- >The warmth of the sunlight roused you as you open your eyes to the familiar nothingness.
- >Today was your seventh morning in Equestria, though it was your eighth day.
- >As you push yourself up in your bed, you move your tongue around in your mouth, hearing the familiar wet smacking, and tasting that weird and awful flavour of your morning breath.
- >You swing your legs over the side of the bed before stretching your arms and cracking your neck.
- >A sharp stabbing pain in your stomach interrupts your morning ritual.
- ‘Ow…’
- >You knew what it was, but you hoped it would take more time for it to affect you.
- >The stomach pains mixed in with the nausea and times of weakness in muscle strength.
- >You needed to talk to Celestia immediately.
- >There was a sudden sharp knock at the door, and you almost fall off the bed in shock.
- >’Anonymous? Are you awake from your slumbers?’
- ‘Yes Princess Luna. I am awake.’
- >’May we enter?’
- >You quickly pat down yourself, making sure you had clothes on before feeling around for your glasses and cane.
- ‘Yes, you can come in.’
- >You stand as you hear the door open and bow in Luna’s direction.
- >’My my. Bowing and being so very gracious towards me. We find it is hard to believe you are the same Anon who struck us.’
- ‘In a dream. Where pain doesn’t exist. And you couldn’t see me. Fair is fair, Princess.’
- >’Do you bow to all the princesses, or are we the lucky one?’
- >You walk towards your bathroom, tapping with the cane along the tiled floor.
- ‘We bow to you for the same reason we refer to you with the “princess” title. We haven’t spent enough time together for you to allow me to call you “Luna”.’
- >The room goes silent as you turn on the faucet to wash your face.
- >You hear Luna approach the bathroom door.
- >’We… don’t know how to feel about that remark?’
- ‘It’s not malicious. We just don’t know each other that well.’
- >You take of your glasses and close your eyes, splashing the cold water on your face.
- >’We are sorry.’
- ‘Why?’
- >You grab a towel and dry your face.
- ‘You are mainly asleep when I am awake, and vice versa. Which brings the question, what can I do for you?’
- >’Your presence is required by Celestia and myself.’
- ‘Oh. That’s a weird coincidence. I needed to speak to Celestia today about some problems that may arise.’
- >’Oh…’
- >Luna sounded disappointed, like a child left out of a game of tag.
- ‘It will most likely concern you too, Princess.’
- >She lets out a nervous but relieved giggle.
- >’Shall we depart?’
- ‘Yeah, sure.
- >You sit your sunglasses on your face and follow the sound of Luna’s hoofsteps.
- ‘So, where are we going?’
- >’Is it of concern?’
- ‘Well…maybe. See, if I need to go there at some point and it’s somewhere I haven’t been before, I’d have to ask for some p0ny to assist me. But, if you tell me now that this is somewhere I haven’t been, I can create a mental map so I know where to go next time.’
- >’Have you been to the throne room?’
- ‘Not that I know of.’
- >’Then make your map while we walk.’
- >As you followed the princess’ hoofsteps, you lightly trail your fingers along the left wall.
- >Feeling each texture, you commit them to your mental map on the castle.
- >After a few twists and turns, the hoofsteps eventually stop.
- >’Just inside here, Anonymous. Are you prepared?’
- ‘I guess so. I don’t know what I need to prepare for.’
- >You hear a door open and Luna enter, you following behind her.
- >From the sound of the echo, you assume the room you were standing in was large in size.
- >You hear Celestia’s voice coming from the other side of the room, her words becoming clearer as you approached.
- >’…yes, I think that shall be a fine. You are dismissed.’
- >There was a rattling of metal as a set of heavy hoofsteps approached you.
- >’Princess. Sir.’ said the unknown voice.
- >You nod in the direction of the voice.
- >’Anonymous, I hope we did not wake you up too early.’
- ‘Of course not, Celestia. I was just telling your sister that I needed to speak with you both as well.’
- >’Hmmm… please have a seat.’
