in the center
- - the title should be in the center
- - the first line should be indented (about 1cm)
- - “She is from” and “She is married” and “She lives” and “She likes” and “She doesn’t” should all start right after the previous sentence (not on a new line)
- - there should not be a new line between “listen to” and “music”
- - it should be double-spaced (with a blank line between each line of writing)
- ---
- Typing your paper is good practice for university (where almost everything will need to be typed). It is also a good way for me to see if you have correct punctuation and capitalization.
- ---
- Title: “My Classmate” or “My Brother” or “My Best Friend”
- Topic sentence: My new classmate [name] is a very cheerful and outgoing person.
- Supporting sentences: background information about the person (job, nationality, hobbies), maybe also some examples of how the person is cheerful and outgoing (or whatever adjective you chose)
- Concluding sentence: how you feel about the person (“I am very glad to know [name] and look forward to taking a class together.”)
- ---
- Background information should be from the questions you asked in class on Tuesday.
- Other students: write about someone else you know (a friend or family member), or invent a classmate
- ---
- Homework: write a short paragraph about your classmate. Make sure the format of the paragraph is correct (like we talked about today)
