After the tent is set, Della throws herself onto her bed roll, head facing the 'celling'.

Though she's taking out her own bedroll and blanket, Batu settles about as closely as she can to her partner. Laying down slowly and gently and keeping eye contact locked.

A single hand traces along where the acid might have burned, her voice coming out softly:

"How do you feel dear?"

A simple question of simple concern.

"Please avoid touching it... It still feels like it's mildly burning."

There's a quick peck of a kiss delivered to the burnt area- her hand erewhile reaching for her lovers own.

"This has been... much longer than either of us thought it might take, huh?"

She nods and their hands join.

“...yeah and we still have a shit ton more to go. Hope Rella and Feli aren’t worried, this been the longest time we will probably be away from them.”

There's a light squeeze.

"Knowing Rella... I'm sure she'll believe in us. You know what that means right?"

A snrk escapes her, but she shakes her head.

"We aren't allowed to perish. Either of us."

And with a flick of the arm, the second blanket is tossed over the pair. Rella's blanket.

"Wouldn't want to... let them down, right?"

“Obviously not, though that implies we are allowed to die if we aren’t stuck here and that’s a no.”

Della adjusts the blanket a little with her free hand.

"You're right. We won't. So try and get some rest, okay? You seemed.... stressed. Very stressed."

There's an uncomfortable shift of her gaze away.

"I hope... you aren't frustrated at me."
"The small quips, some of our ideas conflicting."

"The wings ordeal."

She shakes her head.

“...that’s just little things. Don’t worry about it. I might be just a little on the edge, being stuck in the dark lands and all... and the fucking acid.” The last four words are just muttered quietly.

“But hey, we got to slaughter gnomes. So this will be a positive memory in the long term.”

"A bit odd when you put it like that."

She seems conflicted with that.

"Dear just take a moment to think on what you're delighting in!"

There's a slight pause, she shifts her gaze away again.

"It's just.... how will I word this...."

There's a good long moment of thought before she nods, having made up her mind:

"We hunt to feed and supply ourselves. We've fought to defend our own selves in the tower when those who resided in it did not want to leave. Iz just... it's not odd, it's discomforting when it just seems.... that this time you're ready to delight in just the kill."
"That- that's what's odd. That's not...."

A pained look to the side.

Della turns her head to look back at the celling of the tent. Batu is obviously not wrong. She has delighted herself with the killing, the revenge but it doesn’t feel wrong. She’s slaughtering monsters after all. It’s not the same.

“...not normal, I suppose... though most normal standards don’t include coming back from the dead to kill those responsible for... killing you and you. I’m not really harming anyone who deserves to be unharmed.”

"I know you won't. I'm afraid something worse might come of it."

Instinctively, an arm wraps around her partner, then with a jerk she tugs her in close. Batu's shivering, or is she trembling? Probably both. It is a cold cave and, well, as you've experienced ever so lightly she does come from a partly superstitious background. Yet even some superstitions are rooted in truth.

"I'm afraid.... you won't be you. That I'll lose Della."
This tight- tucking your head close to her chest and settling her chin atop your own head. A tight squeeze of a hug, legs intertwining.

Della decides not to defend herself more, she can see that her totally reasonable explanations aren’t having much of effect. It’s not an logical issue after all but rather an emotional one.

She puts her arm over Batu in response and reaches for head, gently holding it and ruffling the hair just slightly.

“...I promise you, I’ll been and will be... Della.”
Is she even Della right now? Redellion no longer exists, hasn’t existed for some time now. A voice she had with her all the time is missing. Can she truly even be Della without that? A Della did die and never came back. This doubt creeps even into her promise. Just enough to be noticed.

*Perhaps it was hesitation in her voice, perhaps it was the way a hand clenched or a tightening of the chest. But- it was noticed. *

"Don't make a promise you can't keep."

She shifts and sets her head back at eye level. She... she was crying. There's a slight scoff of a smile but she cried a bit.

"Heck... I just realized..."
"We all have a little of that- don't we? The thing... the thing you got mad at for Rella."
"It might not even be a lie but... the nature of our words and intentions."
"When we might try and- think we do something good and just- mess up."

Della hasn’t cried yet... but now there’s guilt and doubt written all over her. She moves her hand to wipe any tear she can see on Batu.

“...when you put it like that... it sounds so normal. Something I’d expect anyone and everyone to do... please don’t cry.”

And as she says that, she can’t stop herself as small tears start forming around her sapphire eyes.

She tilts her forehead and nuzzles in, a lot closer face to face than before. Close enough to touch foreheads, nuzzle noses, share a peck or a kiss.

"No... you can cry too."

There's a long sigh.

"It... it is normal. I tried to tell you not to act the way you are and I ended up just... making you feel worse for it, didn't I? But... I really don't want to see you get that bad either."

Della decides to rest her forehead against batu’s and she lets the tears flow as she averts her eyes by looking down..

“...I’ll be fine... in truth... you aren’t wrong... about it being worrisome... that kind of thinking got me banned from the dojo.... that thinking made Redellion into everything she was... but... they do deserve to suffer... and once we’ll be out of here, that’s it. You won’t see me coming back to kill more. I can promise at least that.”

There's a nervous chuckle. You know she's only kidding but heavens know what odd tales and superstitions she grew up with.

"I'll.... I'll hold you to that, at least."

She’s already monstrous past the appearance.  She channels the power of death itself. Without a conscious effort, she alters fate to her will, shrugs off mortal wounds like it’s nothing, she’s a living lightning rod capable of acts of mass destruction and she moves at speeds most people can’t even really imagine correctly. To anyone opposing her, she is a ruthless monster.

“...They took Red from me... caused all of us suffering... That’s enough reason...”

You feel a spike of warmth coming from her, a rather familiar feeling. The warmth of suppressed electricity.

“Maybe... it’s time to talk about something else.”

Then there's a bit of curiosity to Batu. In truth, she's only done this type of thing once.  She's also brushed them from time to time to be fair but.. well... what better distraction might there be than this?

"Could you turn around a minute? Show me your back and all?"

There’s a raised eyebrow and suspicion of mischief is raised... but that’s maybe exactly the type of distraction she needs.

“...sure? It’s not that hard to see that’s there only two and there definitely isn’t a tiny one just hiding between them.”

She still turns onto her side, back and tails facing Batu.

Not like there's much mischief to be had- in these darkened caves and this singular tent. Not without disturbing the rest of their group. Gods help them if even Dew was listening.

Yet there IS the slightest bit of mischief. Not... true mischief but something surprising and scandalous either way.

A hand drifts over to a tail and grasps it gently, letting calloused fingers rub over soft fur. Passing hands in the same motions one would a brush but wholly without one.

Her face is close to peach blossom pink with it but... is this what she meant in trying to get used to Della's other forms? She's definitely putting in a good deal of effort into it.

She starts stuttering in a quiet, shy, embarrassed voice when was the last time she even stutter? Quite possibly only during the times when she, Feli or Rella died. She really should've expected this sort of thing but oh boy she did not.

She still faces Batu away but if she was in her human from and facing her, she would be cherry red right now.

A quiet defeated 'no' that gets a small chuckle from Batu. She continues on, still flush pink as ever but otherwise trying to be as gentle as her calloused fingers can allow her. Possibly making the experience better, rougher more textured hands.
Possibly go about it until interrupted again as she doesn't have much she wishes to say now. Nothing that comes to mind.