- >You feel something wooden nudge against your hand, and you carefully guide yourself down into the seat, leaving your bag next to you.
- ‘So…how can I help you?’
- >C ‘We need to ask you a few questions.’
- ‘I thought that you were finished with my questioning.’ You say, almost angrily.
- >C ‘This isn’t… we aren’t testing you, Anon. Luna and I would like to offer you citizenship.’
- >Your heart stops momentarily.
- ‘P-pardon…?’
- >L ‘We, the princesses of Equestria’s rule, would like to extend the offer of citizenship to you, Anonymous.’
- >You can’t stop your smile.
- ‘Really? I-I mean, yes! Thank you, Princesses. I didn’t expect all this especially so…so soon.’
- >C ‘Yes, it is a special case. Most creatures that live in our lands are either under a colony ruling, where they must abide by certain rules we give them; or they are visiting from their own nation for an extended period of time. We rarely offer Equestrian citizenship to other creatures, and usually it takes months to decide.’
- ‘What helped along my process?’
- >C ‘You never asked for a lot. You were always kind, courteous, willing to help.’
- >L ‘You put up with Discord and his…trickery.’
- ‘Good times.’
- >C ‘So, we asked the p0nies who knew you the best. Feather gave you a spotless review.’
- >You stifle a giggle.
- >L ‘The captain of the guard said you were a shining example.’
- >You grit your teeth, keeping your laughter in.
- >C ‘Princess Cadance said you were a lovely human.’
- >You can’t hold it in anymore.
- >Like a bursting dam, you let loose a loud laugh.
- >You hear Celestia laugh in a royal manner, and Luna giggle.
- ‘You…that was mean! You did that on purpose!’
- >C ‘What… what do you mean, Anon?’
- ‘Stop it. No more.’
- >C ‘Very well. I will not tell you what Discord had to say.’
- ‘What did he say?’
- >C ‘He said a single word. “Jabberwock”’
- >You smile and nod your head, still not understanding how he gets that reference.
- ‘If I may ask, what does citizenship entail?’
- >C ‘As the name says, you will be under our rule. We ask you follow our laws, and in turn, we will do our best to protect you. If you choose to travel, you will be supplied with a passport. We would also be willing to offer you a stipends to help you purchase items you need and get you onto your… feet.’
- >You nod again.
- >L ‘We will also be able to extend the payments for a longer period of time due to your… condition.’
- >You grit your teeth and drop your smile.
- >You hear Celestia whisper ‘Sister, that may not have been the correct wording.’
- ‘Don’t see the disability, see the person.’
- >L ‘Anon-‘
- ‘Don’t. I’m not in the mood.’
- >C ‘Not in the mood to hear an apology?’
- ‘No, not in the mood to get upset. You don’t need to worry about my condition, I can get by.’
- >C ‘Well, that is another thing we wanted to talk to you about.’
- >You tilt your head to the side in a quizzical manner.
- >C ‘As you know, we are in possession of very powerful magic.’
- ‘Yeah?’
- >C ‘Luna and I would be able cure… no, not cure. We would be able to give you sight.’
- >You smile and shake your head.
- ‘No, thank you.’
- >L ‘Are you sure?’
- ‘Yes, thank you. And thank you very much for the gracious offer. I am just more comfortable with my current situation.’
- >C ‘It will always be an option if you do change your mind, Anon.’
- >You smile and nod your head, shaking away a single tear.
- >C ‘Is there anything you would like to ask us?’
- ‘Oh, yes. This stipends that I will be receiving, how much is it?’
- >C ‘The amount we can offer is 300 bits a week.’
- ‘And what is a bit?’
- >C ‘Currency. Gold coins.’
- ‘Just coins?’
- >C ‘Yes.’
- ‘Is 300 bits a lot?’
- >C ‘Depending on where you live, yes.’
- >You think about the money and what you could do with it.
- ‘Does Equestria have like a home shopping network?’
- >L ‘Pardon?’
