You barely flinch, quiet as stone, cool as the ice he compares you to, and you let him destroy the parts of your life together that are tangible. The parts that were intangible are already gone so what does it matter.

You see yourself so clearly tangled up with him in the bed you shared. You hear his laughter in your ear and you smell the sweat on his skin when he's making love to you and you have to close your eyes briefly against the memories. He's laughing, thinking that you're crying because of what's happening now when really you're trying to block out what once was.

You don't let that cool facade break until he's well and truly gone. Until the last picture of him holding you the way you found him holding your former personal assistant is as gone as he is. Once it's out of the shredder, that's when you allow yourself to shed a tear. But only a few because the truth is you barely have time to mourn his loss.