- ‘Like…I send away for items that can be sent here.’
- >C ‘We can arrange something of the sort if need be.’
- ‘Okay, thank you.’
- >You reach for your bag to leave, only to remember what you wanted to talk to Celestia about.
- ‘Princesses, I wanted to ask about the other creatures in your lands. More precise, those that consume meat.’
- >Silence blankets the room.
- >C ‘What about them, Anon?’
- >Her words sounded cold.
- ‘Nothing, don’t worry. I should be going.’
- >You snatch your bag and stand up, bowing towards the princesses.’
- ‘Thank you for your time.’
- >C ‘Anon?’
- >You freeze.
- >C ‘You can’t go back to your room yet.’
- ‘Wh-why not?’
- >C ‘Well,’ her tone goes back to being motherly and warm ‘if you wanted your new clothes, Cross Stich has them ready for you.’
- ‘Oh…I almost forgot I was wearing the same thing for a week.’
- >You hear one of the princesses stand.
- >L ‘Come, Anon. I shall walk you to the castle stairs before retiring to my quarters.’
- ‘Th-thank you Princess.’
- >You begin walking away.
- >L ‘Anon…that’s a wall.’
- >You spin to her voice and follow the sound of her hoofsteps.
- ‘Of course it was.’
- >Following the sound of her light hoofsteps, you walk slowly behind Luna as she leads you down the castle halls.
- >You feel your heart rate lower
- >She stops after turning a corner.
- >’Anon, I wanted to talk with you as well.’
- ‘What… can I do for you?’
- >’We wanted to,’ she takes a deep breath ‘I want to apologise for what I said back there.’
- ‘Why? You did nothing wrong.’
- >’But I did. I referred to you as your disability, whereas most of Canterlot knows how nice and capable you are.’
- ‘Princess, do not worry. It was a simple mistake. You don’t need to apologise for it.’
- >’I was also wondering…if you would call me-‘
- ‘Princess Moonface and the galaxy twins, got it.’
- >She giggles.
- >’I want you to call me-‘
- ‘Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s a stipends, call me Luna, maybe?’
- >Again, she laughs and you feel something cool wrap around your arm, pulling you close to her.
- >’Yes, you can call me Luna.’
- >She…
- >She was hugging you with her hair.
- >You return the hug.
- ‘Know what feels funny?’
- >’My mane?’
- ‘Well, yeah. But the stipends. With your sister being the motherly type, it feels like I am getting pocket money.’
- >There was dead silence in the hall, before the sound of tiny squeaking could be heard.
- ‘Luna, I don’t like that smile.’
- >’How did you know I was smiling?’
- ‘You squeak when you smile.’
- >Eventually, Luna leads you to the entrance of the castle, and you feel a cold breeze blow past you.
- >’Dost thou remember where the shop is?’
- ‘Yes, Luna. Thank you for the escort.’
- >’It was our pleasure, Anon.’
- >You give her a smile and walk towards the castle steps, pulling your cane out of your bag as you did.
- >Unfolding it, you lock the pieces into place before carefully attempting the stairs.
- >Another cold breeze blows past you, and you shiver.
- >You hope you ordered a coat to keep warm.
- >You don’t bother counting the steps out loud, but keep track of them in your head.
- >As your feet hit the bottom of the steps, you try to retrace your steps to Cross Stitch’s shop.
- >You remember walking at a slightly left vector after leaving the stairs, so you take the chance and slowly tap your way in that direction.
- >Walking down the streets of Canterlot, you hear the hustle and bustle of its high class populace.
- >P0nies going about their day to day rituals, barely paying attention to you as you stroll through the cobblestone streets.
- >You were amazed that they didn’t pay heed to your presence, but you remind yourself that they probably deal with seeing foreign diplomats every other day.
- >Being so engrossed in your own thoughts, you didn’t hear the sound of wood scraping stone.
- >Your cane hits an obstacle, but you don’t notice until your foot gets caught.
- >You fall forwards, dropping your cane as you did, and you hit the ground hard.
- >Coming to terms with the fall, you roll onto your back and pat yourself down, making sure nothing was cut or broken.
- >Your hands emanated pain, but they were only grazed, so you try to pick yourself up.
- >Reaching a hand around, you try to find some leverage, and you do.
- >A fuzzy feeling, warm thing.
- >’Tee hee.’
- >A giggling, fuzzy, warm thing.
- >’Want some help?’
- ‘No thanks, I got it.’
- >You use your other hand to push yourself up into a sitting position.
- >’Are you okay?’
- ‘Yeah, all good, but I need to go. I’m fairly busy.’
- >You get to your feet, shaking off any dirt before continuing your path to the clothes store.
- >Behind you, you hear the sound of… a spring going off over and over again, the source catching up with you.
- >’Hey, I’m-‘
- ‘No need to apologise, Miss. It was not your fault.’
- >You walk faster, hoping she gets the hint.
- >You weren’t usually a mean person, but something inside of you felt unease as she spoke.
- >’Teeheehee, no, you silly filly.’
- >Holy super fudge, her voice came out of nowhere there. You didn’t even hear her approach.
- >‘And you forgot-‘
- ‘I’m sorry to cut you off like that, Ma’am. I’m actually in a hurry.’
- >You begin to jog now, serious becoming scared of whoever this creature was.
- >A warm feeling surrounds your head, and you hear the giggling again.
- >’What is so important that you can’t stop for a few minutes to make a friend?’
- >Screw jogging. You shake your head, feeling the creature lose her grasp, before breaking out into a sprint.
- >Reaching down to your pocket, you try to find your cane, only to realise it was still sitting where you left it.
- ‘Crap!’
- >’IS THIS LIKE A GAME?! I LIKE GAMES!’
- >You had one chance at this.
- >You clap your hands together, hoping that echo location would help you miss large obstacles.
- >As you listen to the sound reverberate, you smile.
- >You might not die today after all.
- >As you ran through the streets of Canterlot, clapping your hands loudly, you could barely pick up the sound of your pursuant “springing”.
- >The dense sound helps shape the buildings and openings around you, but the residents were going to be another problem.
- >You knocked into a few p0nies, shouting a quick apology, before running away again.
- >’COME BACK MR. TALL THINGY!’
- >Fear began to take over your body, and you couldn’t understand why.
- >How was this…you had to assume “p0ny”; how could she move so silently at one point and sound like a spring the next?
- >She was so happy and cheerful, it was almost like she thought this was fun.
- >There was only one explanation.
- >She was insane.
- >’Watch where you’re going!’
- >You knock into a stallion.
- ‘Sorry sir.’
- >You gather yourself, and run again.
- >Why couldn’t you have taken Celestia up on her offer for sight?
- >’Anonymous?!’ comes a passing voice.
- >You don’t bother to stop, but you hear the sound of hoofsteps and wings approaching you quickly.
- >’Anon?’
- ‘Cadance?’
- >’Why are you running?’
- ‘Getting chased by some mad p0ny.’
- >You hear her slow and giggle.
- >’I see.’
- ‘How do I get to the castle? If I can get there, the guards might be able to help.’
- >’Oh, I doubt it. She looks like a killer.’
- ‘HELP!’
- >’Fine. You are in luck, you are almost back at the castle stairs.’
- ‘Thanks…’
- >Your heart feels like it’s about to give out right then and there.
- >Blind people were never meant to be athletic.
- >You hear Cadance slow down and you try to push on.
- >Your feet hit the bottom of the castle stairs and you fall again, only to scramble to your feet.
- ‘Gotta get to the guards…’
- >Your breath was wheezing, but you were almost home free.
- >You couldn’t hear her bouncing steps as you get close to the top.
- ‘5…4…3…2…’
- >As your right foot hits the landing, you swear you hear a light giggle from in front of you.
- >'Tag...' the voice says softly.
- >You feel somep0ny tap you on your chest, causing you to become unbalanced.
- >'...you're it!'
- >You stumble, heel first, over the top step and the feeling of flying surrounds your body.
- >You stomach drops as you realise you are not flying, you are falling.
- >Throwing your arms out behind you, you hope they break your fall.
- >You land on your right arm, only to fall again.
- >By the time your back hits the bottom of the staircase, a small crowd has formed to see you, their muttering comments floating to your ears.
- >You don't feel any pain, and try to push yourself up, only to fall on your right side.
- >Pain suddenly shoots through your arm and you can't help but to cry out in anguish.
- 'AAARRRGGGHHH!'
- >A few p0nies rush towards you.
- >'Sir, are you alright?'
- 'Help...' You mutter.
- >One pushes your back as the other lifts you with your shirt until you are in a sitting position.
- 'Thanks...'
- >You immediately reach with you left arm to where your right arm was...
- >...to find it was bent at a shockingly apparent angle.
- >BOING BOING BOING
- >'Mister! Are you okaaayy…'
- >Her words fade out as you lose consciousness from the shock.
- >Fweet…fweet…fweet.
- >As you regain consciousness, you hear the sound of the breathing apparatus they placed in your mouth.
- >Fweet…fweet…fweet.
- >Every time you took a breath, the mask would sound.
- >It was sort of weird, but you chalk it up to p0ny tech.
- >’Na NA…’
- >Another sound, like someone humming and balloons moving.
- >’Na NA na…’
- >There it was again, and a twinge of fear shoots through you.
- >You try to move, but you couldn’t feel your limbs which made you more afraid.
- >’Na NA na NA na…’
- >Fweet…fweet…fweet.
- >Were they…humming the “Jaws” theme?
- >’Na NA na NA na NAnaNAnaNA…’
- >Fweet fweet fweet fweet.
- >’ NAnaNAnaNAnaNAna…NA!!’
- >Something burst from the ceiling and you scream in horror, begging for it to not kill you.
- >Unfortunately, with the breathing thing in your mouth, you sounded muffled.
- ‘ERGERDONHERMEH!’
- >Something lands on the left side of your bed.
- >’Pardon?’
- >It was the voice from before.
- >You try talking again, but it was still muffled.
- >’Take this out of your mouth, silly filly!’
- >You feel something pull the apparatus from your mouth, and you begin to breathe normally.
- ‘Please don’t hurt me!’
- >’Yay, you are awake again.’
- >You hear a balloon deflate and the p0ny sniffling.
- >’I’m…I’m sorry you got hurt. I didn’t mean for that to happen.’
- ‘Pardon?’
- >’Don’t you remember? You fell down some stairs.’
- >You mind flashes to the chase and you climbing the stairs.
- ‘You… I fell down the stairs.’
- >’I’m super duper sorry. I didn’t mean for you to get hurt Mr. tall thing.’
- >You snicker at her name for you.
- ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name.’
- >’I’m Pinkie Pie!’
- ‘Hi Miss Pie. I’m Anonymous.’
- >’Anon-a-mouse?’
- ‘Anonymous.’
- >’A chocolate moose?’
- ‘Anonymous.’
- >’Upon a hoose?’
- >You smile and let out a small chuckle, before trying to lift yourself up.
- ‘Miss Pinkie, do you know why I can’t feel my right arm?’
- >’The doctor said he had to give you a special medicine so you couldn’t feel your arm being broken.’
- ‘MY ARM’S BROKEN?!’
- >’Ah huh! When you fell down the stairs.’
- >This p0ny had no sense of subtlety.
- >’It’s okay, we rushed you hear really fast.’
- ‘How long have I been sleeping for?’
- >’I unno… it’s almost sunset.’
- >You sigh and close your eyes.
- >’How do you like how I decorated your room?’
- >Your eyes shoot open, and you feel a twinge of guilt.
- >’It took me about an hour to get all the balloons blown up, and the streamers were fun.’
- ‘Miss Pinkie?’
- >’All the colours spinning around the room to help you heal.’
- ‘Miss Pinkie Pie?’
- >’And I wanted you in the spirit too, so I put one of my special party blowers in your mouth.’
- >She won’t even question the fact it might have chocked you?
- ‘PINKIE!’
- >’Yes, Mr. Moose.’
- ‘I…’
- >Your heart begins to break.
- ‘I’m sorry, but I’m blind.’
- >’Oh…what does that mean?’
- ‘I can’t see. I’ve never been able to see.’
- >The room falls silent, and you swear you hear Pinkie’s heart break like fragile glass.
- ‘I’m sorry that you did so much for me and it goes to waste.’
- >’You mean you can’t see anything at all?’
- ‘Nada.’
- >’Well…how do you remember p0nies?’
- >It was a question that came up a lot with those who didn’t know.
- ‘A few ways. How do you remember them?’
- >’I try to remember the smile on their face.’
- ‘Oh.’
- >You hear Pinkie shuffle one of her hooves on the ground next to you.
- >’Mister Moosh, how do you know when somep0ny is smiling?’
- >You sit there in silence, trying your best not to become upset.
- ‘Can you help me sit up? I’d like to sit up.’
- >’Of course.’
- >You hear Pinkie walk closer to your bed and you feel the bed begin to lift you into the sitting position.
- >When you find a comfortable position, Pinkie walks back to her spot.
- >’You don’t know what a p0ny’s smile looks like, do you?’
- ‘No, not really.’
- >You hear Pinkie sit down in defeat.
- >It went like this sometimes, folks taking the reality of it harder than yourself. Back on Earth, blindness was a known issue, so it was usually this way with children.
- >But here in Equestria, it seemed most creatures were child-like.
- >You are startled when you feel your covers shift and a warm mass climb up onto your legs.
- >’Gimme your hand.’
- >You slowly lift your left hand and Pinkie snatches it away.
- ‘Pinkie, what are you doing?’
- >She doesn’t make a sound, but slowly brings your hands up.
- >The moment you feel the soft, warm fur, your heart skips a beat.
- >Pinkie lightly trails your hands across the warmth before stopping.
- >You feel her long mane cover your arm, and you were reminded of silk.
- >The area under your fingertips expands and she traces the area again.
- >You feel her dimples and the edges of her cheeks.
- >Pinkie was giving you a gift you never thought to ask for.
- >Your smile grew, but it never came close to how huge her smile felt.
- >’There, now you’ll remember me.’
- ‘I don’t think I could ever forget you, Miss Pinkie Pie.’
- >’So…’
- ‘Hmm?’
- >’Do you mind if I sit up here with you? The hospital doesn’t have comfy chairs, and your bed is nice.’
- ‘Uh…sure.’
- >Pinkie bounces all over your legs, making herself comfortable, before lying across them.
- >’I’m really sorry that our game got your arm broken.’
- ‘That was a game?!’
- >’Yeah! I thought you wanted to play tag!’
- ‘I was scared that you were going to hurt me.’
- >’I would never hurt my…’
- >She trailed off her words.
- >’Do you think I’m insane?’
- >You smile.
- ‘I'm afraid so. You're mad, bonkers, completely off your head.’
- >You feel Pinkie lie down, hearing her whimper.
- ‘But I'll tell you a secret. All the best ones are.’
- >’R-really?’
- ‘Oh, of course. I might not seem it, but I can let loose of the sanity at some point.’
- >Pinkie giggled.
- >’So I kinda ate all your snacks while you were asleep and I feel really bad about it.’
- ‘What snacks?’
- >’Oh yeah! I made you cakes and pies and danishes as an apology.’
- ‘That you also ate before I could wake up?’
- >’Ah-hah.’
- ‘Thanks. At least I know the p0ny who ate my snacks is sorry and why I have no snacks.’
- >’You aren’t mad at me?’
- ‘Miss Pinkie. I am not the kind of person to get mad, especially to those who went out of their way to make me feel better.’
- >’I didn’t do a good job, though.’
- ‘No, you did a fantastic job. You were understanding, you accommodated my needs, you made me feel wonderful.’
- >’Are you sure?’
- ‘Very sure. Every day I spend in Equestria, I seem to end up happier and happier.’
- >’Does that mean we are friends?’
- ‘Yes.’
- >You can barely finish your sentence before hearing a balloon inflate quickly, and something latch onto your neck.
- >Pinkie’s mane was no longer silky and smooth. The new fluffy sensation that enveloped your face reminded you of fairy floss from the carnival, including the stickiness.
- ‘Pinkuh!’ you say with a mouth full of mane.
- >’Yes Moosey?’
- >Pinkie pulled back, most likely looking at your face.
- ‘You are much more…muchier. You have gained much more muchness.’
- >Pinkie giggled again before gasping.
- >’I’m late. I need to hurry.’
- >She leapt off your lap and to the ground.
- ‘Remember Miss Pinkie. The hurrier you go, the behinder you get. Slow down once in a while.’
- >’Okay, Door Mouse. If you ever come down to P0nyville, you gotta promise to visit me!’
- >You smile and promise, though you have no idea where that was.
- >As you hear the hyperactive p0ny bound out of the room, you close your eyes, hoping for more sleep.
- >’Hello Anon.’
- >Sleep that you will be denied.
- ‘Hello Celestia.’
- >You don’t open your eyes, but you wave towards her voice.
- >’I heard you had an exciting day.’
- ‘It was…something. Let’s not do that again.’
- >’How do you feel?’
- ‘Doing good. I think it was more of a shock than anything.’
- >’I am relieved. We were unable to mend your arm fully, so you will be in a cast for some time.’
- >You open your eyes.
- ‘What do you mean “mend it fully”?’
- >’The doctors of Canterlot General are able to heal bones quickly, but we didn’t have a proper idea how your arm bone is supposed to be set.’
- ‘But…how long will I be in this cast?’
- >’At most, a fortnight.’
- ‘Then there is no problem.’
- >’That is good to see you in high spirits. I should be off then.’
- >You hear Celestia turn to leave, and you feel a pang of guilt.
- ‘Celestia, wait.’
- >’Hmm?’
- ‘There are a few things I forgot to discuss with you.’
- >’I see.’
- >You hear the door shut and the lock click.
- >’Continue.’
- ‘When I asked you about carnivores, your answer was quite cold.’
- >’Yes.’
- ‘The reason I asked was because,’ you take a deep breath ‘humans are omnivorous.’
- >’I see…’
- >You wait to hear her reaction, fearing the worst.
- >’Thank you for telling me. I’ll relay that to the chef.’
- ‘You aren’t upset?’
- >’Anon, you trust me enough to tell me you eat meat as well as vegetables, even after my reaction. I apologise if I made you feel afraid to tell me.’
- ‘No, Princess. Going into a society of herbivores, I half expected you to feel malice for them.’
- >’Well, I can trust that you will not harm any of my p0nies.’
- ‘I will do my best to research different beans and legumes to replace my protein intake.’
- >’Why?’
- >Celestia sounded sincerely confused.
- ‘Because… I can’t get meat? I assume that all animals are sentient here.’
- >’Some are, but you can still acquire meat in some form. Fish and chicken are options, and if you want to balance with a diet of beans, legumes and vegetables, you should be fine.’
- >You raise an eyebrow.
- ‘If I didn’t know better, one would think you were prepared for this.’
- >Celestia gives a nervous chuckle.
- >’I might have seen your teeth and done some research.’
- >You smile.
- ‘Thank you, Celestia, for caring.’
- >’I will never stop caring about my subjects, Anon. That includes you now.’
- >You listen to Celestia leave and you close your eyes again, praying for sleep to come.
- >Within moments, you drift into slumber, dreaming of that mad hatter you know as Pinkie Pie.
